Chapter 5
A bounce shot pain all the way up Danny’s left arm where it lay on his lap, molten steel poured in at the wrist and carried all the way to his shoulder. f**k, it hurt. The pain ebbed to a distant throb, enough that he could feel the rumble of his truck all around him. Once he cracked his eyes open around the soreness in his whole body, reality filtered in a bit at a time. The slow scroll of scenery past the windshield came first.
Danny rolled his head against the back of the bench seat. His eyes fell on Gabriel nearly hunched on top of the wheel, face ashen and hands the same color. And trembling. The angel’s gold eyes seemed too big for his face.
