Chapter 8

"Go away Garrett you're not helping," Steph said still rooted in the same spot Darwin left her after dropping the bombshell of her possibly dying from her first transformation. Garrett was scrapping at the door and whining in an effort to try and comfort her but Steph was too fearful and angry that his antics couldn't soothe her this time round. Her wolf voice had mysteriously gone silent leaving her to wonder whether it knew that she was a goner. Steph got up from the ground having rethought her entire situation," you know what screw it I'm not staying here any longer I'm leaving bye Garrett."

She walked away towards the underground door as Garrett howled and whined in protest but it was in vain as she left him alone in the cell.

The moonlight was brighter than usual as she looked up at it feeling a strong powerful presence radiate from it but she ignored it and walked off in to the woods. She had no plan whatsoever but knew she had to get away from everything, she missed her old life in the city. It was boring and uneventful but at least it didn't involve the possibility of dying in excruciating pain. She hated Darwin for what he said and leaving her in her own anguish. She went back to Aunt Lily's behaviour and reactions the entire journey to where they reached. How she kept such an important family secret from her for so long and still refused to say anything even after all was revealed to her in her vision. It was all to protect from such a fate but she just had to push her further and further and now her ailing aunt was going to be all alone in this world.

Steph clouded by emotions began running through the woods with no clear destination, she fought the urge to cry out as tears welled up in her eyes but she couldn't stop herself as the sobs broke out.

Her wolf voice spoke easing her pain but not eliminating it.

'Please help me,' she internally tried to tell her wolf but no response came from it.

She suddenly heard a loud growl which threw her off balance and flying into a puddle of water before her. She immediately got up to trace it had come from as she looked at her own reflection in the water and was shaken by the golden yellow eyes that had replaced her green eyes. She looked away realizing the transformation had began, knowing her mistake in trying to run away she turned back to try and get to the underground cellar but was once again knocked down by an even louder growl which she felt come from her. It was sudden and unexpected as the first one and she had no complete control over it.

Steph's memory went back to Garrett's transformation and how he fought and tussled with himself before he regained control. She finally realized that she was in a war with her animalistic wolf for control of her own body as another abrupt force knocked her down on all fours as the howling and growling became more intense and fierce.

The wolf voice in her head repeatedly said as it mentally fought to gain control of her mind and body pushing her further into the back seat. Then the pain set in, sharper and more terrifying than anything she felt before as her mind mentally split into two sides battling for dominance. She screamed in agonising pain as her skin was set on fire and her bones broke, twisted and turned in inhumane ways.

The wolf voice pressed on harder as it rattled her, she slowly felt her let go and fade into the abyss as her animalistic side took over making more growls as it clawed on the ground and barred its growing canines.

The wolf voice became less friendly and more demanding realizing it was winning the war against her own conscious transforming her entire body into it's own vessel and pushing her further into the abyss. It was no friend of hers now that it knew it was in control of the moment fueled by the moonlight mystical energy, Steph had lost the battle for her own body as she let go falling and seeing herself transform into the beast of her vision.
