My voice echoed through the whole trade fair ground that the murmurs and whispers came to end, and the audience kept their eyes glued on me, waiting for the next show. I wasn’t ready for all this charade and I’m not going to give them a show. “What evidence do you have? You just stepped into the fairground and walked up to my cubicle to blame, you must have a shred of evidence, right?” I turned to the crowd and they responded quickly to that prompted disturbance. He quivered and opened his mouth to speak but nothing came out, “I bet you have no evidence and you still try to frame. I believe someone must have paid you to smear my image. If you’re amongst the security personnel here you should know that the rules of the trade fair didn’t say that one shouldn’t come with an already known branded outfit. So I’d like to ask who you’re?” I inquired with an expressionless face.
“Yes, she is right! The rules didn’t have those content on them, tell us where you came from? Besides I bought one of her outfits and it’s not out in the market sector, I’ve never seen such designs or heard of the brand before” an average-looking man asserted, and the audience joined him to question the security man who was short of words. Beads of sweat were dripping down from his forehead.
“Come on, don’t be deceived by her innocent look or feel intimidated by her big words. I believe the security man to say she has cheated, how can someone who works for the Astor attempt to ruin their project? She must have plotted everything and now she wants to get away with deceit. Seize her, we’ve got to report her to the organizers” the old hag who has been speaking ill of me asserted. The other trader who loathed me for no reason supported me. I breathed heavily as I realized what was happening, they were ganging up against me to get me kicked out of the fair. I sneered and applauded them.
“You all must have cracked your brains to come up with these ideas, but I just want to let you know that I’m not easy to be bullied” I uttered and turned the old hag.
“Why are you so sure that I cheated? You must have plotted everything beforehand, that’s why you’re so eager that the security man should take me away. I think you must know something about this or let me say you’re the mastermind” she flinched and stepped back, pointing vigorously at me.
“What’s going on here?” An intimidating voice said from the audience as he marched towards us. The old hag swallowed hard and kept mute. I breathed heavily and explained everything that happened to him. “Everyone please be calm, we promise to get to this” another man who was among the organizers said and ushered us out of the fairground.
It was not long before the organizers found out the root cause of the commotion, the culprit was apprehended and handed to the police. They were to be punished for attempting to ruin the project of the Astor Enterprise. Although I was bewildered that they were the ones handling the trade fair, still what can’t the Astor Enterprises do? Being in charge of the trade is only minor compared to the things they do. However, I wonder why they had to hold a trade fair for clothing brands and designers.
“Miss Audrey, we’re sorry for any inconvenience.” The organizer with a deep voice muttered snapping me out of trance, he seemed to be their superior. “It’s nothing, actually I’m glad that the case was handled properly and my store was vindicated” I responded.
“We will compensate you if there are any losses” I disapproved of the suggestion and insisted that they should clear my name in front of the audience, that scene might have brought a slight hindrance to my store and that won’t be good.
“We will get to that. You may leave if there’s nothing else” I nodded, stood up from the seat, and left the office.
“How did it go?” Addison who was waiting at the exit rushed to me and inquired. “Be calm Addison. Look, I’m perfect. Remember, I’m not easy to be bullied” I ruffled her hair and walked out through the exit door, she ambled towards me attempting to tell me of the progress we had made so far.
Arriving at the fairground everywhere was calm like nothing happened, “am I the only one thinking that everyone here looks weird?” I blurted out gazing around.
“I thought so! How can they act as if nothing occurred here a moment ago?” Addis added. I hissed and shoved the thoughts. Shortly, after the results were out, the three organizers came to the podium and called our attention. One was wearing sunglasses, tall with a broad shoulder. He has blonde hair and is handsome. The second person standing in the middle was the one who I spoke with in his office. The third guy has black hair, he was sitting down on a seat with a crossed leg.
“We have three winners here” the blonde guy uttered and everywhere became calm. He started by calling out two names, my heart was beating profusely when he suddenly stopped.
“The winner of the trade fair would be granted a one-year billboard contract” this could be a great opportunity if I get to be the winner but all the same I’m just a novice who made a lot of sales and customers, which is a good start. It doesn’t matter if I lose, I thought to myself and caressed my chest that is rising and falling. I was about to turn to Addison when I heard Rey Grandeur being called up to the podium.
