TOXIC ATTRACTION EPISODE FORTY

Richard and Santos managed to get the recruits who survived out as they also tried to keep the news about the blast quiet now that no one knew the warehouse really existed except for the few people who were involved. The recruits left for their respective houses as they reported for duty like any other person after they swore to keep the secret of whatever work they were doing for Richard and company. Now it was just him and Santos getting rid of the dead bodies.

Santos: this is quite unfortunate. Five boys are dead and that is alarming.

Richard: we keep it quiet. If Carlos sold us out then this could be an attack from rafael. He knows what we want to do and this is his way of warning us.

Santo: i can pin down Carlo's location then we deal with him for double crossing us but even if we take on Rafael, what team do we have. We only have seven guys.

Santos said helping him put the last dead body on one of their double cabin and Santos closed it and Richard tossed him the keys.

Richard: we worry about that tomorrow. Find me Carlo's location then get rid of those bodies. We first have to know where everyone's head is at before we commit them into anything we intend to do. Drug business is more dangerous than firearms.. it will mean they get more exposed to the outside world and they have to be prepared for what to expect out there. You and i will take on Rafael, we go to his territory guns blazing and we show him who he just messed with. Meanwhile find someone who can get this place back to its original state.

Santos: on it..

Santos got in the double cabin and Richard got in his car and drove off. He was going to find Carlo's before meeting up with Mark.

As Richard was in his car driving, he got a call from Carlos. He did not expect that he would call after what had happened but he wanted to hear from him. He wanted to hear him say he had made up his mind and he could not betray Rafael.

Richard: give me one reason why i should not hunt you down and put a bullet through your heart.

Carlos: wow!.. not the way to greet someone you begged to be part of your team.

Richard: you sold me out to Rafael?..

Carlos: what the hell are you talking about?.

Richard: cut the crap. You made it clear that you were loyal to Rafael. He stormed into my warehouse, killed my men and blew the place up with a bomb vest on a suicide killer.

Carlos: I'm swearing to you right now that i had nothing to do with that. I know just how fatal these street rivalry are and i would not sell you out to Rafael. It it's him then I don't know how he found out. I think we should meet up and figure this out..

As they were still talking, Richard heard some screeching sounds then a bang before gunshots were heard in the air.

Richard: s**t!.. Carlos... Carlos are you there?..

There was no response on his phone but he heard people fighting in the background and there were still gunshots being fired..

He ended the call and called Santos immediately. The phone beeped a few times then it was finally received.

Santos: boss.

Richard: we have a problem. I think Carlos did not set us up and someone has attacked him too.

Santos: he called?.

Richard: yes. I think whoever attacked us is the same person who has attacked him and someone from the inside must have passed the information to Rafael or whoever the hell did that to us.

Santos: you mean like a mole in the team?..

Richard: yes.. we need to find out who it is. I need to find Carlos so while on disposal duty find me his location. Once you are done we meet at my place. In Muthaiga.

Santos: right.. I'm checking his location right away..

Frank had been onto the case Susan had presented to him and as he looked into the names Susan gave him, he found out some interesting information he could not help but share with Susan. He called her while she was in a meeting in her office but she could not pick and so he left her a message asking to have dinner with her at Susan's place as they compared notes on his findings. He sat Infront of computer in his office and stared at the photos of all the men involve in everything he had discovered. Robert was lying when he said He worked for Jesse and Elias. He was part of their team. They were three partners who invested in different businesses and bought properties off the blood money they made. Robert told half the truth when he confessed to Robina and Cleopatra about wat he did painting Jesse as the bad man. The cases frank was looking at had bern closed but with new findings, there was a possibility of re opening them and that was going to depend on how far susan was planning to go and her reason for pursuing it. Frank had a notebook where he had noted everything down and if whatever he found was true, feathers were going to raffle and people were going to go down for illegal transaction of businesses because him we opening those cases would mean leaving no stone unturned.

When Robert worked with the two other guys, he also had his right hand man who helped him brainstorm and make decisions because he was book smart but both Elias and Jesse were street smart.. he needed someone to help him understand some of the ways the boys operated snd together they also had an illegal business going on. Something only him and his friend Scorpion knew about. Robert met up with Scorpio that afternoon in one of their offices and they had some few things they needed to discuss for instance taking away the cement company from Mark. Robert was among the many people who had tried to wage war and cause a shut down of Mark's cement company but it failed because Mark's father Elias had equiped him thoroughly for the job. He knew how to handle crisis and people like Ham and a few others whom his father personally trained were there to help him handle the business. Robert failed but he was not going to stop until he got what he wanted.

Scorpion: if Elias knew what you have been planning he would turn on his grave.

Robert: Elias and Jesse thought they were smart. We had joint accounts with the signatories being the three of us. I came to learn that the account was swept clean off 300 million and only two signatories were involved. I don't know how that played out but now that they are not in the picture, I'm going to get back everything i lost. I'm going to take control of that cement company and I'm going to sleep with Nerea, treat her like a queen and once i find my way into her mind, she will tell me everything i want to know then i will kill her and her entire generation. That includes his good for nothing son who is married to my daughter..

Scorpion: i thought the marriage was your idea. Its even sick to think you would be sleeping with the mother of your daughters husbands.

Robert: I've done bad things in my life.. it was not my intention to marry off Robina to Richard but sometimes desperate situations calls for desperate measures. Richard's family think and believe i stole from them. They want six million from me to compensate the money i took for the company..money that was part of my sweat.. i made myself vulnerable to them by agreeing to go with the narrative that I owe them. Giving them Robina's hand in marriage was a small sacrifice for the greater good. Robina fears the thought of me being sent to prison so that is a reason for her to stay in that marriage however much she hates me. They have no idea of the comeback I'm yet to make..

Scorpion was out of words..he thought he knew Robert too well but this version of him, he had never met.

Scorpion: it seems you have gotten all your plans noted down, where does that leave us?..

Robert: I'm going to make you a billionaire. You have had my back and always showed me the cards to play. Once i take everything we have worked so hard for, you will have everything you have ever wanted in this life courtesy of me. Loyalty deserves appreciation and with me you will never go wrong.

Scorpion: i love the sound of that. I'm at tour service.

They shook hands and Robert got up and looked around then back at him.

Robert: get prepared. It will not be like taking candy from a baby. I've been doing rounds. We will need guns and alot of it.

Scorpion: i know someone who can connect us to a dealer.

Robert: good. Wait for my go ahead.

He left the office and the excitement on Scorpions face was quite evident.

Later that day i decided to pop up at Davis' work place, i wanted to pay him an impromptu visit and explain why i was not able to see him the previous evening like we had agreed to. After talking to Susan that morning when she called to check on me, i realized that cancelling on Davis even though I was unapologetic about it hurt his feelings and maybe i needed to clear the air. Not later in his house or some roof top of a big hotel but in his office when he least expected. Maybe i was also curious to find out if he still had ladies straightening their skirts when they left his office..i experienced that a number of times when we were still dating.

I got to the reception and since a few people there knew who i was, i was given a direct pass to Davis' office and he had just checked in from lunch. I opened the door to his office and when he saw me, he was so excited that he came up to me and gave me a very warm and long lasting hug.

Davis: this is a pleasant surprise..

Me: i know. I'm sorry i didn't call first..

Davis: you don't need sn appointment when you are coming to see me Robina..you don't have to call either.

He ushered me into a seat and he sat on his chair. He had this sweet smile on his face and a some reason I couldn't tell why he was this warm and sweet. The Davis i knew two years back was completely different from this one...

Me: you look happy..

Davis: I am.. early this morning i got fifteen million shilling for installation job of solar panels we did two months ago. I have two more proposals that are waiting approval and I'm happy to say everything is going well except for the part where you have refused to give me a second chance.

Me: about that.. I'm really trying to see past the person you showed me you were but its not working just yet. I think its baby steps that we are still talking and lets see how that goes for now.. I love your company, I just don't know what to expect when you are not this person Infront of me.

Davis: I'm trying.. i want to be a better man for you Robina, I love you. It took me loosing you for that to sink in and I'm willing to do anything to get you back. Anything you want love, you just mention it.

Me: I'm glad you are willing to go through all that but do you know that I'm pregnant and expecting Richard's baby?..

He took a deep breath and leaned towards me and took my hand in his.

Davis: i know that.. i know you are expecting a child and one thing i was told us that if you love a woman, you love her with everything that comes with her.. her flows, her dramas, her babies. My love for you is not conditional.

I smiled and watched him kiss my hand. I thought i needed a good slap because i would have sworn that i was in some sort of a dream. This was not Davis..this was an imposter because the Davis i knew was too arrogant for such sweet words..

Carlos called Richard again before Santos could figure out his location. He had just finished working rounds on his attackers when he got in his car and sped off. Richard received the call and put it on speaker because he was still driving..

Richard: I thought you were dead in that crossfire..

Carlos: not yet. Give me your location I'm coming to you. I think we have a bigger problem, Rafael knows yoh and i had a meeting and we are planning something..i don't know how but his men just tried to kill me.

Richard: I'm pinning you the location right now..

Nerea had stepped out that day. She had asked someone who previously worked for Jesse and his team to follow scorpion around since she knew Robert had a friend called scorpion back in the days she and Robert used to cheat. She thought the sudden love interest from Robert given everything that was going on had something else to it and to figure out if Robert was being genuine about his feeling he needed to hear his plans from the one person he told all his secrets.. she waited for Scorpio on a route she was told he passed on often. She sat in her car waiting for Scorpions car to approach and when it did, she got out of hers and stood by the road knowing so well he could not run her over.

Scorpion stepped on the brakes then angrily got out of the car but held his tongue when he saw Nerea..

Scorpion: are you sick in the head, you want to die?..

Nerea: no.. not today. I have a proposal for you.

Scorpion: I'm not interested..

Nerea: you should be. You have not even heard what it is.

She walked up to him..

Scorpion: you have five minutes.

Nerea: fine.

She pulled out a brown envelope from her handbag and handed it to scorpion..

Scorpion: what is this?..

Nerea: Money... I want you to tell me everything that Robert has been upto, what he is planning, the people he has been meeting, I want to know if I'm safe around him. You can do that right?..

Scorpion: you do know that Robert is my friend right?.

Nerea: yes, and there is an amount of money that can buy friendship, you just have to name your price and i will make it happen. He won't know about this meeting if none of us tell him and there's more money where that came from.. I just want to know if i can trust him... Can I trust you to give me information based on his movement and everything he is planning?.

Scorpion looked at the money then back at her..

Nerea: that's 200k. For a start. Can i trust you?..

Scorpion: yes..you can trust me.. as long as he doesn't know anything..

Nerea nodded then walked back to her car. Scorpion got back into his car and drove off..
