Chapter 7

Damien’s POV- The moment Birsha and I left Scarlett’s home, we teleported straight to the royal palace and requested a private audience with King Abaddon. We were shocked to see his face in that photo, holding Scarlett when she was only six years old. Scarlett said he was her father. It shocked me. It shocked us both, because if that is true. If she was his daughter, that would make her the demon princess, heir to the throne. She will be Queen one day. That means Birsha and I are fated to be part of the royal family. I knew the King had a daughter, but I never knew it was Scarlett. No one knows her name in the demon world. The king said it was to keep her safe. Birsha was smart enough to snap a photo of the picture in the frame, with his phone, while Scarlett was getting the food we had ordered to her house. She ordered from a Chinese restaurant, and honestly there was so much food. Food I had never tried before, but loved surprisingly. We weren’t surprised at all when King Abaddon agreed to meet with us privately. We are his best Generals, something he has said countless times. I have served as his General for over three thousand years. We were invited into King Abaddon’s private office. Bookcases lined the walls, a fireplace on one of those walls, and a seating area around it. He was sitting at his desk when he saw us enter his office. We bowed to him, as he waved the guards off. They knew to leave and shut the doors behind them. “So, I was surprised that my two greatest Generals wanted to have a private audience with me. You have never requested one in the thousands of years that you have both served me loyally. It leaves me with the question of, why now,” King Abaddon’s booming voice, echoed in his office. I cleared my throat, “I am sorry, but we have a rather personal matter to discuss with you.” “Yes, your female mate is turning eighteen soon, isn’t she? I thought I had given you a few weeks to get acquainted with her. Has something gone wrong,” King Abaddon responded. “It was more to do with what we discovered today, your majesty. We had seen her with her mother and her step-family, but never her biological father. She told us today that she has not seen him since she was six years old. She also told us that he is the reason she has demon blood in her. Today, we were at her house that her father had given to her. She showed us a picture of her when she was six with her biological father. Your Majesty, is this you,” Birsha said, showing the picture we took on his phone. King Abaddon took the phone from Birsha, and stared at the picture. His bottom lips began quivering, as he whispered, “My little princess. My baby girl. She never forgot me. I thought she hated me for leaving, and that is why she never contacted me. I gave her something to contact me with, but she never used it.” “She used to get abused by her step-family. They are werewolves. They used to break her stuff and beat her. She would never let us get involved, she always wanted to be brave and face them, herself. I always admired her for that. She moved into the house you left her when she was sixteen,” I explained. “They... what,” he growled. “It broke us not to get involved, but she would never let us help,” Birsha said, looking at the floor, saddened by the memories. We both hated it. I remember finding Birsha crying about it. We both want to protect Scarlett, to protect our mate. King Abaddon looked at us, raising Birsha’s head. Birsha had tears in his eyes, and I wrapped my arm around him, pulling him closer to me. King Abaddon said, “My little girl is your female mate. You both love her.” “She is our mate, and we are in love with her,” Birsha replied, a stray tear falling from his eye. I wiped it away, trying hard not to cry myself. King Abaddon smiled, “You have both watched over her since she was ten years old. You said a couple of times, you intervened and saved her from being killed.” We both nodded. Much to our surprise, he pulled us in and hugged us both, as he said, “I could not have asked for better mates for her than you two. She is not eighteen yet. She turns eighteen in three days.” Birsha and I nodded, as I said, “She is having a party on her birthday.” “I will come to the party at the end, as a surprise. But I need to talk to you both about something. Let’s take a seat,” King Abaddon said. We followed him to the sofas that were around the fireplace. We took seats on them. As he sighed, “You both need to protect her. The moment she turns eighteen, the werewolves will try to stop me from awakening her demon. Whatever power you have seen her have now, is nothing to what she will have when her demon is awakened. It is to do with a prophecy, in which she will become the most powerful demon Queen to ever live to reign. When she steps into power, those supernatural creatures that stand with her will rise, but those against her will fall. The werewolves have always been against demons, and they will not want her demon to be awakened. I do not know how far her mother is involved with the werewolves, but no one should trust her either.” “We will protect her. You know us, we will protect her no matter what. She is already powerful. Witches have spells or use wands to use their magic. She doesn’t need either. I would assume she cannot use her demon powers until her demon has been awakened, but given her power already, who is to say she can’t,” I replied. “I am glad it is you two that are fated to be with her. I always believed that you both were more powerful than generals, even the advisors. Now I know why. You are fated to mate the future Queen, which technically makes you both kings. Though you will only be Prince consorts, sticking with the modern era and all,” King Abaddon said. “I couldn’t imagine us as that. I never would have imagined it,” Birsha whispered. King Abaddon chuckled, “I would like to know everything you have seen over the last seven and a half years. I want to know more about what my daughter has been through.” Birsha and I told King Abaddon everything we had seen since we met her. He was interested to hear everything. He questioned us about how far we had gone with her. The usual father mode. We told him the truth. We have not done anything but hold her hands and kiss her cheek. Well, Birsha has, I haven’t. Something that is making me a little jealous. “I know you will both want to mark and mate with her, the night of her eighteenth, but I would like you to wait until her demon is awakened, and she is crowned princess. I can have both of those arranged the morning after her party, if that is okay,” King Abaddon asked. Birsha growled. When he realized he had growled, he said, “I am sorry.” King Abaddon chuckled, “You do not need to be sorry. She is your mate, telling you to wait longer. You have waited nearly eight years. That is the response I am going to get. Why I am asking you to wait is, because once she is crowned, I want to announce that both of you are her mates in front of the entire court. I just want her to be crowned princess and her demon to be awakened as soon as she turns eighteen. Her demon being awakened will make her more immortal and help her heal faster. Given there are two of you, she will probably need it.” “Birsha, I think we should wait to go all the way with her, until her demon has been awakened,” I smiled at him. “I agree, we both know how rough I can get, especially if the craze starts,” he replied. “We will wait until her demon is awakened, but we will warn you if she comes to us and wants us to mate with her. We won’t refuse her. But we know she is pure, so we already told her we would go at her pace,” I told the King. King Abaddon nodded, “I understand, I would not expect you to wait forever, but a few days after she is eighteen will not hurt any of you.” We nodded, and continued talking about everything we would have to do going forward, as we would eventually be Prince consorts, we would have duties to our mate, our Queen.
