My heart pounded in my chest as anger and annoyance boiled within me, “Where are you taking me, Asher!" I yelled at him, unable to contain my disgust at how low he would stoop just to get to me. "I will call the cops on you!" I threatened, hoping to assert some control in this terrifying situation.
Amusement danced in his tone as he focused on the road, and he laughed at my remark, "Doesn’t sound so silly to you, does it, Bella? You are going to call the cops on me?" Listening to his response, I couldn't help but feel a bit foolish. Deep down, I knew that involving the police would only put their lives in danger, as Asher was capable of anything to protect himself.
