Chapter 3Clay knew better than to expect a visit from Vincent the following evening, despite the fact it would have perfectly capped off his day. Instead, he poured himself a glass of wine and called his mother. They had a lot of catching up to do and the conversation distracted him, took his mind off Vincent. In anticipation of an answer in the affirmative, Clay spent the next day blacking out the spare room. He covered the glass in the window with tin foil before taping bin liners over the entire window, frame and all, which did a great job at blocking out every scrap of light.
