Rosalina's POV
I am furious and humiliated. How can Salvatore tell me to be there at five when he knows he will be gone? I spent a lot of money to look good, and I even looked down on the receptionist because I thought I had an appointment with Salvatore. I heard the receptionist laughing and telling her friend what had happened and that Mr. Pistone had left for New York early that morning. He stood me up! I am furious but glad I heard her say he left for New York. I already bragged to my friends that I would soon be Mrs. Pistone. I can not tell them, Donna Pistone, because no one knows Salvatore is involved with the Italian Mafia. My phone rings, and I see it is Nadia, one of my friends.
"Hi, Nadia," I answer. I know we are friends, but most of the time, we can be mean and jealous of each other. We were called bullies and mean girls in school, but the truth is we were even mean to each other.
"Hi, Rosa. I heard you got stood up by Salvatore Pistone. I heard he flew to New York with your cousin, Isabella Stevens. Is it true?" Nadia asks. I know Nadia's mother works at the Johnson Hotel, and I was sure she would tell Nadia about my date with Salvatore. That is why I talked so hard when I said I was there to see Mr. Pistone. I wish I did not do it now, as all my friends will know he stood me up and tricked me! I feel like a fool again.
"He had to go to New York for urgent business, and he will be back. He did not go to New York with Isabella. She had her plane here," I say. She flew in from New York to buy Harmonies from my father, and she was pissed off that we lost the family restaurant to Salvatore. She will not fly with him unless she has other ideas! She must not think she can take my man!
"Oh, well, my cousin worked at the airport this morning and said he saw Isabella getting out of Pistone's car and walking onto his plane with him. He said Pistone and Isabella looked like they were more than friends or business partners. I am sure he mistook Isabella for someone working for Pistone," Nadia says. She knows better, and I know she is mocking me.
"Listen, Nadia. We know Isabella is not in our league, and Pistone will not even look at her. He must only be friends with her, and something must have happened to her plane, so she got a ride with him," I say. I know Nadia is jealous because I know the wealthy Salvatore Pistone personally, and she does not. I will not tell her he and my father are not friends, but I need her to stop spreading rumors about Salvatore and Isabella. Nothing is going to happen between them. I know Salvatore will not look at a woman like Isabella. I need to get home and talk to my parents. I need to go to New York. I need to pretend I am there on business, and we need to find out where Salvatore is staying so I can pursue him. My grandfather and grandmother will know where he is because they are well known, but I am sure Bella and Blake will also know where he is. I need to ask around and find out where Isabella is because I do not want her near Salvatore. I talk to Nadia for a while and pretend to be friendly. I hang up when I reach my parent's home. They are waiting for me in the sitting room.
"Why are you home so early?" My mother asks. My father also looks up from the newspaper he is reading.
"Don Pistone stood me up! He left early this morning, knowing he would not be there when I arrived at the hotel. He made a fool out of me! I think Isabella is behind all this, and she flew with him to New York!" I say.
"What are we going to do now? We need Harmonies back. I promised my mother and father I would get it back! This is a disaster! My father will not allow me to inherit any of his businesses. I screwed up with Harmonies and lost it to Pistone. I do not want to know what the rest of the family will say about it. Harmonies were in the Stevens family for decades, and I am the one that messed it up," My father says. I know he is useless in business, but he is my father, and I love him.
"I will get it back, Daddy. I need to go to New York!" I say.
"You are not going anywhere, young lady! I heard you threw yourself at Salvatore Pistone, and he stood you up! Do you have no shame?" My grandmother says from the door. We did not hear her coming in. I spin around and look at my grandmother and grandfather standing at the door.
Third Person's POV
"Leave it to Issy. She will get it back. She has more sense for business than any of you," Clark says. Clark is fed-up with his son and his family. He is also tired of Tammy always putting Isabella down. Clark loves Tammy and was also hurt when his oldest son and daughter-in-law died, which is the only reason he allowed Tammy to send Issy away and treat her the way she did. He has regrets. Even when Issy was small, he would feed her sweets and give her toys when Tammy was not looking. He knew Tammy was missing Charles and that she could not stand to see Issy because Issy reminded her of their dead son. They did not think of the baby that lost everything. Clark feels guilty for sending the little girl away. He would give her stuff but never love her because he feared Tammy would see. Tammy put all her love into Conner, Sherley, and their families, but Isabella never received any love from them.
"Father! I told you I would get Harmonies back! I will not leave it up to Issy. I do not see her as my family," Connor says.
"How do you want to get Harmonies back? Do you want your daughter to sleep with Pistone so you can get Harmonies back? And you young lady, what to run after a man for money? I will not allow it! Over my dead body will the three of you drag our name through the mud again! What am I going to tell the rest of the family? My mother and father are old, and they are asking questions! What you did is unacceptable. The three of you will look for a job! I do not want to hear another word! You will not get another sent from your mother or me! I will no longer help you. If you do not get jobs, I will disown you as my son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter. If you as much as walk into and casino or host a poker night, I will disown you, Connor! I am taking back your car, Rosalina, and you, the three of you, will move into the garden house at our house," Clark says.
"Clark! You can not do this!" Tammy says.
"You wanted to spoil them, so you will have to look after them," Clark says.
"Grandpa, I can not go to work, and I need my car! What will my friends say if I have to get a job?" Rosalina says.
"The last thing you should worry about is your entitled friends. They are not even your real friends. If you look at your social media, they are all making fun of you for being stood up by Pistone! You will leave Issy alone, and we hope she will get Harmonies back from Pistone. She will have to fix your mistakes! I am done talking to all of you! Isabella is also my grandchild, and the day I die, she will be one of my heirs. As for the three of you, I will have to think hard about what to do about you and if I want to leave you anything," Clark says. Tammy looks at her husband, and she is not pleased. How dare he speaks to Connor and his family like this?
"You are going too far, Clark Stevens!" Tammy says.
"Am I? You have neglected Isabella because you blame her for something she had no control over! After what you went through in your life, I think you will have more sympathy for your granddaughter! It is time you start thinking about how you and I treated her. She is blood of our blood and all we have left of Charles and Elize," Clark says. Tammy feels sad again. She knows she did not do right by Isabella. After seeing Isabella and how indifferent she is, Tammy feels guilty and knows it is all their fault for not giving Isabella any love. Tammy keeps quiet.
"You will move into the garden house tomorrow as I rent out this house. I am done talking! Now get busy and start packing up the things you will need. The rest will go into storage," Clark says. Clark knows Tammy is sad. Isabella did not even want to sleep at their house when she was in town. She refused, and he could not blame her, but things will change around her from now on. He wants to make amends with Isabella and become a grandfather she can love and respect. Clark is angry, and Connor and his family know better than to talk back to him. Clark will have no issue kicking them out on the street, and they know he is only offering them the garden house because of Tammy. Clark and Tammy walk out of the house and to their car. Tammy starts crying as they get into the limo.
"How are we going to make things right with Isabella? She will never forgive us. Especially me! I saw her, Clark. She looked so cold and indifferent. It is because she knows no love. She does not know how it feels to be loved. I never even hugged her or told her I loved her. I was so wrong. Isabella is cold-hearted because she does not know what love is. She did not have a mother that could hug her, and I was supposed to be that mother, but I was so sad about Charles and Elize. I was looking for someone to blame, and I blamed her. Instead of giving her love and support, I pushed her away and did not want to see her. It is my fault that our granddaughter does not know what it feels like to be loved and does not know how to love," Tammy says.
"We will figure it out, but we will need to give her time, we both let her down her whole life, and we will need to take it one step at a time," Clark says. His heart is heavy as he thinks about Isabella being used to being all alone in this world with no one to love her.
Mom, Dad, what are we going to do? I can not work, and my friends will laugh at me. No man will ever look at me! They will think I am just another poor girl! I want Salvatore Pistone and will not let Grandpa stop me from getting what I want. We also need to get Harmonies back before Isabella does and show Grandpa we are not useless," Rosalina says.
"We will figure it out and not give up. For now, we will have to play along with Grandpa and not make him angrier than he is already," Conner says.
While all this drama is playing off in Houston, Isabella is settling into her new room. She is unhappy to give up her freedom but must get Harmonies back, even if it means marrying Salvatore Pistone. Isabella Stevens does not want her family's heritage to stay in strange hands. She wants what Isabella and Paul Stevens worked so hard for to be returned to the Stevens family. She will fight even if she has to stand alone again. It is she against the world, and she will do it for her father and mother, although she is still angry at her father for leaving her alone in this world. Isabella thinks her father took the easy way out and did not want to deal with his grief, and he did not even think about her once.
