Andrel Raven’s POV
“Sigurado ka na talaga sa desisyon mong ito, Boss?” tanong sa akin ni Leon matapos naming ihatid si Clea sa tapat ng apartment niya. “You already did your all just to avoid getting involved with that woman for two whole years. Yet, all your efforts were wasted just because she got close to you because of her job.”
“I avoided her because the Azaria Clan has been keeping their eyes on her,” I said. “Well, not that I care what they can do to me but I was just sure back then that they would take her back to the palace if she ever got involved with me back then.”
I knew Clea Mair when I arrived in this country seven years ago. But I never had a chance to see her in person since she was kept away by her family.
I was curious about her but I never bothered to learn anything about her. For me at that time, she was just a sheltered princess.
Well, not until I got her profile from the list of bride candidates for my elder brother. That was the first time I saw her, even just in the photo.
My brother sent them to me to recommend someone from a good family since whoever he marries will rule the Reveni Empire together with him.
I immediately took her out of the option. I even deleted all the traces that Azaria sent to their candidate. Because to be honest, I was already attracted to her the very first time I laid my eyes on her.
I guess the curse-s***h-blessing that runs in our family is true. Men in our family often love at first sight with the most interesting woman that we see or meet.
It is the reason why I didn’t recommend her to become my brother’s bride but that bastard got behind me and managed to connect with the king of Hexoria Kingdom.
That is how they got their arrangement. And it was when I learned everything about why they made that agreement.
I don’t like that she became my brother’s fiancee, but when I finally saw Clea Mair in person, getting outside of the palace, living her life alone, getting off her job, enjoying her life, happy, I couldn’t do anything but let everything happen.
Given the reason her father made this favor from my brother and the smile that I saw for the very first time, I don’t want to ruin everything for her.
I once tried to approach her when I accidentally saw her in a coffee shop but I felt the glances of a lot of people around watching her every move.
I have spies everywhere around the country and they informed me that the Azaria’s elder was keeping Clea Mair on twenty-four/seven surveillance to look for a reason to take her back inside the palace.
So, I kept my distance. But I always tried my best to see her even from afar whenever I had free time to check on her. That is all I can do to keep everything
But everything changed because of Iona, one of my employees. She was the one who pushed Clea Mair’s appointment even though she was aware that I was keeping my distance from that woman.
I confronted her with this and the only thing that she told me was that she was tired of seeing me like a stalker who went to the place where Clea Mair went. So, she took things matters on her own.
And this is the result of that.
“I already made a deal with Aden,” I said. “As long as I do my part, he will protect Clea Mair and her freedom. I will also get the freedom to be with her in the span of those two years.”
“Pero pagkatapos ng lahat ng ito, sa bandang huli ay magiging asawa pa din siya ng kapatid mo,” aniya. “Is that what you really want?”
I sighed and looked at him. “My life is messy, Leon.” I leaned in my car and brushed my hair. “You of all people know how much trouble I could give to the people close to me. Hindi ko kailanman gugustuhin na madamay si Clea Mair sa gulong mayroon ako. She is better off with Aden.”
My brother might not love her romantically but I know that he will respect her and protect her with everything he can. He will make sure that even though she is a Hexorian princess who belongs to the Azaria Clan, she will hold the power of the empress. He can make everyone accept her and no one will dare to do anything against her once they get married.
“It is better this way, dude,” I said. “I only ask for a little time with her. That is all. And when it all times up, I will gladly let her go.”
“You are not a selfless lover, Boss,” naiiling niyang sambit. “That is why I can’t believe I am hearing this straight to your mouth.”
Well, who would have thought that I would settle for this just for one woman? I can get any woman I want. I can control them the way I want it. I can make them obedient with just a snap of my fingers.
Yet here I am, doing my brother’s bidding just to be with Clea Mair.
“Up until now, I still can’t believe that every man in your family fell in love with their significant others the first time they saw them and made their relationship work well.” He patted my shoulder and gave me a sympathetic look. “But I guess, you and your brothers are exempt from that.”
I sighed again.
Aden was not allowed to be with the woman he loved because he was the emperor.
I handed the woman that I like to my brother because I have a lot of trouble in my life.
Akia doesn’t have anyone he likes. He was too busy with his garden and greenhouse. He even refused to go out of his farm and socialize with others.
And our little sister, Andrielle, was probably not interested in romantic relationships with other people because she found a lot of people annoying.
“I just hope this is what you really want, Boss,” he added. “Two years is just a short time. You might regret making this deal with your brother and make things more complicated than that.”
