Belle
“Holy hell, he’s tall!” My mind roared.
He was wearing a yellow hoodie and black jeans. My breathing hitched when I looked up and saw his face. His chiseled jaw and his high cheekbones gave him a more mature look; but his hazel eyes, covered by strands of his silky black hair, were gentle and possessed a boyish charm. I glanced down at his well-shaped lips and my throat went dry. He combed back his disheveled hair with long fingers and that made him look even hotter. My God! Calling him merely handsome would be downright insulting.
“Yes, come in.” Mr. Pius answered.
At the principal’s voice, I averted my gaze so that I wouldn’t be caught staring and brought my attention back to reality.
I swiveled around to the principal, but I could barely focus on what was being said. Who could concentrate on anything else except for the magnificent-looking guy?
I looked over to Eve and whispered, “Is he new here?”
He came inside the room and stood beside me. Bowing low to the principal, I decided not only was he f*****g hot but he was also much too polite and gentle.
“Here is my application you told me to fill out,” he said and the chain bracelet that hung around his wrist caught my attention. It looked as simple as a silver bracelet but there was something fascinating and I couldn't guess what.
Whilst he was busy handing the pieces of paper to Mr. Pius, Eve study his face as if she was trying to remember what she knew about him. All of a sudden, her face lit up with recognition and she nudged me.
“He is our senior. This year, he was supposed to take the matriculation examination. But due to his bad results, he needs to re-enroll in the senior year.”
My lips parted. Awe replenished my eyes. “Seriously? I didn't even know students were allowed to repeat the same grade.” Since this school hardly allowed C-graded students and prohibited D-graded as a result.
“He is the first one. I heard the principal likes him and that's why he has been given another chance. He’s a special case, just like you,” said Eve, approximating her collected data. How she kept up with all the information on all the boys from our school, I’ll never know; but I was grateful for her knowledge.
And wait, what? The principal likes whom? Me?
“Nah… the principal hates me,” I murmured.
Not once had he shown me favoritism. Sure, a lot of that hostility towards me was because I defamed his school… a lot. A chuckle escaped my lips, “But he does like my dad.”
Widening her eyes, she joked, “Oh, oh! Please don't let him get close to your dad. He might grow his interest in him.”
I nodded in agreement. It wasn’t that farfetched of an idea. After all, I heard around a year ago that he was divorced.
“I’ll keep that in my mind,” I said. Unfortunately, my voice came out a little louder than I intended.
Mr. Pius, who was busy scanning the file, glanced up at me and Eve with an accusing look.
“What are you two gossiping about?” he glared at us, suspecting something silly had occurred.
“Uh... it's about my health, sir,” I was fast enough to blow his suspicion away.
The guy in the hoodie, who had his eyes fixed on the floor, didn’t even look up.
“Health?” Mr. Pius asked. Looking at me with concern, he inquired, “Are you feeling unwell again?”
No matter how annoying this man was, he always took care of his students and no one could argue that fact–not even his enemies. Contorting my face, as if I was in pain, I nodded. “It’s just a little pain in my heart.”
With a look of panic on his face, Mr. Pius stood up, “Oh, Jesus! That could be serious! Eve, will you take her to the infirmary, please?”
Just like an obedient student, Eve nodded. “Come on, Belle.”
She grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the room and gently pushed me in the direction of the infirmary. I stopped and, using my strength, pulled her hand back.
“Are you seriously taking me there?” I asked.
Looking at me innocently, she dramatically pouted her lips, “Yes, of course, miss! Did you already forget about the pain in your heart?”
I smirked at her acting skills. “No... it's like... my heart is racing... when you meet the one you longed for.” Playing along, I pressed my hand to my chest, matching her dramatic flair, and added, “That causes pain and pleasure both, you know.”
“What kind of pleasure are you two are talking about?” As the sudden playful voice chimed in, both of our faces beamed knowing it was our another best friend, Sunny.
She was wearing her black blazer which I liked the most. She had a chain dangling around her neck that had the “S” letter consisted in the locket. Below her short frizzy brown hair, the moon tattoo she had on her neck was my favorite.
“Guilty pleasure,” Smiling, I continued the drama and winked at her.
“Silly, you meant... guilty pleasures in a locked dark room. Two bodies... a lots of... tears and... moans.” Eve demonstrated, pressing her hand against heart, acting to pant fast.
"Nah, Screams." Sunny came towards us and draped her arm over Eve's shoulder. Being around 170 cm and the tallest one here made it quite easier for her to reach Eve easily who was average, around 160 cm. And what a shame! I was the shortest one, around 152 cm. “But, Eve... remind me to record when she experiences those guilty pleasures. It should be exciting,” Sunny snickered.
Before Eve could reply, the guy wearing the yellow hoodie stepped out of the principal’s office and made his way to a classroom down the hall.
“And why is that guy here?” Sunny asked, clenching her jaw.
“Even you know him?” I gaped and wondered what I was doing all these years.
“Of course, I know. His name is Damien. He is quite popular among girls. And you know why! It's his extremely handsome face,” Sunny told on. “He is quite calm and cool. But.. something about him is really scary.”
“Scary?” I lifted my eyebrows in interest as I glanced back over at him. He didn’t look scary at all! But, very few things scared me in general so maybe I just wasn’t a good judge in this matter.
“Yeah... I heard students often see him having scars and wounds on his face, hands, and arms,” continued Sunny.
I blinked. What the actual hell?
“Well, that sounds fishy. I saw on the news that the mafia gangs are increasing their numbers by the day–most of them being high school students. Do you think he is a member of a mafia?” asked Eve.
She shrugged a shoulder. “It’s possible, I guess. He is sometimes absent and is always alone. Also, his grades are way too low.”
Drowning deep in the thoughts, I let out. “There must be a reason why Mr. Pius is allowing him to be here…” I tilted my head and raised a question, “Do you guys know if he is rich or maybe comes from a powerful family?”
“His classmates barely know him. No one knows where he lives. Yeah, and about his family being powerful? Not a clue,” The tallest one informed.
“Well, that’s normal. He doesn't have any friends,” Eve said.
Everyone seemed to have a tight grasp on the situation and it annoyed me that I seemed to be the only one who didn’t.
“Interesting,” I murmured.
Upon hearing my words, Eve crossed her arms. “Not if he is in a gang, you i***t,” she warned.
She and I were always daring and bold, but none of us had dated a gang member before. It was our unspoken rule.
“It would be more interesting if he was…” I drawled.
Playing the field was a habit and a good challenge was my excitement. However, I shook my head at the silly thought of that guy being in a gang. “I don’t think that’s the case. He doesn't look like a bad boy to me.” I saw how gentle he looked.
“Oh my gosh! Belle, are you interested in him? I thought you are into girls. And, you even said you love me.” Sunny joked, gaping at me.
“Jokes aside. She’s always been into the cool-looking guys,” Eve laughed.
Crossing my arms, I shrugged. “Nah, it’s not like that. It will be fun teasing him though.”
A sneer appeared on Eve's face, “What kind of teases?”
“The kind that fulfills your guilty pleasures, sweetheart,” I answered with a sneer.
