“I think I may have a lead,” Elizabeth said, and I kept my gaze on the wooden desk that sat largely between us.
“On?” I asked as casually as I could.
“On where the rebels may be getting together,” she explained, but I could see that she was suddenly on guard.
“And how did you find that out?” I questioned as I leaned back and finally looked over at her.
“I’ve…you know…um…” she broke eye contact and suddenly her fingers were interesting. “In order to find out more…I’ve sent some close friends out…like feelers,”
“Hmm, and? What did they find out?” I then asked. Her eyes darted to mine and then back down.
