Chapter 9Ancient Egypt
The palace buzzed with activity. Yusuf’s upcoming visit to Nubia had all the servants scurrying. Since they had only returned recently from their travels, neither Eli nor Micha were asked to go with Yusuf. Now, as was his habit, Eli approached the royal grounds at sunset. He entered through the side, nodded to the guards, and went to the small chamber where Micha had calculated the amount of grain that Egypt had. As he walked in, two servants carrying tablets bowed slightly to Eli. Micha stood over some papyri and looked up. After Eli ensured they were alone, Eli leaned towards Micha then took his face in his hands, and kissed him gently. “Mmm. You must have expected me. Your lips taste of honey.”
