Chapter 8It had been more than a decade since I’d lived in this house, but I still walked right through the door. The nerves weren’t because of the house, or that everyone else was there already. So I put on a bright smile and held open the door for Mason. Once we got off all our outerwear and added to the pile of shoes and coats, we followed the noise. “We’re here!” There were general shouts of welcome, and Shawna, Glenn’s wife, rose and made a beeline for me, tightly hugging me. She, like everyone else, was already in their family pajamas. “Garrett, dear,” she murmured in my ear. “It’s so good to see you. I didn’t get a chance to talk to you much last night. How are you doing?” I laughed as I pulled back, giving her a playful glare. “No head-shrinking on Christmas Eve.” Shawna laugh
