Girl's Night

When I finished writing the song, I set the notebook to the side so that Skylar could look it over, then grabbed my cellphone and texted her. Willow:    U still at work Skylar:    no, what r u doing? Willow:    wrote a new song. U want to look it over? Skylar:    I would love to.  B there in 10     I grabbed my cellphone, the notebook, and my acoustic guitar, then walked outside to the porch swing.  After I got comfy, I started playing with different tunes trying to come up with the perfect one for my new song.  It was a love song, so I figured it would sound best when sang to a country tune.  A little while later Skylar pulled into the driveway and hopped out of her car.  She quickly made her way over and sat down beside me.       "What's up, my star?  I feel like we haven't hung out in forever," she exclaimed dramatically.     "We just hung out a few nights ago at my gig," I replied as I giggled.     "Okay, okay where is this new song?" she asked.  When I got the notebook opened to the new song, I handed it to her.  I watched her smile widen as her eyes scanned the words I had written.  When she finished reading, she handed it back as she said, "These lyrics are beautiful.  I assume you will adding it to your country collection?"     She knows me so well.  I giggled as I replied, "Yep," popping the 'p'.     We hung out on the porch for a while longer as we talked about what songs I chose for my next gig.  Then I heard my phone ding and instantly got a little excited.  I quickly opened the screen to see a text from my mom saying she would be home late and frowned.  I was expecting it to be Evan, since he never responded to the text I sent him after I got home.     Skylar immediately noticed my frown and asked, "What's wrong?"     "Oh nothing, it's just my mom.  She says she will be home late," I nonchalantly explained.     "Oh, okay then," she said as she narrowed her eyes and stared me down skeptically.     "Hey, do you wanna stay the night?  I really don't want to be here all alone," I asked enthusiastically.     Still staring at me skeptically, Skylar shrugged then replied, "Sure, under one stipulation."     Uh oh, I thought to myself, what could she possibly be thinking?  I eyed her back skeptically as I asked, "What is this one stipulation?"     "You have to tell me what is really bothering you.  I am not stupid and you might as well spit it out," she deadpanned.     "Fine," I said kind of sassily because I hate talking about my feelings and she knows it.  I mean really, who cares that Evan hasn't texted me back yet.  It's not like I really expected him to change that much anyways.     "Earth to Willow...snap out of it," I heard Skylar bark, snapping me out of my thoughts.  She furrowed her brows then narrowed her eyes even more as she said, "Spit it out now."     "Fine, fine, I texted Evan when I got home earlier and I still haven't heard back from him," I admitted trying not to give her too many details.     "Okay, and why would that bother you?" she asked curiously.     "I don't know, it just does," I snapped angrily.     "Whoa, killer, I am not the enemy here and there is obviously more to it, so spit the rest out," she demanded.     I sighed then dejectedly said, "Okay, so I kind of had s*x with him last night and I can't help but worry that he is just going to brush me off now."     "Well if he does, at least you had a little fun in the process, right?" she asked as she winked at me.     I couldn't help but laugh at her statement as I shrugged my shoulders.  I mean, she was right, I had fun.  The s*x was quite enjoyable and I wouldn't mind having some more fun with him if he isn't just blowing me off.  Skylar hugged me then said, "We need to have a girl's night out.  Off to the bedroom to get ready."     She jumped up, then pulled me to my feet.  After I grabbed my stuff, we walked into the house and headed to my bedroom.  I put on a pair of skinny jeans and a hot pink crop top.  Not knowing exactly what we would end up doing tonight, I decided to wear my black and white converse sneakers.  I pulled my hair into a messy bun and added a little bit of light pink eyeshadow, blush and lipstick.  When we were both ready, I grabbed my keys along with my purse and phone.  I looked at Skylar and said, "I'm driving, you just tell me where we are going."     She squealed then asked, "Do you want to go eat at Savannah's café?"     "Sure, I like the food there," I said nonchalantly.     As we drove toward the café, thinking out loud, I said, "I am thinking about trading in this car for something nicer and newer."     'Have you thought about what you would want to trade it in for?" Skylar asked excitedly.     "There are a few that I am thinking about," I responded as I continued to drive.     'Which ones?" she asked impatiently.     "Well, I was thinking either a Mustang, or a Celica, or maybe a Jeep," I responded, not sure what I would rather have.       I didn't live far from the café, so we were there in no time.  Savannah practically lives there, so she greeted us almost as soon as we walked through the door.  "My girls, what are you doing here on your night off?" she asked enthusiastically.  Savannah is like an aunt/mom to both of us.  She is always looking out for us and giving us advice and what not.       Skylar quickly responded, "We are having a girl's night out, and we decided to start with dinner here."     "Wonderful, let me just get you ladies seated, and might I say, you both look gorgeous tonight," she said as she led us to the booth.     "Thanks," we both replied back in unison, then giggled.     When we got to the booth, Savannah asked, "Do you ladies already know what you want, or do you need a few minutes?"     We already knew what we wanted so we went ahead and gave her our order, then she left to get the cooks working on it.  I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn; Skylar ordered the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans.  Savannah brought us both a cherry coke right away before she went back to making other drinks.  About ten minutes later, Savannah returned with our plates of food and a refill on our drinks.     After we finished eating, we sat at the booth for a little longer while we chatted about what we should do next.  We decided to go shopping at the mall.  We paid for our meals and left Savannah a decent tip, then headed in the direction of the mall.       When we got there, the first store we went to was the hippy store.  They have the coolest stuff.  We walked around and looked at all of the different stones and rocks, then we looked at the jewelry.  I spotted a really pretty necklace with a crescent moon and a star and immediately grabbed one to buy.  Next we looked at the dream catchers and native American trinkets.  When we were finished looking at everything, I went to the register and paid for the necklace.       We walked around a couple of clothing stores but neither of us saw anything that stuck out to us.  We found a store full of band merchandise and went in to check it out.  I immediately spotted a skirt and a couple of shirts that would be fun to wear for a gig.  I grabbed one of each in my size, then found a choker that I liked as well.  I even spotted a few hairbows that I grabbed.      Skylar had also found a couple of shirts and hairbows that she liked, too.  We made out way to the register and paid for our stuff before heading back in the direction we came from.  As we passed the food court, I had to do a double take.  I grabbed Skylar's arm as I put a finger to my lip to tell her to be quiet, then I pointed in his direction.       Immediately, her eyes went wide.  Standing off to the side was Evan with some girl hanging all over him.  He looked kind of pissed, but he didn't appear to be doing anything to stop the girl either.  Skylar pulled her phone out and snapped a picture of them.  I was so pissed, I couldn't stand to be there any longer.  I stomped away and rushed the rest of the way to my car with Skylar on my heels.  By the time I got the car unlocked and hopped in the driver's seat, the tears that had formed started making my eyes blurry.  I handed the keys to Skylar as I said, "You need to drive."     We quickly switched seat, then she drove us back to my house in silence.  When we got there, I stalked into the house in a rage.  Seeing the look on my face, my mom instantly asked, "Are you okay?"     I yelled in anger, "No! If Evan shows up here, send him away.  I don't want to see or talk to him right now."  I stomped up the stairs and into my room.  As soon as Skylar walked in right behind me, I slammed the door shut and locked the door, just in case Evan tried to just let himself in again.  I threw myself onto the bed, and smashed my face in the pillow as I screamed.  It had been a long time since I felt this angry and I wanted to hit something or somebody so bad.       When I couldn't scream anymore, I broke down in tears.  Skylar sat on the edge of my bed and started rubbing my back in an attempt to calm me down, but I was just too upset.  All I could think was how stupid I had been to believe that he could or would change for me.  He is still just the same guy he was last year.  I should have known better than to trust him.     As I was starting to finally calm down, I heard Skylar start giggling like a school girl.  Looking up through teary eyes, I saw she was looking at something on her cellphone.  "What's so funny?" I mumbled.     "Oh nothing, I just sent Evan that picture I took, and told him he was in deep s**t with you," she said as she continued to giggle.       I sighed then giggled with her because I could just imagine the look on his face when he opens up that message.  Not even a minute later, her phone pinged with a message back from Evan.  Then it pinged three more times real fast.  "Don't respond to him yet.  Make him sweat it out for a while," I said and giggled.     She looked at me mischievously as she said, "Best idea ever.  f**k him, he can totally sweat it out all night for all I care."  Without opening the messages to see what his response was, she tossed her phone onto the bedside table.     This time I didn't just giggle a little, I full on laughed my ass off.  A few minutes later, my phone pinged several times in a row.  Oh so now he wants to text me.  f**k that.  I turned my phone off without even glancing at his texts.  When Skylar saw me turn my phone off, she did the same with hers.       After we laughed for a few more minutes, I was feeling a little better and in the mood to listen to some music.  I turned on the radio and Skylar grabbed my hands and started dancing while trying to get me to dance with her.  After a minute or so, I broke down and started swinging my hips to the music with her.       We spent about thirty minutes dancing and singing to the music before drowsiness crept up on us.  We both climbed onto my bed and laid down.  It didn't take long for Skylar to drift off to sleep.  It took me a little longer because I kept thinking about Evan, but eventually not even that could keep me awake.
