Chapter 24

A buzzing sound came from my cell phone which made me roll to the other side of the bed. I grunted as it kept on ringing, I roamed my hand on the bed searching for the phone. I found it afterward and connected the call. “Hello,” I said with a sleepy voice, I didn’t even bother to check the ID as I was still feeling dizzy. “Hey! Still asleep?” Aubrey asserted. Hearing her voice I rubbed my eyes and sat down on the bed, “why did you call so early? I called last night but there was no response. Now you’re in to disturb my sleep” I mumbled sternly, she chuckled and mimicked what I said. “Cut the crap Aubrey, it’s not funny” she giggled and became silent. “Our birthday is next tomorrow, did you get any call from mom and dad?” I inquired. “No, uhm... I think I spoke with them last week. They went to Harvard” “What! And you’re just telling me, you annoying b***h! What if I got caught or traced down to my apartment by them” I scolded, and she told me to chill. “I didn’t expose you, if you’re thinking that I snitched then you’re wrong. Mom and dad were disappointed when they didn’t find you in school, they called your line Audrey, at least speak to them” I rolled my eyes and let out a deep. I didn’t know that my parents would come down to Harvard to search for me, this is bad. I just made progress in my store, so I wouldn't want them to ruin it. “Hey! Are you still there?” Aubrey snapped at me. I flinched and recovered from the trance. “I have good news to share with you” I uttered with a raised brow. “Go on” she motioned to me. I told her about my wins at the trade fair, and she screamed out of excitement and congratulated me. “We Wellington has always been set to make it far both in our dreams” she asserted, I scoffed. And notified her that I didn’t use our last name. “I made sure no one knows that I'm Wellington. I don’t want any form of partiality” I bet she must be nodding now, as that has been the norm in our family. We’d never path from the way of honesty and we do things following the rules. “So how do you plan on dealing with mom and dad?” “Well, I’ll find time to speak with them” “Congratulations once more, I’ll see you soon” she muttered and ended the call. I sighed deeply and checked the time and it was past seven. I jumped off the bed and ran to the washroom. I hurriedly had my bath, slid into the first dress I saw in the closet, tied my hair, and ran downstairs. “Charlotte! I’m leaving” I let out as I wore the stilettos that were on the shoe rack. Oh my God I’m running late, the ride I ordered hasn’t arrived yet, how would I appear in front of my customers if there is one? I paced around the building. Luckily, a cab dropped someone in the neighborhood. “Hey! Wait up” I screamed and ran up to the cab. I entered the car and gave him the address of my store, I canceled the ride immediately I got into the car and quickly dialed Addison's number. “Hello ma’am” “Hey Addison, are you at the store?” I inquired. “Yes, Miss Audrey. I just arrived now” I heaved a sigh of relief and ended the call. Atlas, if there is any customer they won’t leave a bad remark or think that my store is a joke. I thought as I locked my eyes attempting to calm my mind. Soon, the driver pulled over in front of my store. “Thanks” I asserted, paid him, and stepped into the store. I was surprised to see no one except Addison. “No one came?” I inquired with a creased brow. “Uhm, a few people came but they weren’t much” she responded, I nodded, strode to the study room, and sat down on the seat. Abruptly, something came to my mind, I motioned Addison to come to my study. She arrived shortly, “I need you to do something for me” she nodded and sat down. I gave her the list of things needed for the birthday and instructed her to get all of them. I would’ve almost forgotten about it if I didn’t speak to Aubrey this morning and the birthday it’s in two days. “Whose birthday is it ma’am, are you planning on surprising someone?” I chuckled, shoved the question aside, and nudged her to go. I never had an idea what surprises on birthdays were all about. Aubrey and I have always prepared our birthdays on our own that has always been the routine. Back in my apartment, Charlotte called Andrew immediately. I got into the cab and left the residence. Atlas, they got the chance to meet as Andrew got a day off today. “Are you coming right now?” Charlotte inquired impatiently. “I think you should come over to my apartment, it would be less trouble if we get to see in my place,” he said to her. Charlotte beamed thinking that she had made progress in getting Andrew, she quickly told him to send the address and ran into the washroom. She had a bath, wore her favorite red lingerie, and slid into a white sleeveless gown. Brushed her hair down to her shoulder, grabbed one of her best handbags, and left the house. She hailed a cab and showed him the address which was sent by Andrew. The cab driver accelerated the car and left the district. Shortly, he pulled over in front of Andrew's apartment, Charlotte grinned as she glanced around the district, she paid the driver and headed to the elevator.
