Rainy date

1099 Words
Julian's pov Freya set me up on another blind date after Ethan Scott. She was hundred percent sure of the guy this time. I wasn't interested again. But… Kyren challenged me that he would never allow me to date and I wanted to prove him wrong. After office hours… Mr.Green interrupted my steps as I was leaving earlier than usual. “Are you done?” His brows twitched. “Actually, I am going on a date, so…” We became quite close after our private dinner. It was less awkward compared to the past years. “Date?” My head nodded. “Well, I hope it goes well.” “Thank you.” A smile glinted on my lips. “Allow me to drop you to your date.” He offered. “Uhm…you don't…” “Relax! I'm not going to scare your date!” His words scoffed. “Thank you, Mr.Green.” It was silent inside the car and we barely talked about anything except for work. “When is your wedding?” I asked. After a brief pause… “Soon.” His deep voice answered. “That's great.” “How do you know Kyren Maddox?” He questioned. Mr.Green noticed his death stare! “He's my brother's best friend and our new tenant.” “Why was he glaring at me then?” “That's because he is possessive that someone might hurt his little sister.” I said with a smile. “If he finds out that I'm meeting a guy, he's gonna flip out and might kill my date.” Mr.Green chuckled. “I see…you have two elder brothers to protect you.” “Something like that.” My voice agreed. After a bit, we reached the date location. My feet got out of the car and thanked Mr.Green for the ride. “Enjoy.” Having said that, he drove off. I headed inside the restaurant and the guy recognized my face. To be honest, he was cute. “I would love to meet Tris someday.” Liam muttered softly. “Of course.” The date went well. Unfortunately, Liam got an emergency call and had to leave, whereas I enjoyed another cup of coffee and stepped out of the restaurant…only to be disrupted by a sudden rain shower. “Wow! Seriously?” I didn't have an umbrella and couldn't see any cabs either. My feet stepped under a shade outside the restaurant and waited for the rain to stop. All of a sudden… A transparent umbrella shrouded my head. My eyes looked up and swiftly moved to the right side. “Brother?” Kyren tilted his head slightly. “How did you know I was here?” My eyes widened. “I installed a tracker on your cell phone.” He admitted bluntly. “What? When?” The corner of his mouth curved mischievously. “Answer me!” He grabbed my wrist and dragged me out in the heavy rain. His fingers were holding the umbrella’s handle and we started running like two kids. In the middle of the road… The umbrella’s transparent fabric flew away with the strong wind and we were only left with the handle. Our feet stopped and rain poured over us. Kyren looked into my eyes. He was shocked, and so was I. We couldn't help but laugh. He dropped the umbrella’s handle on the road and we spotted a nearby tea stall on the road’s shoulder. We ran over to the tea stall. There was a wooden bench outside the tea stall on either side and a beach umbrella blocking the sky. I perched on the bench, whereas Kyren brought tea for me and him in clay pots. The tea seller was Indian and clay pots were popular in India. He took his seat next to me. The rain was still as heavy as before. “How was your date?” He slightly leaned forward and looked into my eyes. My heart skipped a beat. That charming gaze should be illegal. “It went well.” His charming gaze turned cold. *Text popped up sound I took out my cell phone from my handbag and saw Liam's text. “Thank you for your time but we're not a good fit, sorry.” My eyes couldn't believe the unexpected words. Our date actually went well. What happened suddenly? Kyren read the text on my phone screen and chuckled. “I see your date went well.” He scoffed. My eyes glared at him. “Brother” “Stop laughing!” His smile disappeared as his face moved closer to mine. “Noah is your brother.” “I am Kyren for you.” The man who always asked me to call him brother…was changed. “Kyren” He bit his lower lip, suppressing his smile. I could feel my heart pounding faster than ever and it felt like Everything around me was moving in slow motion. No, Julian! You can't fall for him again. Get a grip. My face pulled back and I lowered my head to the muddy ground. “Thank you for the tea.” My lips took a sip from the clay pot tea. “Wow! It tastes amazing.” Kyren's gaze was fixed on my face. “What?” His thumb reached my lips and swiftly brushed through to the corner. I was on the verge of losing consciousness but somehow managed to stay tough. “Uhm…thank you!” My timid voice murmured. He smiled and my cheeks flustered. Oh God! Help my stupid heart, please! *** A few minutes earlier in an old garage… Rhett’s pov I brought Liam to the garage, beat the sh*t out of him, and held his face inches apart from the bike's exhaust pipe. “Send Julian a text and reject her.” He was terrified. “Let me go…I will do anything.” His trembling fingers, covered in blood, typed the text and sent it to her. “Now listen to me…” I pulled him closer to me by his collar. “Never come near that girl again, understand?” He nodded his head in immense fear. *Cell phone ringing An unexpected call from Mom interrupted our conversation. I answered the call. “What?” “Did something happen between you and Amber?” She inquired. “Why?” Her lips sucked in a breath. “She visited us earlier and she wants to cancel the engagement.” Rage replenished my soul. “Rhett?” “Hello?” “I will handle her, don't worry.”
