I looked down at Adele as Miss Mateo was led away by Felix. I was not sure why I had gone to the lengths I had but, something told me that she was important.
"Thank you, Your Majesty." She spoke softly. Looking up at Mortou. "Thank you, Sir Bear." You could hear the appreciation in her voice.
Mortou chuckled, "I have never been known as Sir Bear. But I like it!" His smile got wider while he added, "Mortou is my name." He held out his hand to shake hers. Instead, I noticed Adele hugged his big frame as best she could.
Adele stepped back, looking at me. "Where should I go?" Her voice was soft but strong.
"You will be coming with us. We have training in the Queen's private field." I jerked my head in the direction of that field. Two guards were stationed there while another set was watched at the back gate.
"Yes sir." She nodded. Quietly she picked up her things so that they were not left behind.
I turned, waiting for her to come with us. Looking behind me after a moment, I noticed she stood behind us. "Walk with us please." I motioned for her to stand between Mortou and me.
Adele walked up quietly, glancing up at both of us for the first time, We were graced with a smile. We started off to the royal training grounds, halfway there Three family heads and a very pissed-off young Lobos girl were storming towards us.
"You knew this was coming." Mortou gleaned from my deep sigh.
I thought I had a day or so. I responded in his head.
"Your highness! A word please!" The Patriarch of the Mateo family shouted out.
I stopped as did Mortou. He placed Adele directly behind him. "Yes?" I looked at the girl's father who I just sent to the stables for work duty.
"My daughter has been sent to the stables for work duty?" The man's eyes looked offended and outraged at the same time.
"I did." I agreed.
"Whatever for?" The Patriarch sputtered.
"She was bullying a girl, slapped me, and blackmailed a teacher. To start." I raised a brow at him.
I watched as the words registered in his head, even knowing the moment the slapping me clicked. "Thank you for sparing her life." He bowed his head.
"Daddy!" The young lobos girl I had mated to the pack wolf teacher stepped forward.
"How dare you find a mate bond with a low pack wolf for my daughter. " The Lobos man grunted with disdain.
"I didn't find it, my mate did." I paused a moment realizing I had not doled out a proper punishment for her. "She will work the kitchen for a month. I will have the lead omega give her tasks." I thought that was a fitting punishment.
"The Kitchens!?" The male Lobos shouted in shock.
"Shut it Deigo," Leon said as he walked up to us. "I will make sure she makes it to the kitchens." Leon looked at me. There was respect in his eyes. He knew how these people had been wired. We were still sorting out the trouble makers. "Would you like me to escort Adele Calvo back to her quarters?" Leon peeked and winked at Adele playfully.
"No, she is training with us from now on." I nodded back to Leon. I respected this man. He was a good guy. Mortou and Linzi had done well rating him.
"Ok, Adele if you need something please find me. I will not hesitate to help in any way I can." His smile was genuine, as was the offer of help.
"Thank you, sir," Adele answered as she peeked around Mortou.
Leon nodded, "alright let's get you all back to your rooms and you to the kitchen for your duties." He clapped his hand like he was herding children.
We started back toward the royal training grounds. Getting to the guards, they looked straight ahead. I paused, "Adele Calvo will be allowed during training sessions from now on." I announced to both of them.
"Yes Sir." They said in unison, glancing to Adele, then back forward again.
We walked past them, and through the little grove of trees that we had planted to hide what we were up to. Mostly so when people wanted to practice magic in peace. Or if our dragon born wanted to change to fight they could as well in privacy. Breaking the treeline, you saw Race and Pinky in dragon forms battling. Amber and Athens having a magic lesson. While Tau and Jewel sparred in their human forms. Sparring might be the wrong word. More like flirt fighting.
"Whoa," we heard Adele breathe. Both Mortou and I looked down to see her wide eyes. Take in the scene before her.
"Pretty cool stuff uh?" I leaned down to a chuckle.
"Who am I working with?" She gazed from the dragons to Amber spinning dust clouds into mini tornados.
"Athens!" I shouted. He would be the best one to know what she needed to make her shine.
"You rang young beefy boy." Athens appeared next to me. Adele squeaked in surprise.
"I have a recruit here. I was hoping you could gauge what training would be her best fit?" I waved my hand between Athens and Adele. "Athens I would like you to meet Adele Calvo."
True to Athens wild antics he spun to her danced a few steps of waltz and dipped her with a giggle. Standing back up he spun her out to give her a once over with his eyes as she giggled. "The pleasure is mine young wolf." Athens did a courtly bow. "We shall start with fighting." Athens turned his mischievous blue eyes to me. There was a twinkle in them, that told me he knew something I missed. "Head down to where you had seen me. Stretch and warm-up," Athens instructor voice flaring up.
Adele looked to both Mortou and me, "thank you" her smile genuine. Before making her way down the hill to the spot Amber was at.
