Being Second in Command

Jakarta's mark was everything to me. Getting back to work with my sis the next day was hard. I didn't want to. I wanted to spend my time in Jakarta. The in's and outs of Southern wolf politics were like the happenings of secret societies. One's hidden within the darkness coming to light from time to time to puff their darkness to a new set of eyes or dampen the light of someone they feel is a threat. I am headed down to the main dining hall as a couple of members of the head families are in the middle of a hiccup. Not sure about about about the issue but, pretty sure it will be a small one that was blown out of portion. This is my job these days keeping the peace while my sister presides over the court and throne room. I knew this would be boring work but, it is never dull. I enjoy watching the tempers flare and the lengths that they try to get even. I feel like I am watching high school movies all over again. I could hear the yelling down the hallway I turned onto once I got to the first floor. "Just wait! The Beta will be on my side!" Bellowed a woman. "I highly doubt that." I heard an older woman say. I shook my head. I was about to get in the middle of a fight between two she-wolves. Not something I wanted to do for sure. The fact was, I didn't even like to see fights or be in them. This went against my autistic wiring. Yeah, I found out-of-the-box ways to fix things but the confrontation was wearing me thin. I rounded the corner to the doors when the scuffle started. "Enough!" I let Tys my wolf snarl from my mouth. The command sent everyone in the room scattering to the tables to sit. I look around the room, I see the female Calvo family and the female Lobos family. "Who would like to explain to me what is going on?" I eyeball everyone. Knowing if they speak I want facts, not opinions or angry words. The silence is so fierce that the walls are willing to talk if they could. Hell, even the table and chairs want in on making words. "I will explain," The woman who spoke was the youngest there. I would almost guess she was not even 18 yet. "Then do so. Please keep it to the facts and nothing more." My words were stern and had a low growl in them. I saw her glance at the oldest of her family. They shared the same black wavy hair. Their features are similar as if they were mother and daughter. My guess based on the oldest Calvo was that it was her granddaughter. "My grandmother found out the Mina Lobos has been bullying me during our lessons with the tutor. That also Mina has been sleeping with the tutor." I watched her pause as she retrieved a few letters from a backpack that was hanging off the back of her chair. Holding the out front of her, she added, "These are what she has said in notes during our lessons and a conversation she had had with her friends about the teacher in question." Reaching out to grab the stack of notes, a shrill voice shouted, "how did you find that!?" I heard a chair scrape back and the sound of feet getting closer. My eyes collided with a young strawberry blonde girl with brown eyes and freckles. She was skidding to a stop before she ran into me. "Sit." I let Tys my wolf growl at her. Her eyes widened and she scurried back to her table. Notes in hand, I stepped back looking through the scraps of paper. Your A filthy worthless mutt Your adopted mutt that isn't even a Calvo You should hide that hideous face There were others, but I thumbed through them getting to the larger piece of paper that had several different handwritings on it. Why didn't you go shopping with us? I had one of my "private lessons" with that yummy tutor. By private, you mean naked in his bed? Duh, he is the best lover I have ever had. I didn't need to read anymore. "Who is their tutor?" I looked to the elder woman. Neither woman seemed to be able to answer. "Denny Trinidad." The young girl I asked for facts answered. Mortou can you bring me a Denny Trinidad, please. Of course, main dining area where all the chaos was coming from? Yep, Thank you. A few minutes later, I heard shoes coming down the hall to this room. I walked to open the door myself. I wanted to see what the reactions to the girls and him were. "Mina, what is going on?" Denny's voice is soft and warm. "Adele is blaming me for bullying." Mina shrugged, rolling her eyes and buffing all At once. "Adele, we have already touched on this, I will make sure Mina doesn't say mean things anymore." Denny made an exasperated sigh. "Then you failed." I said matter of fact. Stepping closer I handed him the stack of small noting with mean things on them. He shuffled through them. Tisking and shaking his head. He would glance up and look between the two girls before going back to reading them. "Mina, we have spoken about this at great length. Why would you lower yourself to this level?" Denny looked up his British accent getting heavier for a moment. "She shouldn't even be in the same class as me!" Mina gave a disgusted wrinkle to her nose. "Enough!" I let Ty's growl again. Everyone bowed to the aura I gave off. "Why is it you feel the need to say such things to her?" I directed my attention at the young girl who just made the outburst. "Her father was a pack wolf rogue. Not even an alpha blood." The girl rolled her eyes At me. I raised an eyebrow before flashing Tys's eyes at her. She submitted quickly as a young wolf should. "So, because she has a father from a pack and not stronger blood you deem it ok to taunt her in this fashion?" I continue to question. "Well yeah." She looked T me like I was stupid. "Power and bloodline are everything. Even you know that." Mina scoffed at me. "So sleeping with a warrior class pack wolf is beneath you then?" I raised an eyebrow. Mina sputtered, her eyes went from Adele to Denny and back. Realization hit her and she burst into tears. "What is to be done with him?" The Elder Calvo asked. "I will deal with him accordingly," I answered. Denny turned to look at me. His green eyes went wide with surprise followed by fear.
