Seraf's Pov
It was already evening when I arrived at my father's hospital. WH. Werewolf's Hospital. He had donated it to the public when he became an Alpha, my dad being in his righteous moments.
I alighted from my car and headed in without wasting any more time, and Kauis rushed after me immediately.
" You should wait for me, Seraf "
" If you can't keep up, then move away," I told him, but he didn't respond. Instead, he kept to my side. That's how he used to be. He wouldn't leave No matter how hard I have tried to push him away in the past because my Dad didn't approve of our friendship one time in the past.
When I stepped into the hospital, the staff there suddenly stopped to focus their eyes on me. Yes, I forget for a moment. There I am, a Prince. I bowed to greet them all with that single action, and then I headed toward the Receptionist's desk.
" Hi. I am here to meet Estelle. Which room is she in? " I asked the woman behind the counter. She glanced at me once in a polite way, then read through her notes.
While she was at it, the thought of Hayven came to me again. I have tried to stop worrying about her, but the more I tried, the more her pitiful eyes kept coming back to me, making me feel miserable.
" She is staying on the second floor, Prince Seraf," The Receptionist told me, distracting me from my thoughts. I smiled at her and headed in with Kauis still beside me.
When I appeared on the second floor, I saw doctors going into Estelle's room, and I hastened up, wondering what was going on. At last, I arrived in the room where the two doctors were having a conversation about her health.
" If care isn't taken, she will be going into a coma, or worst-case scenario, she'd die. It's a miracle she is holding up to this point since she is human "
" What? " I asked in surprise in the doorway. The doctors were jolted. They turn to me with their eyes filled with horror. I must have startled them for a second.
" Wait what? Estelle can't die. Shouldn't you do something about her health? " I asked angrily.
" We have tried all we could, Prince Seraf, but all our efforts keep hitting the brick wall. We can't even pinpoint what has been the cause of her ailment, but one thing is very sure, " One doctor said, and I raised my eyebrows.
" What? "
" She is poisoned "
I didn't have to flinch in surprise but my body reacted to the news. I have been suspicious of her being poisoned, and now that the medical doctor has confirmed it, I felt a pang of pain in my gut.
" Bastiano," I mutter under my breath. He has been cruel in and out. Sometimes I can't believe he is this cruel.
" We can't let her die. What can be done, please? I beg you. Anything we can do to make her live " I can't even believe I am panicking, scared that Estelle would die.
I shouldn't care about her because she brought whatever has happened to her upon herself, but no. My heart might be dark once but I am still Serafino Stero. I am only a bad boy in college, not a Cruel one who'd want revenge at the cost of a life. No matter the breed.
The doctors both stare at me in sadness and at last, one of them bows in respect and apology.
" I'm sorry, Prince Seraf. No matter what we do it's still not gonna work. I apologize "
The doctors left the room seconds later, leaving me stunned and extremely disheartened. I slowly lean over to the wall, wondering what would happen next. Kauis still stood there, beside me. Silently giving me the strength, the support, and the care I needed.
" She didn't deserve you... Your sympathy, Seraf. You don't need to break down this way, " Kauis mutters to me, but I can tell he never meant his words. Judging by the look on his eyes too he is also worried about Estelle.
" She is still someone worth saving, Kauis. She was once Hayven's best friend and roommate. Besides that, she has no reason to die. She has no reason at all. A cure was supposed to exist somewhere, damn it! "
" You are right. " A feminine voice suddenly came through, and I looked up to see Siren walking into the room. Her eyes laced with determination and she was staring at me.
I didn't hear her well enough. Slowly I straighten up to ask.
" What? A cure? What do you mean? "
" When Estelle was brought here last night, I got a call from the doctor. You might not know I study medicine and cure at Shapeshifters College. After the analysis, I know she is poisoned "
" I know that part already "
" Then you were supposed to know the type of poison she had taken, shouldn't you? "
I swallowed hard.
" Stop beating around the damn bush Siren. Tell me what you know "
" I did some research about the poisonous pill she had digested, and it brought out the location. The human world "
" What! "
" The shocking news is that your uncle in the human world is producing these drugs. It's very effective. Perfect for all breeds but you need to be careful. If the pills aren't one hundred percent completely made no one, no breed must use them "
" Why? "
" Because it causes death and many other calamities. Whoever has fed Estelle those drugs is aware of this fact. The pills are halfway through completion so it is dangerous "
I bow my head in sorrow. I can't believe this. Bastiano intentionally feeds Estelle a dangerous, non-fully processed pill just to kill her. Damn!
" So what is the cure? Tell me, Siren "
" It's the same pills. The completed, ready-made one that is supposed to be used. I heard you are the model for these drugs in the human world. I guess you will be journeying to the human world after all to bring back these pills home. Right? "
I swallowed hard again. This time for fear to leave Hayven all alone in the shifter's world. At the mercy of Bastiano. All of a sudden I noticed.
" Wait, where is Hayven? Why isn't she here with you? "
Siren looks up into my eyes this time and mutters softly.
" She's at home. Seraf you need to go see her. It's important "
My heart drops immediately. Hayven. I wonder what has happened to her. Is she still crying about what has happened? Goodness! I have forgiven her already. Damn it.
I rushed out of the hospital again, and now my destination, my heart, lies in the female residents' hall. To meet her. That young lady who has occupied all the space in my heart.
