The Black Wolf

(Rose)

A wounded wolf is being rushed into the hospital. I had seen this before. Everything happening right now has happened in this same hospital. From James lifting the wounded wolf to me running to get a stretcher and informing the Pack Doctor.

I am utterly confused. What is happening?

"Rose?"

"Rose" Dr John's voice interrupted my thoughts.

"I need you to bring...

"Moondust" I quickly completed his statement.

He looked at me in surprise and nodded in agreement. I quickly dashed out to bring the antidote to the wolf's pain. From my earlier premonitions, I knew the wolf wasn't going to make it as I had earlier seen.

Dr John quickly injected the antidote to the wolf. Like I had seen, the wolf didn't make it.

"He's gone Rose," Dr John told me. I was conflicted about telling him that I knew that the wolf was going to die and that I already knew that he was poisoned with wolfsbane.

"We need to inform the Alpha Rose. This wolf was poisoned with wolfsbane. It has been banned among wolf packs. Who did this? And look, his pack sign was cut off" he said.

I knew about all this already. I stepped out to the hospital hallway to catch my breath.

Facing the wall, I immediately heard footsteps.

"Hi Emmy" I said without looking up.

"How did you know I was coming?" Emmy said from behind me.

"I just know"

"Well, I just heard from Dr John that a wolf was poisoned with wolfsbane. Really scary stuff huh?" he asked.

I sighed. I knew about this conversation beforehand. I could swear that all these had happened before now.

"Yes. I can't believe someone out there is poisoning wolves" I said.

"Yeah and weeks before the annual ball too. Are you coming to the ball? Please say yes. We need to find out mates. I hope they're both hot" he said.

Our conversation was interrupted by the presence of the alpha. We greeted him and he asked to see the Pack doctor. We both pointed towards Dr. John's office.

"I'll see you later Emmy" I said.

"Wait. You haven't told me if you're attending the ball"

"Later Emmy".

I went to my next patient's room; Mrs Adams wondering if I'll meet the same conversation I had seen in my dreams, if I can even call it that.

"I knew you'll come Accalia".

There's that name again. Well, one thing has always been the same with her. She always calls me "Accalia".

"A heavy fog of questions clouds thy mind but the door of answers openeth soon for when the blood of the moon goddess meets with the black wolf, the stone of times begins to roll"

I looked at her with confusion. Who and what is she talking about? Black wolf? Moon goddess?

"Come closer child." she said and motioned with her hands for me to come closer.

I walked towards her slowly and she smiled at me.

"The time is coming for you, my dear. The black wolf approaches soon and when he does, your destiny and the destiny of other wolves will change as written in the stone of times. The destroyer has started to manifest. With the wolf pack's signs as his opening, he will destroy us all." she said and immediately collapsed into a deep sleep.

My mind quickly drifted to the wolf this afternoon. His pack's sign had been removed.

I need to get air. I covered her with the comforters and left the hospital.

The hospital had a garden. It was beautiful with roses and a water fountain in the middle. Dr John once said the statue of the Moon Goddess on the water fountain helps to give the sick wolves a sense of peace. Peace was what I really needed now.

How am I able to see these things before they happen? Are they dreams? Visions? Premonition? What was Mrs Adams talking about? A black wolf? Black wolves are extremely rare and are seen as a sign of royalty. Who is the destroyer? Was he behind the wolf's death?

"Rose, it's time to go"

I heard Emmy calling. Guess it's time to go home. I need to go prepare dinner before my family returns. I remember the beatings I got because I prepared dinner late. I grabbed my bag from the locker room and headed out with Emmy.

He kept gushing over James' hospital security. Emmy was a mess for tall and muscular wolves. I really hope he finds his mate soon. As for me, I don't see any mate in my future as I haven't met my wolf yet; if I even have one.

"Are you listening to me? He's so hot. He smiled at me today Rose"

"He smiles at everybody Emmy. Calm down. What will your mate say about you gushing over a mated wolf?" I asked while chuckling.

"Urrgh, if my mate wants me not to gush over other wolves, then he needs to hurry the f**k up and find me" he complained.

" I am going to the annual ball with the sole purpose of finding my mate and nothing in my mind says otherwise" he added.

I was not allowed to go for social events so I was not excited for the ball because I knew I won't be attending. Not like I wanted to attend, in rather read the new book I borrowed from the Pack Library, it tells the story of how the Moon Goddess found her Mate. I really liked reading love stories. That I don't have a Mate doesn't mean I can't read about others finding theirs.

"Later Rose". Emmy's voice broke me out of my thoughts. I didn't notice we had arrived in front of Emmy's house. He lived with his Grandmother as his parents died a year after each other. His mother died while trying to give birth to him and his father died the year after, unable to bear the loss of his mate.

"Later Emmy" I replied.

I hastened my footsteps and got home. I quickly went up to my room to have a shower and prepare dinner.

I was chopping some carrots for dinner and a familiar voice called out to me.

"Rose"

I turned around and saw no one.

What is going on today?

I continued chopping and noticed a flash of white light before me. The light quickly formed the shape of a wolf, white in color and then it turned black. The image vanished as soon as it came. I couldn't focus after what I had just witnessed I didn't notice Amelia walking towards me.

A loud slap landed on my face.

"Why are you not preparing dinner fool?" Amelia asked.

The bowl I was holding slipped from my hands I was startled by her presence. Witnessing what had happened, she quickly threw herself on the wet floor.

"Mom!! Look what Rose did" she called.

I panicked as I knew what was about to happen.
