Informing Martha's Family of her Disappearance.
Henry woke up early, in the morning he went to his brother's house as he was promised that over the weekend they are going to call for a meeting to invite Martha's parents and Wilson's he knocked at Wilson's gate, and Wilson in haste ran and opened the gate.
"Have you heard anything yet?" Wilson asked.
"No, you remember we have the meeting today with the two families our family and Martha's Henry said
"Yeah it's not easy to explain to her parents but we have to," Wilson said.
They both assembled the chairs for the meeting outside the house Edha Wilson's wife organized the food for the families to eat after the meeting.
"How are we going to explain the whole scenario of Martha's disappearance?" Henry asked
"We have to eat a hot potato by explaining what had happened maybe one of the family members knows her whereabouts," Wilson said.
"Yeah that's a wise idea" Henry responded.
There was a knock at the gate Henry rushed and opened the gate thinking it was Martha.
"Good morning" Pius Martha's father greeted Henry
"Good morning father-in-law" Henry responded
"Why do you behave that way you are so anxious and restless son" Pius responded.
Henry started crying bitterly Pius held his back using his left hand.
"What is going on son is anything the problem has someone died?" Pius asked
Wilson realized that the family has no information about Martha's disappearance Pius entered the compound with other family members shocked to see Henry crying and not uttering anything.
"Welcome and sit down," Wilson said
Pius family sat Martha's brothers and sisters became wanted to know what is going on Martha's mother Susan moved closer to Wilson
"What is going on here," Susan asked.
Wilson short of words heard to explain what has transpired
"It's Martha your daughter" Wilson whispered
"Susan stood up wanted to scream their daughters held her tight knowing that she is going to be overwhelmed by any sad information.
" Stop keeping us in suspense tell us what is going on Henry," Mary said firmly.
"Martha has disappeared for almost three weeks now," Wilson said.
"Martha, my daughter has disappeared?" Pius exclaimed.
"Where on earth is she it's about a month since she called," Pius said.
"I thought you said my daughter is is death I am now relieved," Susan said
The entire tense meeting was calmed and questions lingered in their minds.
"How did she lost in Kisumu? or did she pass to see her friend? Or was she kidnapped?" Pius asked
"We called the school and we were told she left immediately after being given maternal leave but she didn't arrive," Henry said
"So far what have you done" Pius asked
"We've gone around Kericho county hospitals but in vain," Wilson said
"That was the right move reason being she was expectant she could have experience labor pain," Susan said
"But the problem is the hospital could have called us to inform us if she has been admitted," Henry said
"What's your next strategy to find her?" Have you called all our relatives and friends?" Pius asked
"Yes we called everyone, but nothing came up" Wilson responded.
"On Monday we are going to report to the police but we had to inform you before reporting the matter to the police," Henry said.
"I will join you on Monday we will go together to the police station I have a friend who is a detective," Pius said
Martha's family left sadly without eating food Wilson wanted to convince them to eat but they had no appetite.
Wilson and Henry followed then observed as Martha's family boarded the car Pius drove as they watched disappear into the horizon, they went back to the house sadly showing that everything wasn't well.
Monday morning Pius drove speeding towards Henry's house he hooted and Henry opened the gate, Wilson joined them and they boarded the vehicle and left.
At the police station there was a long queue Pius called his friend detective, the detective came.
"How can I help you, my long-time friend?" Thomas asked
"My daughter is lost it's almost a month now we've not heard from her phone is off sir, we are desperately looking for her," Pius said
Thomas kept quiet and sadness pronounced on his face.
"You mean Martha your lovely daughter is lost how?" Thomas asked
"She was given a maternal leave but she didn't arrive home her phone was ringing until the following day it went, off," Henry said
"That's where we are going to start that is a good clue so far," Thomas said.
"Follow me," Thomas said.
They followed him to his office Thomas removed a gadget and placed it on the table.
"Can you give me his phone number" Thomas requested?
Pius give him her numbers hurriedly Thomas input Martha's number on the gadget and tracked.
"I can see the location of the phone number is in the boundary between Kericho county and Kisumu county Awash. Thomas said
" Awasi isn't far from here, officer what are we going to do? Henry asked.
"Right away let's go to the location," Pius said
"Yes, I propose we go right now" Wilson supported the idea.
"Can we use my car?" Pius asked
"No this is a dangerous mission I will myself use a police vehicle wait for me here" Thomas advised.
"You are my friend please allow us to join you please," Pius said
Pius removed some money from his pocket.
"No later not here," Thomas said
Pius returned the money into his pocket.
"What are you doing do you want us to be arrested for bribery," Henry said
"Don't be naive without money you are not going to be served in our country" Pius said
Pius went outside Pius Wilson and Henry left in the office Thomas went and checked the fuel on the police car the fuel was in order, he came inside the office.
"Guys we are good to go let's board the police vehicle outside," Thoma's said
They hurriedly went outside and boarded the vehicle, as Thomas removed the gadget and took it with him to the car he started the engine and left.
"What have you done so far before coming to report to the police?" Thomas asked
"We went to all hospitals bin Kericho county but there is no trace of her" Wilson said
"That was the right move how about the Kisumu hospitals?" Thomas asked
"No, since it was a distant county we had to seek support from you," Henry said
"You are right," Thomas said
Thomas drove the car to Awasi shopping center since it was early vehicles was not much on the highway it took almost thirty minutes to the town.
He stopped the vehicle and alighted he tracked the phone number the tracker directed it to the ditch where Martha and the other passengers' vehicle plunged into. Thomas moved closer there were pieces of plastic covering the phone Thomas picked.
"What is that," Pius asked as he moved closer.
"This is Martha's phone I wonder how people could not get it and it was ringing Inst this Martha's phone," Thomas asked
"Yes, this is it" Henry and Pius responded.
"Look at the area it means Martha was involved in an accident their vehicle plunged into this ditch," Thomas said
People around that place came to ascertain what was going on in large numbers since it was market day there was you man who came near to where Thomas was.
"Where are the people who were involved in an accident taken to?" Thomas asked
"Most of them were taken to the dispensaries and most of them had minor injuries," an onlooker said
"Was there who had critical injuries?" Thomas asked
"Yes, a lady who was taken to Kericho hospital was seriously injured" an onlooker responded.
We were at the Kericho hospital recently we checked in the registry no one known as Martha in any ward" Henry said
"Are you sure?" Thomas asked
"Yes we were, we went around the wards to ascertain if Martha was in the wards maybe she was unconscious when she was admitted and no one knew her name," Wilson said.
"Let's go to the hospital," Thomas said
They board the police vehicle and the onlookers watched as Thomas drove the police vehicle to Kericho hospital
"Please remember my token but you made a mistake by wanting to give it at the police station," Thomas said.
"Is it illegal to have given you the token at the police station?" Henry asked.
"No, my boss could have demanded more and you could dip more into your pocket," Thomas said
Thomas drove to the Kericho hospital, in the hospital many patients were seeking medical service as the queue was very long Thomas used his police Id to meet the hospital administration he entered the head of administration.
"Hallow sir l am a police detective I want to know if someone known as Martha Rotich is in this hospital either alive or dead," Thomas asked
John the head of administration removed the file, he summoned the head of the nurses to come.
"Here with me is Thomas the detective I would like you to take her around the hospital to check if there is a patient known as Martha Rotich" The administrator ordered.
"I have with me two family members with me they will join me to identify her if she is in the facility," Thomas said
"That's a good idea," John said
Henry and Wilson were invited into the room and given directions to go around all the wards to search for Martha as John the administrator checked on the records.
The detective went around all the wards but no sign of Martha finally they got into a room in that room Henry heard the cries of two children he was touched.
"Whose babies are those" Henry asked
"Babies that are in the incubator were born prematurely" the Nurse responded
"Can we go and see them?" Henry said
The nurse was surprised she opened the door of the incubator and found two nurses.
Henry observed his twin babies without knowing that it was his children he was moved and wished to hold them in his hands but it was not possible.
"Where is their mother?"Henry asked
"Her mother passed on" Maggy responded
The detective is surprised by Henry's behavior towards the twin babies.
"Let's go," Thomas said
They left the head of the nurses in the baby's room as they go back to the police station.
"Who is that man?" Maggy asked
"A man looking for a lost wife that involved in an accident they came with the detective to check on her if she is in this hospital," The head of nurses said.
"Did they get any glue?" Sandy asked
"No there is no one here known as Martha" Jane heard if the nurses responded.
Jane left Sandy and Maggy hugged one another.
We are very lucky the twin is ours.
