Coffee date

The next day… Noah's pov Sheena was pretty upset after Kyren rejected her…God knows what his problem was with women. I went to meet an old friend at a bookstore, it was my usual hangout spot. Books were not my thing but the scent of them always made me fall asleep. My friend was handling the reception whereas I was sitting on the white floor between the two huge bookshelves. The scent of books started to make me drowsy and my head rested on the shelf. My eyes shut down and It was peaceful. Until…a noise pulled me out of my sleep. “Go somewhere else!” I muttered without opening my eyes. “This is not your private space!” A beautiful soft voice answered. My eyes opened, and I turned to the girl standing right next to me, trying to get a book from the upper shelf. She even called Ron a few times but he was busy dealing with the other people at the counter. Her feet were jumping on the floor to reach the book on the upper shelf. Every time she was jumping, my gaze could see her top flapping and exposing her stark waist. She was the same girl from that night. Hailey Winter. I got up from the floor and slowly approached her. She felt my presence behind her back and stopped jumping. My hand reached the book on the upper shelf and she was quietly standing between my arms. I grabbed the book and stepped back. She turned around and extended her hand toward me for the book. A smile glinted on my lips. “You want the book?” “Of course!” “And what do I get in return?” My brows twitched. “Money?” Her timid voice mumbled. *Chuckles “How about a coffee, Hailey Winter?” Her eyes widened with shock. “How do you know my name?” “I guessed it.” “Are you a stalker?” Her eyes were shrouded with suspicion. “Who knows? Maybe!” I winked. She sighed. “Ron will help me!” She called Ron for another ten minutes but he didn't respond. “Are you done?” My arms crossed on my chest. “You're Noah Reinhart, right?” Her soft tone murmured as she started rubbing her fingers anxiously. “You know me?” My heart fluttered. “You're the famous playboy!” *Cough *Cough “Uhm…that's old me!” For the first time in my life, I was embarrassed in front of a girl. “Just one coffee, okay?” “Deal.” We walked out of the bookstore and went to a nearby cafe. Our table was last in the row and against the glass window. We were facing each other. “Give me the book now.” She demanded. I gently pushed the book to her side on the table and her eyes perked up. “Thank you!” “You like reading that much?” She nodded her head. “What type of book do you read?” To be honest, I didn't even notice the book cover, my focus was on her. “Ah…nothing special…” Her hands immediately hid the book on her lap and she started fumbling for some reason. My chin dropped to my palm as my elbow rested on the table. “Hailey Winter” “I thought you were shy and innocent.” “Huh?” Her face turned pale. My hand dropped on the table and my face leaned forward. “You read erotic novels, don't you?” She started coughing. I passed her a glass of water. She grabbed the glass and swigged water in embarrassment. “What kind of erotic novels do you read?” “Stop it.” The waiter served our coffee, interrupting our conversation. She was relieved. It was fun teasing her. The waiter left and she shifted her entire focus on the coffee. The pink straw was kissing her plump lips and I couldn't help but admire that. “Do you have a boyfriend?” Her eyes looked into mine while the straw was still in her mouth. “Just curious!” The corner of my mouth curved. Her lips freed the straw and she licked the coffee from them. “I have a boyfriend.” My ears couldn't believe it. “You're lying!” She got up from her seat and smiled sarcastically. “I should leave now!” “What? Why?” Her lips didn't answer my question and her feet walked out of the cafe. “Whoa! Did she just abandon me?” Great. Just great. But does she really have a boyfriend? *** Meanwhile… Amber's pov I went to Rhett's office to give him handmade cookies and wish him a very happy birthday. My feet stepped into the cabin and there was already a girl inside. She was doing some paperwork with Rhett. “Oh! I'm so sorry!” She looked at me with curious eyes. “What are you doing here?” He questioned me in his deep voice. “Ahm…actually…” “I wanted to give you these cookies.” “Smells so good.” The girl replied and a smile glinted on my lips. “Thank you!” “Happy Birthday, Rhett.” My timid voice muttered softly. He didn't respond. “Oh! Happy Birthday, Mr.Green.” “Thank you, Miss.Reinhart.” He replied to her with a slight smile on his lips and his tone calm and gentle. “You must be Mr.Green’s friend, right?” She turned her head to me. “Yes, she's my friend.” Rhett interrupted. He refused to give me a proper introduction. “I am also Rhett's fiancèe!” My words didn't hold back this time. “Oh my God!” She smiled widely. “Congratulations, sir.” Rhett forced a smile in front of her. “I am Julian Reinhart, an illustrator.” She extended her hand to me with pure intentions. “I am Amber Mitchell, nice to meet you.” My hand shook with her. Her gaze landed back on Rhett’s face as she freed my hand from her grip. “The illustration will be ready by the day after tomorrow.” “That's good.” “I should give you some privacy now.” Having said that, she stepped out of his cabin and closed the door behind her. Rhett got up from his seat and slowly walked over to me. He fixed his tie between his collars. “Was it necessary?” His eyes darkened. “I am your fiancèe, so why should we hide this fact?” My mouth questioned. He snatched the cookies from my hands and flung them against the wall. “Why are you trying to ruin my plan? “What the f*ck is your plan?” His teeth gritted. “Rhett…” His fingers cupped my cheeks angrily and he pinned me against the wall. “Don't you ever step into my office again, understand?” My head nodded. He freed my cheeks. “Get out.” Tears rolled down my eyes and my feet approached the door, yet he grabbed my wrist and glared into my eyes again. “Wipe your tears first.” I did as he said. He came closer and my heart clenched with a weird feeling. “I didn't want to hurt you…but you know you made a mistake, right?” His gaze softened. Mistake? What was my mistake? My lips couldn't say it out loud. “You're going to be my wife and nothing can change that, Amber.” “Just be patient and don't get on my nerves, okay?” My voice was silent. “Say it?” “Yes, I understand.” He opened the cabin door and my feet stepped outside. My eyes didn't look anywhere else and my steps went straight to the lift. A breath slipped free of my lips. “I need to cancel this engagement.”
