What was he going to do?-
She couldn't think for too long before he was right in front of her, making her raise her head to look at him as he looked down at her.
He stared at her eyes, looking deep into them. His own eyes glistened.
"Wha- what are you doing here?"
She blinked before his words registered in her head, "Kaila. She said you wanted to see me." The words came out of her mouth ever so lightly. He fought the urge not to drop his eyes down to her lips.
Right. He did tell Kaila to bring her here but not unexpectedly and in a very very tempting outfit at that!
He had just stepped out of the bathroom while using a towel to dry his hair when he felt a chill hit him. Did he open the window? He couldn't remember going near it when he came into the room earlier.
Then he stopped. He felt a presence in the room looking at him and it was coming from that same window.
He slowly rose his head to find Raina standing right there looking at him with slightly widened eyes and parted lips.
Those luscious lips.
His eyes went further down and he was also as shocked as she was. His eyes widened and his lips parted as well.
She looked... tempting. Too tempting!
She was in a white short bell-like dress that had a deep neckline. The dress showed her waist curve as it snatched her waist.
She wore a long transparent light robe to cover it up but it wasn't really helping.
She had forgotten to hold it together as she kept looking at him in shock for some reason, so her front view of the dress was very visible to him.
His wolf growled like a beast. This wasn't the plan. This was never his plan.
What? Did she come here so they would mate?
Wait. It was the full moon today! Was that why?
He needed answers and he needed to take his eyes off her body else he wasn't going to hold back for long.
He rushed up to her. She seemed taken aback by his sudden movement as her shoulders tensed up. She looked like she wanted to run off or disappear.
He got up to her and stared into her beautiful hazel eyes. They looked like gemstones.
He asked what she was doing here and ofcourse it had to be Kaila.
Kaila had been his best helper. She was in charge of his quarters. She had been in charge for a very long time now and they had grown fond of each other.
He remembered her reaction when he told he had a mate now. Her face brightened up ten times more than it usually did when she smiled.
She misunderstood him when he said to bring Raina to him. She thought he wanted them to mate.
Lucas had the urge to slap his head hard.
"I did say that..." He closed his eyes as he tried hard to calm down and gather his thoughts right.
Raina watched his face in silence. She was also trying to calm her wolf down. She wanted to drop her eyes down his body now that he wasn't looking but that was a very bad idea!
"I wanted to have a word with you." He continued, opening his eyes.
"Just a word? Nothing more?" She asked innocently, unaware of how that sounded to Lucas, making his eyes eventually drop down.
It went from her lips down her neck then to her collarbones, reaching her cleavage.
He wished it was his lips and not his eyes that were on her at the moment. His hands formed into fists as he tried not to grab her.
What the hell did she mean by that??
She followed his sight and looked down at herself seeing the shock of her life.
She left the transparent thing open! She forgot she was wearing something very revealing and from what she was looking at by herself, he must have seen a lot.
She quickly covered it up, holding her arms together on it before slowly looking up to see his reaction.
He was looking amused all of a sudden. He took a step forward as she took one backwards. Another and she was backed up at the open window.
He held her by the waist protectively as soon as her waist was about to hit the window sill and pushed her gently away from it and closer to him as he slightly bent and held the sill with both hands, trapping her in.
"Nothing more?" He still had the amused look on.
Nothing more? What was he talking about? She was already too shocked by his actions now that whatever he was saying wasn't processing in her brain. Her brain wasn't even functioning at the moment.
"You asked me if I wanted nothing more asides from us just talking." He elaborated as she looked like she didn't understand the question.
She hesitantly nodded, looking like a lost puppy. f**k!
He took in a sharp breath through his parted lips as he moved an inch closer, "You wanted something more?"
She blinked at him and held her lower lip as she was still confused and trying to gather thoughts. His words weren't really registering in her head with his face inches away from hers.
She was itching to look at his lips and when she did, with her lower lip still between her teeth, he lost it.
Fucking hell!
He muttered a curse as he let go of the sill and turned around, walking away with his hands on his face going into his hair and back.
The atmosphere became chilly and somehow choking.
Did she do something wrong?
He rushed to the door and walked out. More like rushed out.
She must have done something wrong. What did she do?
Now she was all alone in the room, the walls staring back at her.
She slowly slid her back against the wall, going down till she reached the floor. It was cold. Maybe because of the wind from the open window that she had no strength to close or it was just her.
Everything about her was just cold and sad from her beginning. Very sad of her to think being the Alpha's mate would break that ice. Very stupid in fact.
She bent her knee, hugging it as she sat on the floor, resting her head on them.
Her eyes were teary. She felt like crying but she didn't. Instead she cradled herself to sleep.
~~~
Her eyes fluttered open to the rays of sunlight hitting them. She shut them back with a wince, turning over to face the other side-
Wait. Something was off.
She was lying down and she felt very comfortable.
The last thing she remembered was sitting on the cold floor, hugging herself before she fell asleep but now she was lying down.
Even though she had laid down on the floor, it wasn't supposed to be soft. Floors aren't soft. Or was the Alpha's own a different one?
That's very stupid.
She sat up immediately, looking around. She was on the king sized bed. His bed.
How did she get here?
Lucas!
Did he come back?
She was covered with the white sheets. She looked at herself. She was still fully clothed.
Oh, gracious.
She quickly stood up, ready to leave the room but stopped and looked at the window. It was closed. He came back.
She let out a small smile at the thought.
She decided to arrange the sheets before finally leaving.
"Why are we here? I like your place better." Leo's loud voice rang round the room.
They were all at Klaus' quarters. His study to be precise.
Klaus' house was just like his personality.
Quiet. Serene. Unbothered. Until a certain person set foot into it and made it quite the opposite.
He had his eyes on Leo, his face free of any emotion but his eyes speaking volumes.
Like can he just shut the f**k up?
Lucas sat on one of the sofas by the corner, "Stop sneaking into my house."
Klaus didn't mind Lucas in the room. He was staying calm and unbothered after all. There was just a noisy pest he wanted gone instantly.
"You know that's not possible. Your study have some feeling to it. Dark, but I can still feel something at least." He said with a dramatic demonstration.
Both men looked at him like a clown trying to say something serious. He was just ridiculous.
"Have you..." Lucas and Leo turned to the voice that spoke. Klaus.
Leo's eyes widened, waiting to hear what he had to say, "Have you ever thought about the reason being... maybe, Raina?" Klaus was hopeless in him understanding what he had said but said it anyways.
"Who's Raina?" Exactly.
Lucas sighed.
Leo looked lost for a second but brightened up when it clicked, "His mate?" He didn't get an answer from Klaus so he turned to Lucas, "Your mate? Her name's Raina?"
Lucas stared at him for a moment before he stood up and walked out of the quarters.
Leo looked back at Klaus who fought so hard not to slap his forehead in frustration.
Almost the whole pack had known her name just from the night before. From one mouth to an ear and it went on and on like that.
Yes, Leo wasn't in the meeting with them but what kind of being doesn't take a hint like that? Even fools do better than that!
Lucas went to nowhere in particular after leaving Klaus' place. He didn't want to go home yet. No, not just yet.
At this point, he has no idea what he was capable of doing and not doing.
Last night, after she made that face, he lost it totally. Completely.
His ability to hold back his wolf in whatever situation vanished into thin air.
If he hadn't turned and left the room, he wasn't sure what he was going to do. He didn't want her first impression of him as her mate to be a 'f**k boy.'
No, that wasn't what he wanted.
He wanted to know her. Talk to her. Understand what she went through. Know what really happened to her parents before and how they died.
He had a lot in mind. Not s*x just yet.
He had left the house and immediately changed into his wolf as he ran deep into the forest. He tried not to looked back because if maybe he had, he'd have gone back.
He howled at the now full moon. He howled so loud he was a bit scared he'd attract danger to the pack so he tried to calm down. And he did.
He went back after so much deliberation within himself.
It was still the early hours of the morning so it was still dark. He got inside his room, expecting it to be empty but stopped with shock seeing something in white curled up on the floor by the window. She was still there. And she was sleeping on the floor.
His face turned into a scowl at the temperature of the room. She left the window open and slept on the cold floor in nothing but the light material she was putting on.
Now he was angry. Angry at her and himself.
Why didn't she leave? Why did she wait and fall asleep on the floor?
He was even more angry with himself.
Why did he leave? Why did he have to lose control? How did she take his action like? Did she think he'd abandoned her?
He had so many questions to ask but not right now. Not this very moment.
He lifted her carefully and placed her on the bed, covering her up with the sheets before closing the window.
She curled deeper into the warmth of the sheets which was quite adorable to watch. It soothed his anger a bit to know she was now okay. Then he freshened up and left.
"Lucas!" A familiar voice interrupted his thoughts.
He frowned hard when his brain recognised it.
Not today. Not just today.
