Chapter 10 Mattis raises his head once his mother is gone. Our eyes meet, his blue gaze so warm and fond, I can feel it in the pit of my stomach. I wind my arms around his waist, and he leans his forehead against mine. My mind is still blissfully quiet, and I just bask in his presence and his touch. I let his scent—like the air after a heavy rain—surround me. “I want to kiss you, Hannes. May I kiss you?” My gaze zeroes in on his mouth, his lips wet and shiny and inviting. “Yes.” I close my eyes.
