Chapter Seven: Waking Up The Boy

2121 Words
Elyes The door opened to reveal a cosy little room with one single bed and one window that was tainted with a spell so you couldn´t see the reality outside, but instead there was just a clouded and rainy sky. Under the window there was a table with one single chair. The sound of a regular deep breathing came form a small body sleeping on the bed. The boy was breathing steadily and still deep in his dreams that would soon turn into nightmares. I knew it too well. I once went through the process and even though mine didn´t require the awakening of the power it was still very painful and tiresome. My mind was telling me to go and have it over with, do the envitable, but my heart was squeazing in anguish and agony for the small hybrid boy. I could feel his potential from afar when I first saw him. Although, I couldn´t sense and connect with his magic but I knew it would awake when he would be a little bit older. There was still time for his powers to grew and develop into a very strong and level-headed wizard. Together with his wolf and abilities that brought he would definitely be an dangerous rival. If he learnt how to control his magical powers and combine it with the werewolf it would definitely be a sight to see. Unfortunately, that would probably never happen. What a pity! I shook my head and pushed the feelings down hardening my heart and face. My expression turned cold and unreadable. I made myself not caring about the outcome of the testing. It was just another hybrid nothing more. I walked closer to him and leant over putting my hand on his little shoulder before shaking him awake lightly. He didn´t require a lot to wake up as his eyes opened revealing a pale green colour that was still clouded by the veil of sleep. "Wake up, boy!" I told him with a cold and harsh voice. "Whhhat?" he asked me suprised as his eyes moved over the room probably not knowing where he was as I moved him here just few days ago and he basically just slept. Since I took him from the pack he was kept unconcious, under the sleeping spell as I didn´t want to stress him. The screaming and crying child was the last thing I needed right now. My looked at him with my stone cold expression as his hooded and disoriented eyes connected with mine. They were filled with confusion as he started to looked around watching the unknown room. "Who are you?" he aksed me with a small unsure voice as he pale eyes connected with mine. "What is your name?" He tried another question, but instead of relaying him I just continued to observe him. I could see the fear and uncertainity in his pale green eyes, but he appeared to be very calm on the outside, not throwing any tantrum so far and I very much appreciated it. I didn´t know how to deal with children and I wasn´t in the mood to do so. I would probably just stunned him again probably and I didn´t have time for it now as master was waiting for us to come. We were going to awake Lucas´s powers. I didn´t answer his question, I just stared at him as I saw the tears gathering in his scared little eyes. He gulped pushing the tears away and trying to look braver than he was. He sat up on the bed and continued to looked around probably trying to find some clues. When he was finished he turned his gaze back to me as I was stading in the doorway and waiting. He had an defying glint in his pale green eyes that I liked. He reminded me of someone. Who, I didn´t know. "Where am I?" He asked another question, but got the same reply from me. Silence. I wasn´t planning to reveal anything to him. It was for the best that he stayed in the dark. Too many information would be dangerous. "What is this place?" he tried again, but when he didn´t get any answer form me he just scowled and jumped out of the bed. Well, finally! I needed to get him up and going. The rest he took this previous days should be enough and now he needed food. He was tall for his age with a lean boyish form and light blond hair tossled from the long sleep. His pale green eyes were dull and filled with dread, fear and uncertainity. I knew that child should never be feeling this way, but there wasn´t really anything I could do not that I even wanted. "Why am I here?" third question slipped pass his lips as he released frustrated groan when I just tilted my head to the side and watched him with my penetrating and scrutinizing gaze. "You are not going to answer me, are you?" he sighed as his green eyes shone a little with upcoming tears. I shouldn´t care about him, but then why did I feel the small pang inside me chest? What was the feeling? I pushed it down, emotions were weakness. I didn´t udnerstand what was happening with me, but it seemed something in me changed after the encounter with the she-wolf. That wasn´t good. I needed to be cold and distant. It was the only way how to survive here and serve my master properly. "Are you just going to stare at me?" the boy asked yet another question, his little voice now more mocking, but he couldn´t fool me. He was just trying a different tactics, not appear weak or vunerable but instead cocky and brave. The corner of my mouth lifted a bit as I watched his scowl again at me before his small face scruntched in angry expression. "Are you mute or retarded?" the boy, Lucas asked me and I could see he was agitated. As much as I was enjoying his luck of control and impatience I didn´t have a time to waste. We relly needed to go soon. Master was waiting. It was obvious to me that he was fighting the urge to cry and scream with rudness and a sassy attitue, but he was no match for me. I was trained to be patient, serious, impasssive, prudent and very emotionless. So, I didn´t react again. I just stood there having a staring competition with him. I didn´t talk much normally, so it wasn´t a big deal for me to be silent, but it seemed it was for him. He was quite chatty. He started to bite his lower lip as he jumped from the bed and nervouslly paced in the room. His disquisitive gaze feel on me again as I folded my hands in front of me. He glanced behind me on the opened door as if he was considering his options. As if he could overpower me and ran away. Foolish boy! I was much stronger than him and a very skilled wizard for that matter, but still I had to admire the courage a bit. It was a good thinking for a child. His instincts were leading him to escape the potential danger, but he didn´t know there was no way to leave this hell hole. I waved my hand seeing the clothes appear out of nowhere from the thin air and fell down to the floor in front of Lucas. He glanced down at the black trousers and black t-shirt and than back at me with puzzled expression. "You are a wizard," he said the obvious making me roll my eyes at him. "Dress!" I told him harshly gesturing with my head towards the pile of clothes on the ground. "Make me!" Lucas said stubbornly as he took an defying stance making me chuckle. He was indeed a brave boy or stupid. One of those for sure. I took one step towards him seeing as he froze, his eyes going wide with fear and his body rigid with expectation of what would happen. I smiled dangerously at him seeing him gulp loudly as he breathed went ragged with the fear, but I didn´t plan doing anything. just wanted to scare him a little. He was obviosuly spirited, iron-willed and headstrong. That was good, it would help to be stronger in the future. One of my hands lifted as the fire started on my palm getting stronger and bigger with every second. His jaw dropped as he looked at me flabbergasted when the heat of the fire spread and hit his skin. He hissed and jumped back to avoid the fire. The fireball in my hand had a size of a melon now with the intensity of a burning bonfire as I swirled it in the air pretending to throw it his direction. He ducked down on the ground with a shriek and covered his head with his hands. The sound of me chuckling filled the silence as I extinguished the fireball with a snap of my fingers. I bent down and picked him up by a pyjama t-shirt he was wearing puting him back to his little feet. He looked at me with a defiance in his green eyes. He definitely was a rebel! "Dress," I said again now with more calmer and not so harsh voice. The boy sighed heavily, his eyes still not looking away from me as if he expected me to attack him as he took the clothes from the ground. I turned around and went to the door waiting for him to put the clothes on. I heard rustling as he changed his clothes. "All done!" he exclaimed, "Happy now?" he asked me with that sassy tone again. It seemed like my threat lasted just a couple of minutes. He really needed to learn how to behave and bit his tongue when he would speak with my master, otherwise it would be a very painful experience for him. "Come on," I said in the end as our staring competition continued, gesturing to the door. "I want to go home!" he shouted out of nowhere and stompped his foot down. "Walk!" I had ordered with my voice already tired of his rebelious attitude. He pursed his little lips and pouted after as he averted his head defying my order again. I internally rolled my eyes, but my face stayed stone cold and blank letting him know that his antics had no influence on me. "I want my mummy!" he continued to vail making me grit my teeth. I erased the distance between us with two long steps taking his small hand and dragging him out of the room. Lucas squealed in shock before gathering himself as I pulled him down the hall and down the stairs. "Don´t wrinkle my clothes," he huffed at me making em even more annoyed with him that I already was, but I smiled internally at his courage. Clearly, I didn´t have the patience when it came to little, irritating, know it all children. I never had to deal with them so far and this one was annoying the hell out of me. Constantly talking and asking questions. Didn´t he know how to be quiet? Were all children like this? "What are you taking me?" He asked me as we crossed the huge hall and continued to walk towards master´s office on the otherside of the mansion. "You will soon find out," I told him enigmatically with a scary lop-sided smile making him gulp. I dragged him along with me as he started to struggle in my grip, but it was with no avail. I was much more stroger than mere child without a wolf or magical power. He didn´t stand a chance! I knocked at the door as we finally reached our destination hearing master´s vocie on the other side allowing me to enter. I pushed Lucas in seeing as he froze in fear seeing the powerful warlock standing in the middle of the room that was lighted by a candles levitating in the air as the dark magic fille the room. "Welcome, little hybrid." Master´s chilling voice greeted Lucas and I knew there was nothing good awaiting for the boy now.
