17 I nodded, and so we crept into the narrow tunnel. A simple rail system started a foot inside the tunnel and ran along the dirt floor. A line of torches alternated on either side of the walls. The tunnel angled left and downward as it stretched for a hundred feet. The passage opened into a large cavern where the rail branched out to end at several points in the room. Those dead ends were crowded with crates, boxes, and bags. The torches were replaced with gas light that were fed by a coil which came out of a tunnel at the far end of the room.
