The pack dinner was something like a big family dinner with a long table and a week’s worth of preparations. Everyone from around the pack gathered in the main pack building and crowded into a great hall to have dinner together.
It was considered a quiet event so pups were never allowed. The moment that you were invited to your first pack dinner meant that you were one of the grown-ups now.
Iris had to go back and get ready for the pack dinner while Robin was laying and dreading it on her bed. As she already lived in the main building she didn’t need to take extra time for travelling from the house to pack building. Wolves with families and such occupied northern part of the pack; living in their cute suburban houses while the ones with no family, or those who were too grown to live with their family, occupied the huge buildings they called Packhouse.
Senior ranked members of the pack like alpha, beta and gamma lived in their own buildings which were next to each other on the opposite side of the pack. Robin thanked god that Wilder wasn’t living anywhere close to her. The farther away they are the better.
After another hour of doing nothing, Robin got up and showered she managed to make her hair co-operate and turned her wild curls into more manageable ones. There was a bunch of commotion and noise from the ground floor, people were arriving. Robin checked herself in the mirror and walked out.
Downstairs she saw Blair and Iris and Hope when she approached them she also noticed Hope’s mate. Jack or whatever was his name. “Hey Robin,” Blair was the first one to notice her. She smiled and said hello to everyone when it was Hope’s mate turn he offered her his hand. “Jacob, nice to meet you.” Robin nodded and shook his head. She wanted to be mean to him but Hope’s face made her think otherwise. Robin smiled and replied. “Likewise,”
“Hello, Blair’s gang.” A voice said and they all turned to it. It was Wren, Robin chuckled. “Since when we are Blair’s gang?” Wren moved closer joining into their circle. “Her name is easiest to remember and sounds good with the word gang.” They chuckled and Wren got introduced to Jacob. He was intimidated for a few minutes since Wren is second in line to Alpha title but tension soon dropped as he noticed that everyone in the group was okay with it.
Soon enough everyone was invited into the main hall to take their seats and Wren got separated from them. “Got to go and sit with my i***t brothers.” She said as a form of goodbye. i***t brothers, right. Robin remembered her problem of the day as they walked to their seats. Table sitting progressed from senior ranked pack members to families to mates and then the last were the single wolves.
This is where Hope and her mate left Iris, Blair and Robin to go seat closer to the mated people. They sat down and Iris whispered. “You should be on the other side as well.” Referring to Robin’s situation with Wilder. She shook her head. “Never.”
“What are we whispering about?” Blair whispered back at them. Iris looked at Robin who gave a slight shook of the head. “I will tell you later,” whispered Iris. Blair looked at both of them and nodded. Before Robin could change the topic, Alpha’s voice boomed from the head of the table. He thanked everyone for coming and invited everyone to get up and raise glasses for “Moon Goddess, thank you for blessing us.”
Everyone got up and raised their glasses, they all looked towards the Alpha, Wilder Looked away from his father as he raised his glass. He looked around the table his eyes were searching for her but he was unaware of it.
“To Moon Goddess,” they spoke. “To Me,” Mumbled Wilder.
The next day Wilder was walking around in search of his sister. He saw Wren talking with the girl and he was determined to get her name from her. He didn’t even know his sister was friends with them, or he knew and never paid attention, either way, he saw them all together talking and laughing. While he and his friends were sneaking in their alcohol. His father forbids heavy alcohol in the pack dinners, but Wilder could care less.
“Ah, here she is, the sister of the year.” Wilder teased as he entered the kitchen and saw Wren making a sandwich. “What do you want, dipshit?” Wilder chuckled and leaned on the counter. “Why would I want anything other than tell you that you are the best sister in the world.”
Wren rolled her eyes. “I am your only sister, Wilder, only. So of course, I am the best. What do you want?” She repeated her question. Wilder was only nice when he needed something. This better not be money because he still owed her.
Wilder sighed and dropped the act. “The girl you were talking with before the dinner yesterday, I want to know her name.” Wren finished making her sandwich. He was asking about Blair and co. “Which one, I was talking with a lot of people.”
Wilder thought about it for a minute, how did she look yesterday. “Oh, the one that looked angry and had curls.” Wren chuckled. Robin. She opened her mouth to tell him that but then. “Why do you want to know her name?” Wilder rolled his eyes. “Why do you care, just tell me the name.”
Wren chuckled, she finally figured how she will get her money back. “Either you explain to me why you want to know her name, or pay me what you owe.” Wilder thought about it for a minute before cursing and taking his wallet out.
“Here you go, now name.” He said and Wren chuckled. “Robin.” Wilder nodded. “I swear you made it seem like I was buying a poison or something.” He said as he was walking out of the kitchen. “Pleasure doing business with you,” Wren called back with a laugh.
So, Robin, let’s see who you are.
