Chapter 10
ACE’S POV
The small interview I had with the writers of that magazine went on successfully. I had good time talking about how my law firm was doing so well.
As I talked about how I have grown over the years, I realized that I was actually doing a great job. I have handled the law firm well since I successfully inherited it from my dad.
I took a few bold pictures and I was happy to be the cover page of the Forbes May issue. This is the hallmark of my success.
I might be a billionaire but I am not the type to lazy around. I believe in hard work because that is what has brought me to where I am right now.
I work so hard and I advised the teenagers and other people looking up to me to work hard because that will definitely pay off in the end.
After that interview, I was driven to my father’s place. I had a chit chat with him and we celebrated my success with some whiskey. Of course I could not leave the place without checking on my mother.
My dad told me that Yvonne was almost giving up in his fight to be the top of the game in the law business. She had expected people to back out from me but the only person who backed out was the useless Eli who didn’t win any case that often.
Otherwise, my dad told me to keep working hard because Yvonne’s parents are also filthy rich and they could easily buy people who would bring us down.
After spending some time with my mentor, who is my dad, I went back to my place. My son Jayden was watching some cartoon in the TV, thus I played with him a little before I went in to take a shower. I went to hit the shower after doing some press up’s. Fitness comes fast and I normally save that time to keep fit each and every day.
It was still around 8.00pm into the night and seeing how the maids in my house were on their toes making sure everything was in order, I decided to give them some time off. I had been working late for the past few days and now that I have some extra time to spend with my baby, I decided to give them some time off.
They begged me to stay but I was stern with them. I told them to go and have some time with their family too. I also needed to bond with my son.
Jayden didn’t look that enthusiastic and after dinner. I took him to bed. I spent the rest of the night watching news and playing some video games later in the night. All through the years, I have learnt the art of celebrating all my success and today is no exception. I filled my glass with wine and drank myself to sleep. By morning, I will be all good and I will report back to work to work harder.
My alarm went off at exactly 7.00am in the morning. I woke up, did some morning run for twenty minutes in my treadmill and after that I hit the shower. I wore black pants and white shirt with a black tie.
I didn’t need to wear a coat today. I went to the kitchen and started preparing coffee. It hit me that I had not woken Jayden up and that is when I rushed to his room. He is normally up very early when the maids are around and today I wasted more time before waking him up.
I walked to his bed and seeing Jayden that pale made me freeze as if I had been bitten with a freeze bug. This is not a good sign. He needed urgent medical attention. My heart was throwing tantrums in my chest when I kept waking him up but he was not responding. My son was really at the verge of dead. How could be this arrogant .I wish I had slept with him, this would not have happened.
I was beyond confused. When I found my senses back, I go my phone and called the ambulance from the Mountain View Hospital. They promised to be there in a few thus I stayed there and tried to do all the first id on my son but he was not waking up. Good thing is that he was still breathing.
By the time the ambulance was getting to my residence, I was already waiting for them in the basement. I handed my child to them and I boarded the ambulance together with the emergency doctor and a nurse in the ambulance.
My son was placed in a life support machine when we were on our way to the hospital. My heart was racing. I have never been this vulnerable. My son was my entire life and I could never afford to lose him.
I followed him as they led him to the pediatrician ward of the emergency unit. When we got there, there was a female doctor who starts attending to him immediately. I wanted to join him but he told me to stay outside because my son was in safe hands.
IVY’S POV
My first day at work was all good. I come to learn that Jeff worked at the laboratory department. The doctors in my department were willing to help and I was glad that I was working in their company. I had attended to two patients early in the morning before a kid was rushed to me as the day progressed.
Just from looking at the child, I knew the baby was anemic. I drew a blood sample from his hand and sent it to the lab for cross match. He needed blood. His dad insisted on coming in as I worked but I turned him down. He should have prevent this situation, therefore he should not act sorry.
Jeff brought me the B positive blood to transfuse it to the child and I did that right away. After a few minutes of watching him as the blood got to his system, the bay started regaining consciousness.
He was able to open his eyes and he even told me that he needed some water to drink.
Before I allowed the man to see his son, I called him to the office. I needed to scold him for leaving his son unattended till he got to that position. I swear, if he would have delayed to come to the hospital, the child would surely die.
He needed the scolding so that he would take care of his son more. I needed to warn him against what he had just done.
