14. HE ASKED ME OUT, I SAID NO!!

CHAPTER 14

IVY’S POV

After sending the mail, I was worse than the way I was before I sent the mail. I could feel adrenaline rush on my abdomen and I went to my bed to lie on my belly and I hoped that I would feel better about everything.

I was on the fence. I never knew what to do anymore. I never knew if my mail made things better or on the contrary, it made things worse?

This was a lot to take in now that he was taking too long to reply. Oh no! He has definitely sued me.

The constant knock on my door made me feel like dying. It caught me off guard. Have you ever been in a position when something makes you so scared then some weird noise makes you think of something worse before you can finally realize that, actually it is something normal like someone knocking on your door?

Well, that is what I felt.

After regaining every ounce of my strength, I went get the door.

Gracing the door was Jeff and he angered me. I mean, has he no done enough to me already. If he had not told me about his status, then I would not be feeling like this right now.

“You look so scared and pale,” He noted as soon as our eyes locked.

“Well, what do you expect of me after I got to know that I scolded a Billionaire,” I shrugged my shoulders.

“Come on, don’t be like that. But on the brighter side, at least you can believe that I was telling the truth. I can see that you confirmed,” He said in a flat tone.

“Whatever Jeff. I am so afraid right now. I mean, I am going to lose my job,” I told him what I was really feeling.

“Well, that is why I am here,” Jeff huffed.

“What do you mean by saying, which is why you are here?” I implored.

“Well, let us go or a walk. It will help you cool off,” He muttered.

As much as I never wanted to spend much of my time with him, I didn’t have any other option other than to accompany him out for a walk. I needed a distraction and he was just the distraction I needed.

He should not get his hopes up just in case he had some intentions in his mind. I changed to a warm long sleeved dress and I wore a trench coat to protect me from the cold which is usually present in the evening.

Jeff was waiting in my Porsche and after I locked the door behind me right after I got out of the door, I started following him for the work.

“How was your first day?” That is the first question that he asked me.

“Well, do you want me to be insane or what. I mean, I insulted a billionaire today. Do you think that will be much of a good day,” I could feel a surge of anger in my system, after I threw the rant.

“I am sorry for asking. But Ivy, don’t forget the bigger thing and that is that you save his son’s life,” Jeff added as we walked along the pavement which were so clean.

Well, what he said was true. The bigger picture is that I saved his son’s life. I shouldn’t be worried about all this. But that is what a normal person like me can think, come to think of it, even if I was a billionaire, I would never want a doctor to scold me the way I did to him.

Eventually, I decided to push Ace’s thoughts for some time. I knew damn well that I would not be able to forget them. I will forget what I did if I find an email from him with a message that he was not going to sue me.

“Ivy,” I had not notice that Jeff was silent for too long till he called me.

“Yes Jeff, Oh, I am sorry that I have been silent,” I quickly apologized.

“No problem. Anyway, there is something I want to talk to you about,” He confessed.

“What is that?” I asked him and joined him in sitting by the pavement.

“I don’t want you to say anything till I finish talking, okay?” He asked that of me.

“I can’t promise but, okay. Tell me,” I said.

“Well, Ivy, I am not the type of men to beat around the bush. I swear, ever since I saw you, you have always been on my mind. I think about you all the time Ivy.  I care about you. It will really be an honor if you accept me as your boyfriend,” Jeff finished his short speech.

I don’t know if he noticed that my heart was ramming so hard against my ribcage. I was so angry and my chest moved up and down.

“What do you take me for?” I said between gritted teeth.

“Well, why do you ask that??” He implored.

“Do you see me as the type of girl to easily say yes to men? Do you think that I don’t have my own principles? It is just one day and you think I will want to f**k with you,” My heart was racing and I felt shortness of breath.

I couldn’t stand him anymore. I got to my feet and started rushing back to my quarters. I mean, what does he take me for? Does he think that I am going to agree for him to f**k me now that he is the guy next door?

He should be ashamed of himself. Just because I spent time with him doesn’t mean that I want him. He should get that. Most men should really get that. Being too friendly does not mean f*****g.

By the time I got home, I was sweating. He chased after me but I increased my pace and once I got to my place, I locked myself in.

Jeff got to my door and he knocked severally but I never answered. He finally got tired of knocking and walked away.

Finally, I was able to breath. I removed my trench and dress and threw a free dress on. Finally, I could rest and take some time to think of how to avoid Jeff, forever.

As I was still thinking of how, I saw a mail message flush in my laptop and I remembered it could be Ace so I went to read it immediately.

I was scared at first but I had to read the mail because that is the only way to know of my fate.

When I opened the mail, I was glued on the screen thinking this could be a lie.  I mean, how could the title be gratitude?

“Hi Ivy Summers. I cannot forget your name for you saved my son. You are one talented doctor who is real and I love that about you.

I know you are scared, you don’t need to be. If you doubt that I am going to sue you or something, come by my house, just send me your address and my chauffer will come to pick you up. You can come with a stethoscope and check on Jayden too, he is really asking for you”
