Faintly, he recalled the reaction of the Paladins when the report had arrived—the jubilation, the anticipation…the fear. “I see,” Nahan said thoughtfully. Khroma opened his eyes, watching the shadows of the setting sun play across the alien’s face. He was stroking his chin, clearly comparing what Khroma had told him with what was written in the official records. “It happened here,” Khroma said quietly, gesturing with one lazy hand to the field around them. “The final battle.” Nahan nodded, still absorbed in his thoughts, before his eyes flew open with a jolt. “Wait, here?” he asked, looking to Khroma for clarification.
