1074 Words
Doctor Fawn wakes up in the hospital. How long has he been out? Did he conquer the alien? What happened to the corpse? Did his plan work? Doctor Fawn tries moving his body but they seem to weak to move. His sides hurt badly. What if he didn’t succeed? It seemed like he didn’t. What would happen to the corpse? They were the only lead to know what the alien was like. “Nurse, nurse” the doctor calls with his strength. A young lady in her twenties, dressed in white, come into his ward. “Please, put a call to someone. I have a message for her, please” Doctor Fawn mutters. Leah, so far, was the only one the Doctor trusted. If anything had happened to the corpse, she should be the one to tell him. “Yes, Leah on the line”. “This is Handmaid hospital, a patient here, Doctor Fawn of the Future World Science, wants to speak with you in person. Do well to come around” and the nurse cuts the call. Leah stares at her blank phone. The documents has been ignoring her for sometime now. Why did he want to talk to her now? Why was he calling from a hospital? Leah tried calling the doctor’s personal line. She sees an unopened message from him: “Hide with your daughter.” Leah’s eyes nearly popped out. Could Korma have been the one who left him in a hospital? Korma should be the only threat that would make him advise her to hide with Mara. The message was sent some minutes after Mara has sent him a message. Why didn’t Mara sees it? Maybe, Mara’s message was how Korma knew she had been reported to the FBI. Why did they doctor go after Korma. Leah makes a turn at the next U-turn. She drives straight ahead to the Handmaid hospital. It was almost late, her day has been long she must see him today. He better have some good news. “Hello, I’m looking for Doctor Fawn’s ward, please” Leah tells a male nurse. He leads her to room 101 and leaves. “Thank you” Leah calls after him. The nurse, who had called Leah earlier, sat on a chair beside the doctor’s bed. “Are you Leah, ma'am?” she asked. Leah nodded. The nurse hands over letter and leaves the ward. Doctor Fawn was asleep. Leah opens the letter slowly and reads: “I tried going to the alien's children graveyard but I got intercepted by it. Hope my non-chalant attitude didn’t bring a terrible repercussion. Please visit the graveyard, but with the FBI. You were right. I was wrong.” Immediately, Leah dashes out of the hospital. She gets outside and tries finding her car. She remembers she abandoned it at a hospital's garage and is now using one of Prof. Eleanor’s. The things Korma make her do are so painful to her. That car was a gift from her dead father. She would never want to part with it but since Korma knew about it, it’s better to drive with something else. Even now, the doctor was receiving his own share of Korma’s trouble. He had referred to her as “it”. Leah smiles and walks into Prof. Eleanor’s car. She was going to the FBI. The Chief won’t be able to dismiss her report now. She has substantial proof and a top scientist as a witness. Her revenge on Korma was about to be done. “Hello, I’m on my way there” she calls her FBI agent friend. Whatever Korma gave the Chief, it won’t stop her from making her plans work. She drives the car to halt at a line. She steps out with pride and greets everyone her way. Deep down, her fear was still building. What if Korma had relocated the corpse? Finding it would be a big task. And if the agents didn’t see any proof, they’ll label her a “liar”. She couldn’t risk that. It has to go well. Before she could enter the office, her phone buzzed. “Yes, Eleanor” she answered. “Its me, mom. It’s late at night. Are you safe? Are you okay?” Mara sounded like she would cry. She was genuinely worried. Yes, baby” Leah said, “Mom is fine. You should go sleep. Give the phone to the owner”. Mara hands the phone to Prof. Eleanor. “Thanks for helping me out. I'd be home soon” Leah continues. Prof. Eleanor makes a short “hmm” and cuts the call. She wasn’t the type that talked much and Leah knew. She was one of the few youngest professors of English language they had in the country. And ironically, she wasn’t much of a talker. Leah was glad to have such a wonderful friend. Getting her composure, she proceeds into the office. Thankfully, and for his sake, Chief Ramsen permitted the agents to go check the graveyard. Unknown to Leah and the agents, Korma was actually now the person in control of the case as she is fully controlling Chief Ramsen. She wanted to mess around with Leah. Leah would be mad when she finds out her only hope is gone. And those agents, they would begin to doubt her. Korma smirks, she was in blank Jeep away from the office building watching them. Leah would be sending those agents on a wild goose chase. She starts her car to leave but remembers something. “Oh no” she gasps, “the burnt car of the doctor”. It’s enough proof that something happened. The FBI would deem her a threat for the destruction of the property. And if they found out she harmed the doctor, it would be bad. And worse, they would believe everything Leah says. Korma reverses her car and begins chasing after them. She knew it was almost impossible to hide the burnt car before the agents got there but she would try. She had other abilities she could use against them. She must destroy Leah’s plans. She adjusted to a gear five and steps on the acceleration. A Lexus Jeep was crawling in front of her. “Move” Korma shouted. The driver seemed to be enjoying the music blaring from the radio. “Accursed humans, move!” Korma moans.
