The wait back at the Delassaro mansion is jarring.
Demetrio stands in the mansion's living room, arms crossed and his brows furrowed in seriousness, his mind racing as he struggles to keep himself calm and collected. June stands beside him, staring up at him warily, being even more unsettled than he is. Both of them are extremely eager to hear from Emeliana and the others. There has been no word from them about the success or failure of their mission. But right now, that’s not the only thing keeping them uneasy.
A few feet away from the wary couple, is Amethyst. She has been tense since the moment she arrived, trying to keep a level head after everything that has happened. Everything with Aurelio and Celestia. First, she had to deal with Demetrio leaving her for another woman and now the person she was interested in has done the same thing. She doesn’t know what she was expecting, but it’s left her mental state deteriorated and her self-esteem nearly destroyed. But she can’t let any of them know what she’s going through. She doesn’t want to look weak in front of them and neither does she want their pity. Amethyst quickly glances at Demetrio and June, and the moment that her eyes land on them, she sees the two of them whispering something to each other. It immediately causes a sharp drop in Amethyst’s chest, not realising she wouldn’t be able to handle the sight of the two of them together. It is still extremely painful.
Demetrio, feeling that Amethyst has her eyes on him, turns in her direction and indeed finds her staring at the two of them right before she looks away quickly and turns her attention to something else. Demetrio keeps his eyes on her for a few moments, exhaling softly to himself. He knows he put himself in this position, especially for pursuing June so quickly after everything that happened with Amethyst. When all of this has blown over, if the opportunity presents itself, then Demetrio believes he can try one last time to try and reconcile with Amethyst.
“Have you tried calling them again…?” Amethyst soon speaks out after several minutes of awkward silence, keeping her arms crossed and her eyes on the window. Both Demetrio and June now stare at her curiously, just as they look at each other momentarily as well.
“They said only if they are not back before 3 PM. And they have about 2 minutes left…” Demetrio explains. Emeliana’s instructions were clear, but still, that doesn’t make worrying any harder to stop.
“Demetrio…” June is the one to speak up softly, grabbing Demetrio’s attention and making him look down at her and meet her worried gaze.
“Amethyst is right, maybe you should try to call them…” June says softly to him but her voice is still audible enough for Amethyst. It immediately makes her frown at June, a second wave of jealousy taking over her body and making her roll of her eyes. Of course, all she will have to do is bat her eyes at Demetrio and he will do what she says…
“Alright…” Demetrio eventually sighs, before he glances over at Amethyst as well, finding a scowl on her face and Demetrio doesn’t even have to question why.
“I’m calling,” Demetrio informs her and Amethyst lets out a deep exhale in an attempt to try and keep herself relaxed. She needs to make sure she is calm, especially when she’s going to be speaking with Emeliana in a matter of time…
Demetrio then takes out his phone and decides to scroll to Emeliana’s contact, being seconds away from hitting the call button, however, something else entirely grabs his attention. He instead looks towards the window as a frown now appears on his face and he begins making his way towards the sound he is hearing.
“What is it?” Amethyst is the one to ask, once he notices that June also seems to be focusing on whatever has Demetrio’s attention.
“It’s the sound of the main gates,” Demetrio answers as he focuses on Amethyst for a few seconds before he turns around, his eyes landing on June as well, finding hopefulness on her face as she stares up at him.
Demetrio then wastes no time and rushes to the front door, leaving June and Amethyst alone together momentarily. The two woman lock gazes as Amethyst glares viciously at June, while June fails to look Amethyst in the eye. She didn’t realise the guilt would be this overwhelming.
Not wanting to spend another minute alone with the woman who stole her boyfriend, Amethyst then scoffs bitterly before she decides to follow away Demetrio first, leaving June standing in the room with a small frown on her face. She then brushes off the feeling she is having and walks swiftly after Amethyst.
The 3 of them stand at the front of the Delassaro mansion where they watch 2 vans pull up to where they are standing. Demetrio can recognise both cars as the ones Emeliana and the others had left in. Now the question is whether or not they were successful in their mission. Amethyst stands a few metres from Demetrio and glances at him momentarily, suddenly finding herself feeling anxious as she watches the vehicles parked in front of them. Amethyst’s life now hinges on whether or not Emeliana was successful in her mission, and whether or not the information Amethyst gave them was useful.
June eventually reaches them and stands close to Demetrio, looking up at him momentarily and finding his gaze focused on the cars in front of them, both of which have now parked. Demetrio takes in a deep breath and takes a few steps forward, watching as the doors open and people begin piling out of the vans. First, Cartelli and Oro, then Luca, and finally Emeliana, all of them looking a mess but still, they seem unharmed.
“Emeliana…” Demetrio calls out as soon as he sees her, taking a few steps forward, leaving June and Amethyst behind to watch him carefully. As soon as Emeliana’s eyes land on Demetrio, a sigh of relief leaves her nostrils as she makes her way over to her second in command.
“Demetrio,” she calls out but suddenly he halts in her tracks once she realises that he isn’t alone and instead, Amethyst is standing not too far from where he is. The two girls share a curious gaze, the history between the hem suddenly flashing as Emeliana allows herself to remain calm, for she knows if Amethyst didn’t give them the information she did, they were never going to find her brothers.
“Amethyst,” Emeliana calls out just as Amethyst takes a deep breath and keeps her head held high, trying to show them that she isn’t scared but if she’s being honest, all she can think about is how this may be her last few minutes on earth.
“Were you succesful?” Demetrio’s voice eventually snaps Emeliana out of her daze, making her turn to him instead, her expression suddenly softening just as Luca stands beside her and stares down at her. Emeliana then remains silent and instead, she turns and watches as the rest of the men from the other van come out carrying two bodies over their shoulders, one smaller than the other.
“We found them…” Emeliana finally confirms, a small smile appearing on her lips and the longer Demetrio stares at her, the more he can see how much she’s been crying…
Demetrio, Amethyst and June all let out sighs of relief just as June smiles widely and Demetrio places a hand over his forehead and steps closer to the men carrying the unconscious boys.
“Are they…” Amethyst is the one to speak up and that’s when Demetrio walks up to Emelio first, taking a careful look at him before walking over to Franky and doing the same.
“They’re okay, just unconscious… The car was wrecked pretty badly…” Luca is the one to answer just as Demetrio finally steps away and smiles down at Emeliana, not believing that the mission was actually a success.
“Take them to the infirmary immediately…” Emeliana then orders, taking a careful look at her brothers, just as the men nod swiftly in response before doing as they’ve instructed.
“Well done Emeliana…” Demetrio tells her with a proud smile and Emeliana smiles in response, but only for a moment before her smile suddenly faces as her eyes refocus onto Amethyst.
“We have Amethyst to thank for giving us the information we needed to find them…” She responds and immediately, everyone’s attention focuses on Amethyst, making her look around the people who have their eyes on her before the concentration refocuses on Emeliana…
