Chapter 6

4086 Words
It's been a while and I've been thinking for a while since King Hyde left me with, of course, questions in my head that there's no answer again. I mean… is he talking about some party? And if he is, why so he has to bring me with him? But then, thinking about how my life would be. As I said, I don't know how to start this new life I'm talking about. Maybe I'll just go with the flow and let destiny plays a major role in my life. Another thing. It's so confusing. Everything I'm feeling is just new to me. And everything I'm experiencing… it's foreign in my body that I don't know how to react with it. I heard a knock in my door that caused me to be brought back into reality. I was about to stand up and open it when it suddenly opened by itself and before I could react, the glaring eyes of Cornelia— as if I did something bad, welcome my sight. “Get your ass up and change,” She said coldly as she placed a white dress and black sandals in my side table. When she noticed that I'm not moving, she looked at my place again with crossed arms and eyebrow up, like she's telling me to move now, or die later. “Why—” But I couldn't even complete my words when she suddenly cut it. “Just do what I say.” She said before she turned her back on me, and with a last glance to see if I'm moving or not. I quickly grabbed the dress which as I gave her a big smile. She finally turned her back and exited my room while I sighed deeply as if I'm finally out of trouble after she turned her back on me. I sighed as I decided to wear it since I've done taking a bath earlier. I let my clothes fall into my body as my thoughts drifted into somewhere again. Living my life with these vampires is really dangerous, and I know that. I don't know if I should be glad that they aren't doing anything to me yet or I should be scared that maybe, they're waiting for something to happen before they do. Or even there's a sudden change of circumstances where I, a human, would be their slave— and I'm talking their blood slave until I lost all my blood and die. I shivered at that thought as I quickly erased that by shaking my head. Though I'm thankful at them for not doing those things that happened to me back then in Hell Mansion. I was wrong with what I'm thinking earlier because right now, even if it's just for a short period of time, I realized that I'm slowly living the new life I've been craving for, and it all started when they saved me from that hell. I looked at my body through the full body mirror in my room. It's just a simple off-shoulder white mermaid nightdress. I smile at myself, looking that I realized, slowly, my body's improving. I'm not that thin anymore and right now, I could say that my body's just right for my liking. I'm loving the dress too. It's simple and no other design so I know I wouldn't get any attention later. I just let my waist-lengthed hair to fall through my shoulders as I combed it, making its waves to dance through my back. I put some powder in my face as wetted my lips with mu saliva as I smile in myself. That's when I heard the door opened. Looking through at it, I saw Wilhelmina who seems like dazzled for a while as she looked at my whole body. I was shocked too, especially that it's my first time to see her wearing something aside from her maid-like outfit. She's wearing a black long sleeves turtle neck long dress but the sleeves are made from transparent materials with some sequins on it as its design. She's wearing a bun too, and there's some makeup on her face that makes hee looks so elegant. She looks like a goddess. I couldn't help my mouth gape while looking at her. “Are you ready?” I nodded with her answer. She stopped for a while as I saw her eyes turned slit for a while before she sighed. “Not yet. Wait for me here,” She said and in just a blink of an eye, she disappeared. And when I blinked again, she's already in front of me holding some… Wait… aren't those makeups? And before I could react, she's already in front of me. “Sit here. Faster.” She ordered with her natural impatient voice that I couldn't do but follow her in panic. “Close your eyes, I'll do it fast because they're waiting. Now.” So I closed my eyes as I felt her put something on my face with her vampire speed. It hasn't reached 5 minutes when she said, “Done, open your eyes.” After putting something on my lips as my gaze turned into my mirror. My eyes widen at the beautiful girl looking back at me. But before I could appreciate her face, Wilhelmina suddenly made me stand that I almost lost balance. Thank heavens, I'm wearing a two inches heels only. Maybe if I wear something higher than it, I don't know if I could still stand. “Where are we going?” I asked her as we walk through the stairs as I hold in its handle to guide myself. Finally, the place looks good, and that everything's now clean, thanks to the maids. “In a party at the Underworld.” she took a glimpse at me… particularly on my exposed neck as she added. “So take care of yourself,” That made my body cold. “Relax,” Dahlia said and giggles. “They won't be going to hurt you,” She added as she gave me a genuine smile. I sighed heavily as I tried to calm myself but the nervousness just wouldn't leave my body. My eyes stopped at Carmela who's in front. She's looking through her mobile phone and when she felt my stares, she lifted her head and gave me a smile before she turned her attention to it again. I haven't seen her for a while and I don't know why but it seemed like she changed, or maybe I'm just assuming things. Looking at Clydeus who looks annoyed as he constantly pulls his necktie yet Dahlia always stopped him and fixing his tie so he's left with no choice but to let her do it, yet he'll just pull it again in annoyance. “Uhm… could I ask what's kind of party we'll be going at?” I asked to ease the temperature because it feels suffocating. Everyone's here yet no one's talking with each other aside from Clydeus and Dahlia, of course. “It is a party of noble, high ranked people in our world. So you better watch your back or see yourself begging for your life.” Cornelia said sharply while looking outside. I was silenced after hearing what she said. Now I wanted to turn my back and stayed in the room until is done. My heart starts beating fast in horror that I might do something and knowing that only a little mistake could bring your life to an edge of the cliff and let you fall from it. I felt someone hold my already shaking hands that are on my lap, and when I saw the owner of it giving me a warm smile, I couldn't help but to be calm for a little. “Don't worry, Zane. We won't let you get hurt.” I heard Dahlia said as she gave me a smile. That's when I noticed what she's wearing. Her light blue dress compliments her body, especially her golden eyes. Her hair is on a bun but I think it was braided first, as she out some diamond designs on it. Carmela's wearing a maroon off-shoulder too, but unlike mine, she's just fitted with a slit on her left thigh. Carmela's wearing a bloody red one, and her style is sleeveless with a deep V line but it just made her look sophisticated. Clydeus, however, looks annoyed with his suits and tie as he's trying to remove it since he's feeling hot while wearing it, he said. From the looks of it, he doesn't want to wear a tux. “You look cute, Clydé,” I said which caused him to stop removing it as he lifted his tiny face to look at me. “But it's hot and itchy,” He said and pouted. I chuckled at his cuteness. The truth is, I'm still nervous. The only thing I'm holding is what Dahlia said— that they will protect me. But knowing that high ranks people would be there… I closed my eyes tightly as I sighed heavily. It'll be okay, Zane. It'll be. Que sera, sera. Whatever happens, happens. Now then, I wondered why Seifer isn't with us. I looked at Dahlia and asked hee about it, and what she said really shocked me. “Seifer's a Prince so he'll be attending the party with his family,” She smiles at my shocked face as she continues. “There's more. Wait until we got there,” She said and chuckled. I couldn't believe it.. all those times, I've been with the Prince already? “And King Hyde's already there. He just came back here for god-knows-why but he suddenly back because he needs there.” I look at her with what she just voiced out even I'm not asking but then, she's smirking. “You're welcome, Zane.” And she even lifted her brows like saying ‘you know it,’ as I suddenly remembered what she said about her imagination— of a King who'll fall to a lowly servant! I closed my eyes as I exhaled. Unbelievable, Dahlia. Unbelievably unbelievable! “We're here,” Wilhelmina's voice echoed, who's sitting in front. Instantly, I felt my body cold in fear as I started shaking. I sighed deeply, as I felt their stares to me. “You'll be okay,” Cornelia said before she came out of the limousine. I was shocked by what she said, nevertheless, I tried to calm myself. I sighed deeply again as I closed my eyes. Calm down, you'll be okay, Zane. “Cornelia's right. We're here,” Dahlia said as I sighed again. Yes. They're here. I closed my eyes again and bite my lips. “Don't bite your lips, you're ruining your lipstick.” I heard Carmela said as she looked at Wilhelmina who came in our aid. “Hey, Mina. Did you bring her lipstick?” Maybe she's talking to the pink one. Wilhelmina shook her head, still in the front seat. “I forgot.” She answered while looking at her purse before I heard the door opening. “Uh-oh,” She looked at Dahlia which the other shook her head, too. Gaze transferred at Cornelia but I heard the door of the limousine closed as she's already walking away from us. Dahlia shook her head as she called Clydeus who opened the door and ran away from us. Dahlia followed Clydeus so he wouldn't get lost in this place. Carmela sighed as I look at her. She opened her purse and brought a red lipstick— I saw it when she opened the cup. “This is the only thing I brought.” As she gets some wipes and gently wiping my lipstick. After that, she started putting me her red lipstick. “There, you look like a lady with this lipstick,” She said as she smirked. “Couldn't wait for them to get crazy crawling at your foot,” She whispered as she placed her hand which is hidden with gloves on my face slowly. “You really are beautiful, Queen Valkyrie,” She whispered that only us heard it before she left me inside the limousine with deep thoughts running in my head. Queen Valkyrie? Who's that? Before I could even ask, I felt the knocking on the window as I look at it, I saw Dahlia while holding Clydeus at her other arms. I sighed heavily as I ready myself. This is it, Zane. Please be calm. After I came out of the limousine and looked at the place where we're in, I couldn't help but say how uninvited I am at this place. “Zane, Let's go?” Dahlia got my attention. I look at her and nodded hesitantly. I couldn't help but gaze at the beautiful and big place in front of me. I didn't notice it before because I could only see the forest in the distance but when I finally look out, I was startled and suddenly we were in front of this huge palace. I'm feeling so little especially when I saw some people walking confidently wearing their best dress as if it's a fashion contest, not a party itself. “Don't be surprised, the surroundings around this palace are under an illusion, to hide it from uninvited creatures,” Dalia whispered to me, maybe she read the expression on my face in surprise. So maybe… the forest is just an illusion. I nodded slowly as I realized it. And when I say palace, it really is. It's so big that ever you come into their veranda, you'll see the entire place around it. “It is the smallest palace in our kingdom. The parties are really held here, as it is dangerous if they are in a real palace. This palace is owned by the late King, which was executed because of his bad deeds and the monarchy— which is known as the government in the human world— took care of this palace.” Mouth slightly hanged open, couldn't believe what Dahlia explains as we walk through the grass to the entrance where there are people guiding the guests. I swallowed and looked in front. A grand staircase made of gold is what I saw as we walk up to the large door where the light comes from within. The only lights out there are the small objects flying around. They are round, and the size is as big as our palm or smaller. “Those are orbs, the ones giving the light of our surroundings,” Dahlia whispered again like she's my tour guide in their world, and I appreciated it. The orbs are giving light to our surroundings with its different and rainbow colors. It looks at what you'll capture through a camera during the day and when you look through it. They're so beautiful, so vibrant. “Come on,” Dalia whispered to me, who made my gaze to turned forward, and from there, I saw them, Wilhelmina and the others, who are near the end of the stairs, close to the big door as if waiting for us. I kind of accelerated my climb up the stairs which was a bit difficult for me because of the heels I was wearing. It's just a two inches heels but I am not used to wearing any kind of it. Fortunately, my dress is long and I almost stepped on it. Sighing as I came to their place, I was shocked and amazed by what I'm seeing. From here I can see what's inside. Gold can be found throughout the environment, such as lighting, hanging designs, and more. The only distinctive colors are the garments here, as well as the flowers that giving life to the place. “Let's go,” Cornelia's cold voice echoed as she turned her back on us, leading the way through the entrance. Wilhelmina and the others followed. Nervously, I followed them while lowering my head to the ground but it was as if they're watching my move because Wilhelmina, who's in front of me, suddenly speak. “Don't bow your head. You're King Hyde's date. Head's up.” She said, still on her cold voice. I suddenly got confused about what she said. I am… King Hyde's date? What? Instantly, I hold the necklace in my neck. It is the only thing that's making me sane from all the things that happen around me. Dahlia insisted that I should wear it instead of just holding it through my hand earlier so now, I'm wearing it. I sighed deeply as I gathered all the courage I have in my body that I lifted my head, as my mouth gape from what I just witnessed. “Wow,” I whispered breathlessly as I heard Dahlia chuckled beside me. It was as if she read through my expression that's why she started explaining things. “Of course we aren't just wearing normal nightdresses, we're the King's companion after all,” But I just couldn't avert my eyes from what I'm seeing. Cornelia was the first to go inside. I could see the length of her bloody red dress suddenly increased its length with transparent length with some glitters until it settled down to the ground she entered. She looks as if she's part of a monarch because of the way she stands with her chin up. Her entrance has brought attention to people around us yet face remained full of confidence. Carmela followed next. Her maroon dress is long, too, but you can see the high slit on its side that shows her thigh. She walks with power and her smirking face just made me thought that it's the real her. Confident and beautiful yet dangerous lies within her. “Let's go, Zane. You can hold my hand if you're scared,” I look through my side where I heard that child voice, and from there, I saw Clydeus with his hand as if he's waiting for me to reach it. I smiled at him as I hold his hand. Now, he's not trying to remove his little tuxedo and he seems cool with it. His silver hair was slightly raised to show off his forehead and he wore a simple black suit. Looking at him, he is even more handsome. The next one who entered the place was Wilhelmina. Her black fitted long dress increased its length too, just like Cornelia's, and her entire night dress became shining like there are some glitters on it. I suddenly became nervous because we were next. “Let's go,” Dahlia said as she started walking. I sighed heavily as I followed. As I stepped my feet to the hall, I could feel my clothes change quickly. The sleeve of my dress was long but it remained transparent and shining like there are some glitters on it.  Aside from it, the back part of my dress increased its length as I could feel it through my back. “Let's go,” I quickly glanced at Wilhelmina who was on my side as she spoke. I nodded, ready to go but for a moment a man stood before us. And based on his appearance, it screaming danger. “What a beautiful lady. Can I take your hand for a—” He didn't finish what he was saying when suddenly, Cornelia came in front of me to block— or protect me from that man. I felt Clydeus' hold on me tightened as I heard Cornelia speaks. “Not her, Prince Vermion. Find someone else,” Cold, colder than the voice that Cornelia was using with me today. Just then I noticed that my companions were now surrounding me. Dalia is on the left where Clyde is, Wilhelmina is on the right side of the man, looking alerted too. Carmela is on my back yet feel her aura change. This little bit of madness comes very seriously from Cornelia herself as if she's ready to kill the man in front of us. I noticed that we were getting more attention as I could feel other people's eyes burning through my back, looking at me with curiosity. I swallowed and felt my legs tremble with fear, especially as they stare at me. I heard the man in front of us laugh, a kind of laugh that was terrifying to me. “Why being so protective, Princess Cornelia?” He said with a smirk on his dangerous face.  My eyes widen after hearing what he said. Princess? It means… Cornelia and Wilhelmina are Princesses. “Oops, my bad.” He added and laughed. And looking at the twin's face, it seems like any minutes from now, they are ready to kill for real. “If I were you, I'll look for some other prey for tonight, not this woman with us,” Wilhelmina said as she came into my aid, completely hiding me from the man. “If you're looking for some chaos, he wouldn't hesitate to give you that.” The man laughed, “Your King isn't here, is he?” As I saw the man stare through a little space and in his eyes, it became more dangerous. “I just want to dance with your goddess tonight,” He said looking through my eyes as if seducing me. I averted my gaze as I felt nervousness through my body. “Dance with someone else, you devil,” Carmela said so sharp that caused the guy to transfer his stare towards her. “What did you call me?” His voice became deeper as I'm scared that I saw his eyes flickered from brown to red. But Carmela… She just laughed. “Devil? You're devil aren't you?” She gritted her teeth as she gazes at the man sharply, “Preying the innocents who know nothing in this world. Unluckily for you, this woman is already owned by our King.” She said so seductively yet the man just laughed at what she said. "Owned by your King, huh?" The man laughed as if hearing the word King is really such a low title.  "Your f*****g King who—" It stopped for a moment as Cornelia approached him, and her index finger pointed at his neck. The reason why people around us gasped at the sudden move that Cornelia did. Cornelia, however, didn't care about it more than she cares at those people who would dirty the name of their King. "Can you please repeat what you've said, Prince Vermion?" Cornelia said softly but it was a shock to my whole body. There, I just noticed the aura coming from the people who are surrounding me. Those dangerous stares. The immense killing aura. They are ready to kill for their King. "What's happening here?" A very cold and terrifying voice thundered from somewhere, as I look at where the voice came from. At the passage from above, at the stairs, where I saw an old man, who was leading another seven men at his. He has this intimidating aura that badly wants you to kneel until he says enough. My instinct is saying he's dangerous, at the same time, safe. "Prime Minister Voixtres," At the same time, everyone, even my companions bowed their head in a manner that should've to be done so I did, especially when I noticed that they are powerful, as I saw the King at besides that man, looking at where the commotion is happening at. "Stand up." It is his powerful voice that made us stand. My companions welcomed the man with their chins up while I was the only one who bowed my head as I'm feeling intimidated by his aura. "What was happening here?" There is what authority in his voice that causes me to look at them. I saw the old man looking at the man in front of us whom they called Prince Vermion, and to Cornelia who was still fearless. "I was just asking the girl in a white dress for a dance, but they stopped me." The man said with a sharp voice as he explained it to the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister, then, looked at Cornelia who bowed her head a little before she lifted her gaze, looking through the Prime without fear and expression on her face. "Forgive me, Prime Minister, but this girl is precious." I could see everyone's forehead creasing in confusion as what Cornelia said. I felt a warm hand touched my heart as she said. The Prime Minister caught my attention. It looked like it was studying me. I felt awkward, as fear and nervousness suddenly engulfed my body. "And who told you to bring a mortal in our palace?" His voice thundered through the whole hall as I heard the gasps of people watching the show. I lower my head as I bit my lips, closing my eyes tightly. It's really a mistake that I'm here. But before I know it, I heard someone speaks with so much confidence and authority in his voice, and that authority is deeper than the Prime Minister itself. “Forgive me, Prime Minister. But this girl is my date, and I commanded my servants to not let any man touch her,” After hearing it, the gasped was much louder than earlier, but when I saw my Prime Minister… He bowed on the man who's beside him, “As you wish, my Lord,” Before he looked at the man whom they called Prince Vermion and as if he got the message from the minister itself when he raised his hands through the air and turned his back from us. But I still couldn't get over. The King just announced it to everyone… that I am his date.
