“One, two, three!” They both pulled on the large slab, straining to lift it out of the way. “I can see it! Khroma, just hold it there for a moment, let me grab it!” Khroma swore viciously under his breath, but set his shoulders and held the rock up and away from Nahan’s vulnerable form as he crouched and reached in to try and grab the artifact. He pulled, and pulled, and finally managed to yank it free from where it had been embedded in the stone, only for the slab in Khroma’s arms to begin shuddering, and he swore as he nearly buckled under the weight. “Nahan,” he said, strained. “Move.” Nahan ducked back out of the way, and Khroma let the wreckage drop, but it was too late—it collapsed, falling out of the resting position it had been in before to grind ominously against the wall, w
