"K-Ken?" He's not looking at me but he's glaring at the people behind me. "Get dressed and get out of that room now."
I tried to move to see who are those people but he didn't let me. "Don't look," He pulled my head towards him that he's almost embracing me. I can smell his perfume again and it makes me feel safe knowing it's him.
"But I have to know who are those people," I looked up at him and saw him staring down at me. I stopped when I realized he's too close.
"I know it's your responsibility to deliver them to the guidance, but you shouldn't see them like that. It's not good for you, just let this pass."
I nodded unknowingly. I couldn't think rationally because all I can see is his face and his eyes, and all of him that is too close to me right now. He pulled me closer when the students passed behind me. I couldn't stop myself from inhaling his scent. Oh God, he smells so manly even when he came from the training. How is that even possible?
He released me when he was sure everyone's already gone. I took a deep breathe before I stepped back.
"They're gone,"
"T-thank you," I bit my lower lip.
I can feel my heart thumping so loud. I didn't feel this much a while ago at the rooftop, but it seems different now. What is happening to me?
"It's okay. But don't go alone on incidents like this if you're alone. There were more than just a couple making out inside Ayesha, who knows if they could have done you wrong."
I nodded shyly, I looked down at my feet to avoid his gaze and to hide my face. I can feel the heat up to my cheeks and I'm afraid he might notice that I'm blushing.
"Thank you," I repeated.
He smiled, showing his perfect set of white teeth. "Anyway, are you heading to the office?"
"Uhm yes,"
"I was looking for Earl, he left the practice earlier and he's not yet back. Is he there?"
My forehead creased, "We had a meeting a while ago but I don't think he's at the office right now."
He shrugged, "Maybe he went off early."
I nodded, "Do you want me to check for him?"
"No, you don't have to Ayesha. I'll go find him alone," he smiled. I noticed he's been smiling a lot today. I smiled back at him.
We both turned to look at Prince when we saw him rushing down the stairs. He stopped when he saw us. "Pres! I left the documents on your table. I have to leave now, I have to run some errands for my mom."
"Yeah sure. By the way, did you see Earl at the office?"
"No, he told me he's going home early and he asked me to bring you home. Are you going home now or should I wait for you?"
"Huh? You can go first Prince, your mom must be waiting for you. I can take care of myself," I gave him an assuring smile.
Earl often gives me a ride whenever my brother couldn't pick me up. But I can go home alone if they're not around, it's not like I can only travel in a pack.
"Are you sure? Is your brother picking you up?"
"No, but I can hire a cab and go home alone. Don't worry about me,"
He suddenly turned to Ken beside me,"Dude can I ask you a favor? If you could drop Ayesha to their condo?"
My eyes grew wide with what he said, "Prince! You don't have to do that."
"It's fine with me," Ken smiled.
I looked at him helplessly. Oh no, please say no. "I'm really fine Ken, I can go home alone. You don't have to do that." I really can't ask him that, it's too embarassing.
"Come on Ayesha, so we can all go home safe." Prince encourages.
I bit my lip. It's too embarassing but I don't want him to force me. Maybe I should just go so they won't worry anymore.
"Ayesha, it's really okay. I'll be glad to drive you home."
"Thank you dude! I really have to go, pres. See you tomorrow!" Then he strolled off. I was left with Kenneth and I couldn't argue going home with him anymore.
"Uhm, I'll just bring the copy of attendance to the office. Are you sure you'll wait for me?"
He smiled, "Yes, I'll just get my things too."
"Are you.. really sure?"
He smiled again. Ugh, please don't smile at me like that. You are causing so much ruckus in my heart.
"It's my pleasure Ayesha,"
I sighed, I guess I can't really change his mind. "Alright then,"
I went back to the office to take the attendance sheets for last month. I have to submit it to our adviser. I went to her office and she talked to me for a few minutes before letting me go.
I went straight to the parking lot and there I saw Ken leaning on his Hummber. I almost stopped walking when he smiled at me. How can he do this to me? I tried to remain calm even when my heart is going balistic inside my chest. I returned a small smile.
"Are you done?" He asked.
I nodded, getting distracted at the smile plastered on his face. He opened the door for me. I murmured my thanks before getting inside the car.
"Don't you have a class to attend tonight?" I asked, he's an engineering student and the engineering department is on night shift.
"We are already on morning schedule this second sem,"
I nodded. I put on my seatbelt while he's busy pulling off the parking lot. I'm still not comfortable with him giving me a ride. I can't still believe this is happening. I never imagined he's gonna do this for me.
"Where's your place?"
"Uhm..Casts village. You can just drop me--" His chuckle made me stop.
"I'll drop you infront of your house Ayesha. Why are you so shy?"
I felt the heat rose up to my cheek when he said that, "You don't have to do that Ken."
"I just want to return the favor you did. Besides, we're friends right?"
I looked at him, "Friends?"
"Yup,"
Friends? He just said we're friends. I didn't knew I smiled because of that. Why not? I was just a stranger to him and now he's telling me we're friends. I didn't know things can be as fast as this. God, is this my lucky day? Why am I so lucky today?
"So you're Aaron Bryan's sister?"
I nodded, "You know him?"
He smiled, "He's also from the varsity, who wouldn't know him." He said like my brother is someone he looks up to.
I sighed, "Uhm, I'm sorry if you had to drive for me. My brother must be really these days. He usually asks Earl to drive me home but Earl must be busy too."
"They're friends?"
"Yes, childhood friends actually."
"Oh."
It didn't take us long till we reached our house. He parked the car infront, I invited him inside as a sign of hospitality.
"Miss Ayesha, your mom's inside." The security guard said when we enterred. I nodded, I gave him a small smile.
Ken is following me while our maids greet us. We're about to get inside the house when I heard the maids. I stopped and turned to look at Ken.
"What's wrong?" I felt his hand on my back.
I wasn't able to answer when I saw my mom rushing to me, "Mom?"
The maids followed her and that's when I realized she's drunk. She's drinking again?
"Maam Angela--" The maids look surprised when they saw me. I rarely go home because I live with my brother on his condo unit. There are just some problems between me and my mom and it seems like I got the wrong time visiting her.
"Look who's here.." She looked at me with eyes full of anger, dismay and hatred. I guess she didn't even notice Ken behind me.
"Mom, you're drunk. You know you shouldn't be drinking."
"And why do you care?"
"Mom--" I tried to hold her but that's when she slapped me on my right cheek.
I heard everyone gasped, including Ken. I held my right cheek as I look at her.
"How dare you come back here! You!" She pushed me, "You are the reason why I have nothing now. I am all alone now, I lost all of them because of you!" And then it all started. She slapped me, pulled my hair while cursing me to death. The maids tried to stop her while Ken is trying to cover me. He's infront of me, shielding me from my mom.
"Get out! Get out of my house!"
"Hijo, please take Ayesha. Please just bring her to their unit. Just call her brother, please." Yaya Lourdes gave him my brother's calling card.
Ken nodded. He escorted me out of the vicinity while all the maids tried to calm my mom.
"Are you okay?" He asked when we got inside the car.
I stared down at my hands as I try not to cry. I'm fine, I've been used to it. I've been used to all the pain she gave me. She blames me for everything and I it's okay, because I blame myself too.
I tried to fight my tears but that's when Ken pulled me to his arms before he whispered something on my ear, "You can cry."
And it's amazing how my tears flowed when he said those words.
