One bullet, two victims

LUKAS’ POV

I woke up a little earlier than I usually did the following morning because I just couldn’t wait to see Elena. I wanted to take her back home and it was as if I was also afraid that if I took my time seeing her she would run away again and this was a fear that I wasn’t ready to share with anyone else. It wasn’t like there was anyone that I could share what I was going through with Elena in this palace. I didn’t like it when my subjects thought that I was a weak alpha who was ruled by emotions and I didn’t want it to seem like I didn’t know what I was doing when it came to Elena. Loving a woman the way I loved Elena was a very dangerous thing because she had a power over me that she still hadn't come to terms with yet. If Elena asked for someone's head from me I would gladly give it to her and, because of the way she was behaving, I was certain that if she recognized this power my life and my pack would definitely be in danger.

“Where are you off to so early in the morning?” Mike asked me as he walked into the gym. Mike was my long-time friend and right-hand man and he was the closest thing I had to a brother/confidant. I loved him and whenever things got a little hard for me, he was the one person that I always knew that I could count on.

”I am going to get my mate,” I said, and he rolled his eyes. Mike could be honest with me when he wanted, but he knew that there were certain boundaries that I could never allow him to cross. He knew that I could never tolerate disrespect.

“So she finally escaped?” he asked me.

“No, I allowed her to visit her parents. And what do you mean she finally escaped? It's not like she was being kept here as a prisoner” I said, annoyed.

“Well, I am sorry for thinking that she was a prisoner. You know the guard that you sent to escort her is the one spreading the rumor. He is the one who told everyone else that she escaped and you didn’t even punish him. You need to set an example with him, you need to squash that rumor and show them that the woman hasn’t made you weak”, he said.

“I know what I am supposed to do and I will deal with him when I come back,” I said as I started making my way out of the gym.

“I know that look, it means that something sinister is cooking in that head of yours and I wonder what it is that you are planning to do,” he said as he ran and caught up with me

“He made a mistake and he will be punished for it,” I said.

”What about her?” he asked me.

“She is my mate,” I said.

“I know that you, don’t you think you have to deal with that little attitude of hers?” he asked me. “I mean you don’t want her to think she can do as she leases here”. he added

“Elena knows her place and when I bring her back here I will make sure I remind her of all the consequences she will face the next time she disobeys me,” I said as I ran off and left him standing on his own.

Mike didn’t have to worry about how I dealt with Elena, she was my problem and the rules that she had broken were mine. I had a lot in store for her when I brought her back here and I wanted her to learn a lesson from the mistake that she had just done. She had to know that there was no room for mistakes in this relationship, especially mistakes like this one. I got into my room and took a hot shower in an attempt to calm myself down. I had woken up as angry as I had been the previous night and that was because I had barely slept at night. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Elena had done to me and the fact that she had the audacity to ignore me when I tried speaking to her on the phone. I just couldn’t take this lying down. She had to pay for her mistakes.

After I was done bathing, I headed to the closet and put on my sweats and my sneakers. There was no need for me to dress formally and I wasn’t even in the mood to put in any effort. I was very upset with Elena’s family and I was even considering making them pay me my money, while I also took Elena with me. After what they put me through, they had to do their best to appease me, but I wasn’t even willing to go into their house. I was going to wait for Elena in my car.

After I was done getting dressed, I grabbed my car keys and headed to my car. I was literally flying as I drove to their pack because I just couldn’t wait to see my mate. I couldn’t wait to take her back home. When I got to her pack I didn’t even have to hoot to let them know that I had arrived. Her father came running to the car and I opened the window so that I could hear what he had to say to me.

”Alpha Lukas, thank you for coming to fetch Elena. Won't you come in?” he asked me.

“No thank you, I will have my mate and be on my way,” I said, and then closed the window after that. If I continued talking to this man I was only going to end up killing him because I could see that he wanted to explain himself and I wasn’t in the mood for any of his explanations. After a few minutes of waiting for Elena to come out, she finally came out with her mother holding her hand and I wondered why that was. Did she not want to come and meet me here?

Her mother opened the car door and Elena got into the car and closed the door. I was immediately drunk on her scent as if filled the whole car and I wanted to rip off her clothes off right now. I wanted her but I was going to wait until we got home. I took off my sunglasses and looked her in the eyes. At first, she held the gaze in an attempt to show me that she wasn’t intimidated by me, but she soon looked down. Instead of driving straight home, I decided that I was going to take her shopping.

”Are we not going home?” she asked me and I shook my head, she didn’t seem to be satisfied with the answer that I gave her, but she knew that she didn’t have a choice but to take it. I sped to the nearest mall and when we got there, I pulled into the parking lot and got out of the car. I went to her side of the car and opened the door for her and held out my hand. She just stared at me as if she didn’t know what she was supposed to do.

“I don’t have all day”, I snapped and she got out of the car and quickly grabbed my hand with fear evident in her eyes.

“I am going to buy you something,” I said. “I am actually going to buy something for myself but you will wear it for me tonight.

“I don’t want anything” she protested and I laughed.

“But I do my love,” I said, as I practically had to drag her through the mall. We finally reached the lingerie shop and I started looking at the lingerie that was displayed there. Elena looked disgusted and I couldn’t help but laugh.

”Don’t act so disgusted, you will soon be wearing one of those” I said with a wink and she looked like she was about to puke. I finally saw the lingerie that I wanted and I looked at her to guess her size and then I gave it to the shop attendant. I didn’t even try to get Elena to try it on or even give me her input, because I knew that she would be negative if I even asked her.

After the lingerie was packed, we headed back into the car and drove home. If she thought this was the last surprise that I had for her tonight, then she had another thing coming. I still had to deal with the guard that had allowed himself to be overpowered by her and that was going to make her realize that I was not to be messed with when we finally pulled into the garage. She got out and ran out of the car. I didn’t even waste my time running after her, because the only place she could run to at this point was our room and the worst thing she could do once in there was to lock me outside. However, I had already instructed Mike to wait for us in the living room with the guard that had escorted Elena and I knew he wasn’t going to let her pass.

“Now that we are all here”, I started as I walked into the living room and Elena was sitting on the vouch while the guard was on his knees next to her

”Which one of you two will explain to me what happened yesterday?” I asked them and then I looked over at Mike and nodded. He left the room and it was now just me, Elena, and the guard.

”Lukas…it was….” I cut her off before she could even finish her sentence and pulled out my gun. Elena looked like she wished the couch could swallow her up and hide her from me as soon as she laid her eyes on my gun.

“I suggest you tell me the truth and I also suggest you choose your words carefully,” I said as I slowly loaded my gun with one bullet.

“ Someone is going to die today but, it's all going to depend on what answers I am going to get from the both of you,” I said, pointing at both of them with my gun, and Elena was literally shaking at that point. I really didn’t want to scare her this much, but I knew that this was necessary.
