Chapter 11
I open my eyes long before the alarm is set to go off. Mattis is still asleep next to me in his bunny form, but I’m wide awake. I gather him into my arms, roll onto my back, and set him atop my belly. He lifts his head and glares at me for a moment before he gives a quiet honk and flops onto his side, stretching.
I chuckle and stroke his fur, from his soft, sensitive ears down over his back. He pushes himself into my hand, shamelessly begging for more cuddles. “You’re a little snuggle-monster like this, aren’t you?”
He honks again and shuffles upward until he lies with his head under my chin, his long ears tickling my neck. I love his warmth on top of me. It’s peaceful. Right.
