Chapter 4
I keep glancing at the expensive watch I am wearing. Even if I don't want to wear it because it’s too expensive. Aunt Nely still push me to use it. I sighed. I count every minute. After the car stopped, I immediately got out and didn't bother to wait for the door to be opened. I'm not disabled anyway to be treated this special.
"Thirty minutes...” I whispered to myself.
It took us thirty minutes to drive from home to school. But honestly, feels like I am just walking. The speed of the car was slow, so maybe it was less than thirty minutes, I guess. As soon as I came out, the car immediately left.
I was amazed when I saw my school. The size of this university is huge for me.
"Ms. Catherine Lumibao?” a woman’s voice calls me from behind my back.
"Yes?" I answer as a I turn my gaze to her.
She slightly raised an eyebrow at me and turned her heels at me.
"Follow me," she ordered. I shrug but the I follow her. As we entered the inside of the university, I noticed that the students we passed by were staring at me intently. They are giving me a hideous and strange look at me. I feel like I have dirt on my face or something wrong with my clothes. I suddenly feel conscious at this moment.
"Catherine..." this elderly woman called me and led me into a large room. And as I roam around my eyes to the room, the place looks so old and the decoration are filled with ancient furniture.
"Sit..." she ordered me again so I immediately obeyed. She gave me a small book and a piece of a small key with a small wooden tag attach to it. I look at the small book. It's a little outdated but every page is still in good shape.
"There are all the rules, dos and don'ts..." she explained as she pointed the little book I was holding.
"And I am the headmistress of this school..." she added again. I just nod. Her face expression is scary.
"This is your class number and you can leave now." I immediately stood up when she said that because I don't really feel good about her. I responded her with a simple apology and walked out of her office.
While heading at the hallway. I was amazed at the key I was holding. It’s quite unique because the key is old fashion and I think this key are for my locker.
"Class A-R1..." I whispered to myself as I read the wooden tag.
The entire hallway was quiet and I was the only one walking and looking around the hallways to find my classroom. As I turned forward, I was suddenly thrown away because of the force of the collision that bump on me. I groaned because of the severity of my fall but I didn't care because I focused more on what was in front of me. The girl was on the floor that I bump in. I stood up quickly even though I could feel my hips still cramping. I picked up her big graded glasses. And I myself put it on her and helped her stand up. She was also wearing the same uniform as mine.
"Are you alright?" I'm curious. She looked up at me because I was slightly taller than her.
"Huh? I should be the one asking you that. Are you okay too? I'm really sorry, I was really in a hurry," she apologized. I slowly nodded and smiled. She picked up my key.
“Class A-R1!?” She was slightly surprised then she steps back slightly. I frowned.
"Is there a problem?" I asked in surprise and took the key in her hand. Then she fixed her graded glasses and couldn't look at me directly.
“Nothing! Let's go to our class," she said.
I’m a bit confused but still, I didn’t bother to ask her. It seems like she has been studying here for a long time, based on the way she acted earlier when she found out what class I belonged to. My classroom is on the fifth floor. I'm so stupid to realized that too late! While heading there, I just noticed that every room was very quiet. Maybe they are well disciplined.
“Ump!” I growled loudly because the woman in front of me suddenly stopped and she accidentally stomped on my left foot. I was not even aware what I am stepping into so it’s kind of my fault too. I sighed. I looked in front of us. A large door appeared on us with CLASS-A-R1 written on it. It's like I suddenly got nervous. She gently turned the doorknob to open it and I saw an elderly woman sitting at her desk, reading something in the book in front of other students. And as I looked up to my left, my classmates looked up at us. By my count, there were only twenty students here, including me and this woman standing beside me.
My foot steps were heavy as I entered. With the strength of my heart beating, it seems that this is all I can hear.
"Mrs. Catherine Lumibao! Welcome!" Our teacher suddenly said enthusiastically as she stood up. And her mood suddenly changes as she see the person next to me. I suddenly got confused then.
"To you too, Ms. Agustin. You can now sit down,” she added.
I was stunned by the stares of my classmates. It's like there's something different about them that I can't figure out. I just realized then when I get back to my senses when she was pulling me towards our seat.
"Come back to your senses, Catherine! You shouldn't look back at them," she whispered to me. I was startled and bowed down.
"Sorry about earlier. I am Mocha Agustin, Master Keanno's right hand. How about you?" I blinked.
"Oh? That... that's it... I’m Catherine Lumibao. That's all!” I hesitate to answer and just play with my fingers. This is how I am when I'm nervous. Right-hand!? Master Keanno? What the hell is she talking about? Mocha’s words were still stimulating on the other part of my brain. I am really confused!
"Are you sure?" she asked me again with a frown. I nodded. My God Catherine! What the hell is going on!?
"All right. It's up to you if you don't want to share," Mocha also said later. I breathed a sigh of relief because honestly, I didn't know what she was talking about. The class has started but all of them are not listening. Except maybe Mocha and I.
"What class are you?" Mocha suddenly woke me up because I got a little bit sleepy. Her name is quite funny because I think of it as a flavor of a coffee. My eyebrows met.
"Class? Here..." I answered. She sighed.
"Weren't you even given a test and information before you got to this place?" Mocha is very curious about me and I am also. I shrug my shoulders.
"Ah..." Was all I said and shook my head. Mocha then slapped her forehead.
"Then how did you get in here?" she asked again.
"Ms. Agustin! Be quiet!” Our teacher said suddenly.
Mocha and I both bowed down our head.
"Sorry...” I whispered. Mocha shook her head gently.
“I’m sorry too. I'll ask you later," she answered me in a whisper and turned her attention to the book she was holding. I just sighed and comforted myself by reading a book. What a confusing first day of school!
