One. The Attack

"Sinister!” It was the scream of a woman. Loud and piercing through the night air. The voice was filled with so much hate, fury and disgust that it stood the furs of Sinister’s wolf on end. As he turned to address the voice, he was face to face with a woman, she held a ball of fire in her eyes. Eyes red and fuming. A Fire Element. Those were the most dangerous of the elements. Fire Elements were the most destructive element and most of the time they were hot-tempered and easily triggered leading them to attack and destroy everything in their paths in a blinding moment of fury. This particular element seemed to be out of control with rage. Before Sinister could attack her he was being consumed in what felt like a furnace of fire. It was different from having a fireball thrown, that one he could easily avoid, this one covered his frame and Sinister could only writhe in its fury. All of a sudden it stopped and the woman was dropping dead, neck slit with blood pooling in the spot she had been standing in. Cullen’s wolf was standing over her dead body, digging deeper into the bleeding in her neck, gutting her. Even with his Alpha healing abilities, Sinister knew that he needed to get the help of a healer or these burns wouldn’t be going anywhere for a while. Transforming into his human form, he struggled to a sitting position, wincing as pain erupted in every corner of his body. “That looks really bad.” Cullen said, having transformed to his human form too. Sinister sneered at him as best as he could from his vulnerable position. The Beta barely flinched, he was after all the most exposed to the temper and wrath of the Alpha and had grown accustomed to it. Cullen helped Sinister stand and with his arms firmly on his shoulders, doing his best to avoid his burns, they began trudging towards the Alpha’s home. “Send for Elina.” He whispered to his Beta, who nodded his head in acknowledgment. Elina was the packs healer. She was an elderly woman with weird tendencies and she had a young girl who stayed with her and helped her with her work. And the mystery surrounding the said girl was something the Alpha hadn’t been able to figure out himself. There were a lot of rumors surrounding the healer and her protégée. None of which had ever bothered the Alpha, as he barely ever had to come in contact with the healer. He healed faster and better than any other wolf or being, so he never needed the help of a healer, but it seems like it was going to be different today. The moment that they got to his home, Cullen helped him into his room, setting him gently on the bed, covering his nakedness with the sheets that sat on the bed. Modesty wasn’t really a thing with werewolves but Cullen felt the need to do it for the sake of the healer that was on her way. He had mind linked one of the warriors to fetch her from her cabin, a little away from the pack grounds. Sinister let his mind wander to the fight that had just taken place. He couldn’t figure out who the attackers were since they were all in wolf form and the fact that they had an element amongst them, further proved their strength and accuracy. Elements were rare to find especially fire elements, since they were so dangerous and short tempered, and extremely selfish no pack or kingdom wanted them in it. So finding and successfully keeping one was extremely difficult. As the thoughts rolled around in his head they all suddenly came to a halt as a strange sensation began to overwhelm him, his chest tightened and his head began swimming. All at once his body that had been heating as a result of the burns he had just gotten, felt like he had been doused in very cold water. He shivered from the feeling. A knock sounded on his door and his heart hammered almost painfully in his chest. What the hell was happening? Sinister was confused at what he was feeling. It wasn’t like anything he had ever felt. Cullen stepped out of the bedroom to open the door for the healer and the moment that the person stepped into his home, he felt such a great pull that could only be described as magnet to iron. He gasped lowly, squinting slightly to observe the young girl that had just walked into the room. She had a scarf covering her head and wore a dress that looked bigger than her. And when she raised her eyes for the first time, his breath seized in his throat and he felt like he was having some sort of heart attack. Eyes the color of amethyst, stared into his blue orbs. The intensity in her eyes almost made him cower. Sinister couldn’t begin to explain the feelings that ran through him. It was impossible that this was his mate for a million reasons. There was the curse to begin with, he was never going to have a mate, that had been set in stone a long, long time ago. Then he couldn’t even smell her neither did he feel a mate bond, or any of the things that came with finding one’s mate. All that he could feel was an insanely strong presence that overwhelmed him. Elina is out deep in the woods, gathering herbs for her potions. This is her protégée and she came instead to attend to you.” Cullen said, seemingly unaffected by the strange feeling that crawled through Sinister. He left the room shortly after this, leaving the Alpha and the healer in it. Sinister frowned at this, she had no scent on her, he couldn’t tell what kind of being she was. The girl approached him and the necklace that donned her neck caught his eyes. It was a simple necklace with a stone in the middle. The stone was the colors of her eyes and they complimented her pale skin. She moved slowly towards the bed and perched herself at the edge of it. Small dainty fingers reached into the bag that had been on her shoulders, pulling out different bottles and a small towel. The way that she worked was very careful and meticulous. She poured one of the potions onto the small towel and reached for his arms. The moment that her small fingers touched his skin, he jerked them away from her. Her touch was icy cold, it was almost scary. Amethyst eyes met his once again and she seemed to be searching for something on his face. After a couple of seconds, she seemed satisfied with whatever she seemed to have found because she nodded once. “I need to clean your wounds.” She said simply and another shiver ran through Sinister’s spine at her voice. The sound of it seemed to reverberate in his head. It was the softest, silkiest voice he had ever heard. Her voice was almost like a whispered song. Smooth and calm, compelling him to listen to her and do exactly what she asked. He offered his arm before he could stop himself and watched with hooded eyes as she carefully began cleaning his burns with the towel, she covered his arms, then moved to his chest and not long after, his back. Sinister sat unmoving in one spot, allowing her do what she wanted. After she was done with wiping his wounds clean, she picked another bottle and poured its content into her palms, it was oil. She pressed it gently into his skin, massaging the oil carefully on his wounds. “What is your name?” Sinister asked after a long silence. Watching her carefully as she continued to massage the oil into his skin. He was starting to feel better and whatever she was doing was helping his healing abilities begin their functions of healing again. For a while, she didn’t answer his question, concentrating on what she was doing and Sinister believed he wasn’t going to get an answer to his question instead of scolding her in the way that he would have done if any other being did the same, he simply relaxed against the bed and let his thoughts run again, while she continued to work. Sinister thought back to the beginning of the sudden attack till the moment that he had been burnt by the element. The biggest fear of every pack was being attacked when they least expected it especially in the dead of the night, when the majority were sleeping and the pack was left vulnerable under the dim lights of the moon. However, that was not the case for the Sinister Moon pack, the pack was known and feared for its vicious reputation as the biggest, most daring pack to ever exist. Ran and handled by the Almighty Alpha Sinister himself. The Alpha not only ruled with an iron fist, he executed at the slightest provocation. It was truly surprising for other packs and kingdoms that this particular pack was able to stand alone, with no alliance whatsoever -since everyone either feared or loathed the pack- with any other pack. Plus, this was the only pack where Elements and Witches were banned and if one was to be caught in its vicinities they were immediately killed and burnt on sight. Packs and Kingdoms thrived on affiliation, alliances and the different abilities that came from different creatures. Although, werewolves were at the top of the chain, often being ranked as the most powerful, they still needed other beings, specifically witches and elements. How Sinister had managed to run his pack without any of them and still accomplish the title as the most feared pack was beyond anyone’s knowledge. Echoing cries and screams pierced the air as the Sinister Moon pack defended its land against the attack. Bodies were strewn here and there and blood ran like a river on the ground, bathing the warriors in it. It was obvious that this attack had been well structured and had been planned for a very long time. The attackers came out in batches, when one set was defeated another set emerged from the shadows to continue from where it stopped. The Sinister Moon pack was obviously very powerful and strong, the warriors well trained but it was only a matter of time before fatigue and frustrations set in and it seem like that had been the plan. Sinister could see his warriors grow tired and impatient by the minute, it felt like they had been fighting for a long time, and there was no end in sight because as soon as one set was defeated another emerged from no where. “Gather the majority of the men and go through the back ends. Search through the land to figure out where they keep coming from, how many they are and who the head of this entire attack is.” Sinister mind linked Cullen his Beta. “That’s too dangerous, there’s power in number, if we divide ourselves, then we’ll be left vulnerable.” Cullen argued making Sinister release a growl. “That’s a f*****g order Cullen. There’s no need doing this back and forth with these filthy petty wolves, what if they stop coming and we think that’s the last of them and then decide to retreat but then they begin again when we are exhausted with no adrenaline to fuel from?” Sinister asked, turning the glowing golden eyes of his wolf to look at his Beta. Cullen understood the message in those eyes and bowing his head slightly in submission, he mind linked the warriors and all at once they split, confusing the attackers, giving Sinister and the warriors that had been left behind, the right distraction to finish them off, before going ahead to comb through the pack ground as well as the outskirts for the rest of them. They couldn’t be that much anymore, no pack had this large amount of warriors, so it was obvious an alliance had been formed to carry out this operation. The screams and cries finally died down after hours of war. The entire ground had been uncovered and the other wolves in hiding had been taken down pretty quickly. And just as they had started heading back to the pack they heard it. It felt as though Sinister has been submerged in a memory shard, he could hear the Fire Element scream his name in fury, but just before she could burn him, the young healer before him was speaking again. “Aerith. My name is Aerith.” Sinister frowned in thoughts, that name sounded eerily familiar. He had heard it somewhere before and then it clicked. His eyes darkening at the realization.
