William’s P.O.V.

I was staring at blank while reminding again and again what happened in the college. Only to show Tesla, Vanessa kissed me. It was not the first time that a girl kissed me but … she was not just another girl. She was Vanessa Hamilton who never had touched a boy before let alone kissing anyone. The touch of her soft lips was still lingering on my lips. I didn't know why but my heart was still racing against my rib cage while remembering those soft lips.

“Care to explain what was that William?” Nathan asked me after I didn’t know how much time. We were in my room in my house right now and I was still in a daze. “I… I… don’t know?” I looked at him in confusion and I was startled by his look. He was mad. “What???? What did I do?” I looked at him and confusion was written all over my face.

He stared at me for a good few seconds and then removed his gaze from me and looked in the other direction. “Are you seriously thinking that there is something going on between me and her, huh?” I asked him in disbelief and he huffed. “Forget it … I don’t want to talk about this”, he said and was about to stand up when I stopped him after gripping his hand.

“No… no… we need to talk here”, I said and he shot the daggers on me. There was no way that I was going to tatter my childhood friendship with Nathan for her. “There is nothing here to talk about”, he again tried to stand up and I forced him to stay at his place this time.

“Nathan… you know me and above all … you know everything about every second of my life… Do you really think that there is anything that is hidden from you, huh?” I asked him and he glared at me. We both held our gaze on each other and then he sighed after a long heavy pause.

He leaned back on the backrest of the couch and closed his eyes. “Do you like her?” I suddenly asked him and he didn’t respond to me instantly. I blew a full mouth of air out in defeat. “Why did I not know anything about this, huh?” I asked him accusingly and he opened his eyes.

“I realized as soon as she initiated that kiss”, he said and I groaned while throwing myself on the back of the couch. “The way she left us without giving me any explanation, I … I don’t know but… but I have this feeling that it was intentional”, I told him my guts and he just blinked in the blank.

“Why did you embrace her after that kiss?” he suddenly shot a question out of the blue on me taking me off guard. I opened my mouth to say something but I couldn’t tell why I did that? I closed my mouths and just shrugged my shoulders. “I … just felt to do so”, I said and he again glared at me.

“This is not the question here, Nathan…. It … I am sure that it was her first kiss and she is not a girl who can kiss anybody randomly”, I gave my opinion. He didn’t say again and it made me worried. There was thick silence around us and I didn’t like this situation.

“I think…. Ummmm… you are right… there must be a solid reason behind her act”, he finally agreed with me and I took a breath of relief. I was innocent here and he must know this. “You will talk with her or I?” he asked me this time while looking at me and I looked at him blankly.

“I … uhh.. I think… I should talk with her …. I need an explanation here”, I said to him and he hummed. “It will be better if you call her first and then ask her to meet you anywhere else. I don’t think it will be good to talk in college”, he suggested and I nodded while knitted my brows.

“I am going now… I guess.. this kiss has ruined my chances with her … I.. uhhh… forget it”, he shook his head and then stood up. I looked at him helplessly but couldn’t say a word. “I am sorry, bro”, I said apologetically when he was at the door. He scoffed and then went out of my room without saying anything. I sighed aloud while running my fingers from my hair.

This was not what I ever imagined. He liked her???? Of all the girls… he liked her??? What was that? I was clearly confused. We both were inseparable then when did this happen and why on earth I didn’t have any idea about this. Of course, I knew that he cared about her. I saw him getting disappointed whenever we saw her covered in bruise or sick. At that time, I thought that he pities her. Never in my dreams that I ever had this idea that he could even like her.

I closed my eyes and again the same scene played in the back of my mind. She softly moaned during that kiss and the touch of her skin…..I opened my eyes and looked all around. We all were dumbstruck when she removed her hoody. She has worn a crop top beneath that hoody that was showing all her curves perfectly well. I never imagined her being so curvy and so sexy….

I felt my heart started racing again. And when she put her head at my chest… I felt this strong urge to protect her from this hard world. It was true. I embraced her because I felt to protect her. I didn’t want her to go away from me and I immediately missed her warmth when she suddenly walked away from me.

I took the phone from the table and dialled her number that I got from my father a few days ago. I looked at the time in the clock and it was 8 in the evening. She was now living alone in an apartment near to the college.

“We need to talk”, she said as soon as she picked up the call leaving me speechless. “Yeah… I also thought so… where we can meet?” I asked her and then she gave me the address of a restaurant where we agreed to meet in half an hour. I guessed it would be a long night for me.

I stood up and changed my clothes. I put on something comfortable and warm as the night was cold. I went downstairs after taking my wallet and phone from the table. "Hey, mom... I am going to meet someone and I will be home a little late", I told my mom who was watching the news in the living room.

"William", she called me in a warning tone and I sighed and looked back at her. "Relax, mom... it's just a small meeting with... with one of my college mates", I stuttered a little as I didn't find the exact word to define my relationship with her.

"If you say so... I trust you... don't be late for the dinner", she said and resumed watching the TV. "Yes mom", I said and then went straight to my car in the garage. I ignited the engine and then put the location in the GPS of my car and drove in the direction that the map was now showing..
