Chapter 20
So now I had to sit as still as possible. Which was really hard because those pins and needles were all over my body now, and my lungs longed to suck in air the way Roarr had.
But Roarr and Halldis were still behind me. Between me and the only way out. I didn't know if they were looking my way, but I couldn't take the chance. I had to pretend that nothing had changed and bide my time, at least until they moved away from that door.
They were still there, murmuring at each other as before. Then finally they started to move. I heard the rustle of Halldis' skirt and the clunk of Roarr's boots. Then Halldis came into view, walking backward as she towed Roarr after her, his hand in both of hers. She was smiling at him, and her skin had that glow to it again.
