CHAPTER 3

2016 Words
She stood there quietly as he watched her, waiting for her to say something. He knew she wasn't going to come as he had told her to. He didn't even bother thinking about whether she was going to come or not, he just came here. For some reason, he was a hundred percent sure that she was going to be here and she was. But she was quiet now He waited though. "We... we met here last night right?" She finally spoke. His face fell into confusion for a moment before he gave a short nod. Had she forgotten so fast? They were both silent for a while until she snapped out of her thoughts. "What are you doing here?" She asked him. His eyes sparkled for a split second that if she wasn't looking at him, she would have missed it. "I should be asking you that question. You're supposed to come to me but instead I'm the one... coming to you." He took a simple step that cut the gap between them halfway. Her eyes widened at his statement and then she dropped her eyes as she slightly bent, "I'm sorry for all the trouble I caused you. I disobeyed you. I am deserving of any punishment your heart so desires." His face fell immediately. His brows visibly showing he was getting angry. "Why are you speaking in that manner?" She paused, "In what manner?" He lifted her chin with a finger, raising her face to look up at him, "A very formal manner." This was the first time they came in skin to skin contact with each other and they both felt something from the touch. Lucas's wolf growled just by the touch of her skin. Something that never happens except when he comes in contact with an enemy or someone he needs to kill. She didn't feel like an enemy and he had no intentions of killing her, so why did his wolf growl? Could she be his- No. No conclusions yet but his insides bubbled just by the thought of it. Raina on the other hand also heard a low growl inside of her. She had always been told that she was a werewolf but she had never changed into her wolf. Now, her wolf growled. She was excited and at the same time she wondered why it did. Was it because the Alpha touched her? Lucas leaned back up. He was tempted to ask if she felt or heard anything but he went back to their conversation. "Why did you not want to come?" She shook her head a bit to snap out of her thoughts, "I... I would have no answer to any of your question." "What question did you think i'd ask?" "Why you had never seen me? Why nobody had ever seen me? And why I never partook in the ritual." He stayed quiet and just stared at her. Now, he was curious. He wanted to know the answers to these questions but she claimed to not know them herself. He studied her face. Seeing her in the day time, her features were even more beautiful. Her hazel eyes were dazzling under her eyelashes as she blinked slowly. She let her hair down today. It looked soft and silky that he was tempted to run his fingers through them. Her cheeks looked so soft, he wanted to feel them himself. Then his eyes went to her lips. They looked luscious and enticing. He was so drawn by how wet it looked he wanted to make them wetter with his. How did he get here? He shut his eyes to clear his perverted thoughts but his wolf's growl showed it was against it. His wolf wanted her. He wanted her bad. The signs of her being his mate were becoming quite a lot but he wanted to know what she was feeling too. Was she having the same thoughts? "It's fine." He finally spoke again after being quiet for a while. "We could just do it here." Her face furrowed in confusion, "Do what?" "The ritual." She wasn't given another opportunity to speak again as he brought out a dagger from his side and sliced his left palm to give a cut, making her gasp as his blood dropped to the ground. He wanted to be sure of two things and this was the only way to find out. If she truly was part of his pack and if she was his... mate. "Have a taste." He opened the palm with blood still dripping out. Her eyes were so wide as she just witnessed him cut himself just for her to perform the ritual. He nodded for her to go ahead. Wordlessly, she brought out her index finger and touch his bloody palm then slowly put it on her tongue. Immediately the contact was made, her wolf growled like she was hungry for more. Her hazel eyes shone like bright stones for a second and she could feel her canines elongate. She could feel her wolf crave for him. She wanted him. Was he... her mate? • Lucas was far gone. He was trying his best to keep his wolf under control. The moment the tip of her finger coated with his blood touched her tongue, the sensation he felt in his chest was enough proof that she was his mate. His wolf could barely stay as it growled low and hard, wanting her more. His eyes also shone for a moment and his fangs protruded but he kept them hidden as he watched her. Her fangs came out as well. She was his mate and he was hers. His mouth opened, "So?" "So, was the ritual successful? Am I a certified member now?" She asked after she felt her canine going back to normal. "Yes." As well as my mate. She smiled, her cheeks were blush pink. Her wolf was making her pour out all her emotions at once. She was happy that the ritual went well and the man she had always admired turned out to be her mate! She wasn't so sure yet but still her joy knew no bounds. For some reason, both of them didn't want to talk about it there. "I have to head back now." She gave a tight-lipped smile so as not to go all out grinning like a Cheshire cat. He only nodded as he was holding his wolf under so much control. He waited for a while before he let loose. He transformed and howled before running into the opposite side of the forest. >>>>> He arrived at his quarters only to find his right hand man and friend, Klaus, standing outside waiting for him. Klaus had almost the same body structure and features with Lucas. His facial features were infallibly flawless. His rare green eyes being one of his standing out feature. As soon as Lucas got close to him, he noticed his serious face. Something must have happened. He immediately followed him as he went into the house. It wasn't a really big house but it was the biggest out of all the others. They walked in and went straight to his study. Klaus waited for a second before asking, "What happened?" Lucas turned to him, "I think I've found my mate." Before Klaus could react, a loud voice spoke, "You think you've found your what??" The first thing to be seen was a head of golden brown hair and brown coloured eyes peeping from the book he was holding. He was sitting cross-legged on one of the sofas. Klaus sighed. "Why are you here again, Leo?" Lucas asked nonchalantly as he rested on the table. He dropped the book on the sofa and stood up, "You ask like you don't know." Lucas raised a brow at him. He rolled his eyes, "Ah, fine. For the millionth time, I was bored and whenever I'm bored you guys know I love coming here." They both just stared at him. "Now I'm hearing you have a mate! Premium gist. That's why I love your study." He clapped, grinning like a Cheshire cat. "I think." Lucas corrected. "You think? Lucas Kane doesn't 'think'. If he's not sure, he's not saying it. You've found your mate, man." Klaus shook his head and wondered how someone could be so loud and chatty. They were all tall and Leo wasn't an exception. His golden brown hair was a beauty to behold contrasting with his dark brown eyes. He looked like a beautiful fiery painting. "Who is she?" Klaus asked, his voice like a placid lake. "I don't know." Leo choked on the water he was drinking and spat it out, "You don't what??" "What do you mean you don't know?" Klaus continued after Leo's outburst. Lucas looked at them, "I don't know." Klaus paused as Leo was left dumbfounded. "What's her name?" Klaus kept the questions coming. He wanted to know what he meant by 'I don't know.' He looked at Klaus and then stared into space, indicating he had no idea. Leo's eyes were so wide they could fall off their sockets. "Where does she live?" Klaus continued, his face still all serious. "Who's daughter is she?" Leo followed, eager to hear his response. Lucas stared at the both of them and said nothing. He'd already said his answer from the beginning. He doesn't know. Both men were speechless now. He really didn't know. "Dude." Came like a whisper from Leo's mouth, shocking Klaus for the first since they walked into the study. "So what now?" Lucas spoke, getting their attention back to him. "So what about now?" Leo asked back only to receive a death glare that shut him up. "You make your findings about her." Klaus suggested, "Or you ask her." Leo nodded in agreement. Lucas sighed and stood up but Klaus' watchful eyes caught him and knew something was up. Lucas never sighs. He is a leader and he believes that's a sign of weakness and despondency. He watched him walk to the window, "Or is there a problem?" He asked curiously. "There might be." His voice was suddenly cold making them both stay quiet and wonder what just happened. Lucas walked back to the table, "What is the total number of the pack members?" "Why the sudden need to know the total number, Lucas?" Leo asked seriously. "Five hundred, maybe." Klaus answered. "Maybe?" He looked at Klaus, "I need the exact number. When last was a census done?" "Years back..." "I want one done now." Both men looked at each other, one surprised, one in deep thought. "NOW!" He thundered the command again. They both knew how serious he could be when he gives a single command so they both nodded and left to do what was asked of them. He let out a deep sigh when they left. Truly, he needed to find out who his mate was. ~•~•~ Raina came in through the front door. Her aunt and uncle waiting for her. She knew they would've found out that she wasn't in the room. She forgot to lock the door. Her aunt stood up first, "Raina! Where have you been? Do you know what the time is?" She scolded. "No." Raina replied leaving the couple surprised at her calm tone. "What happened to you, Rai?" Carl spoke this time. "Nothing, I'm fine." She smiled brightly at them for the first time, shocking them even more. "You... you smiled." They were speechless. She smiled even more, "Oh, I'm just happy." Marlyn and her husband were happy seeing her smile for the first time in forever. They let the fact that she snuck out slide and just watched her smile away. "But what made you so happy?" Marlyn asked. Her eyes brightened as she moved closer to tell them, "I felt my wolf today." Both their faces fell immediately as silence filled the room not until she spoke again, this time her cheeks turned blush pink. "I... I think I've found my mate."
