Chapter 27

611 Words
Jessie knew Fredd. Brian knows Casey. But Jessie didn't know Casey and Freed didn't know Brian. They get to know each other and tell a lot about their journey so far. Including Casey and Freed who pointed at Sebastian's corpse which was not far from them. Jessie and Brian who were curious immediately approached him. "Oh, jeez!" said Brian. As for Jessie, she seemed immune to something sadistic and blood. The girl didn't show any reaction. She took an old newspaper that was not far and covered Sebastian's body. "I think we'd better get out of here," Casey suggested. "I agree," said Fredd. "But it's almost night. Shouldn't we rest here for a while?" “I think the same as Jessie. After all, there is no other safe place to rest than here. The meadow was very wide and full of bushes. I'm afraid that when we sleep there will be snakes or venomous snakes that bite us." "Okay. We will continue our journey tomorrow." Casey agreed. "I'll gather wood to make a bonfire so we don't get cold." Fredd walked away picking up wood. "Let me help. You two can prepare food while we look for wood and make a bonfire,” Brian said to the two girls. After making the bonfire, they ate canned food together. One for Casey and Jessie, the other for Brian and Fredd. While one bottle of mineral water should be enough for the four of them. However, they have to be frugal. Because they don't know when they can get food and water again. No one spoke while they ate the food. Just chewing while looking straight at the bonfire. Casey pulled a map out of her bag, attracting the attention of her three friends. “Did you have the maps too?” Jessie asked. "Yes, I did. Fredd also has two maps. Why?” Jessie looked at Brian, he immediately took out his map as well. They put the four pieces of the map together. Jessie's map and one of Fredd's maps are matched, but not the others. They turned the two maps upside down. There are pieces of letters that almost form a small "U". "What's that do you think?" Casey asked. “I think that's another clue. Letters, pictures, or maybe numbers,” guessed Fredd. "Not. It is a number. Either eight or ten." Brian watched seriously. "How can you be so sure?" Casey asked. "Look at this line." Brian pointed to a line that looked like the letter 'I', “Do you think there are letters that have separate parts? Of course not, right? It must be number one.” "Then next?" Jessie asked. "The line that looks like the letter 'U' must be zero or eight," replied Fredd. Brian looked at Fredd. Fredd looked back with a proud smile. "It makes a sense," Casey said "That means our job right now is to find the other pieces of the map." Fredd was very excited. “I thought so too, but where can we get the rest?” They fell silent hearing Jessie's question. "How many days do you think we've been here?" Brian asked. “Six or a week. I guess," Casey replied. "It's been quite a while. I think the other participants already have the rest.” "It mean we should find them," continued Jessie. "That's right! We should find them to get the rest.” "Okay. We'd better get some rest so we can start our journey earlier." They agreed with Fredd's proposal. Casey and Jessie pulled out an old newspaper and slept together. While Fredd and Brian were on the other side not far from them.
