I couldn't get the man who saved me off of my brain. In fact, I even went as far as to cook a
meal for all the firefighters as a thank you.
My saviour might not be there, but a thank you is a thank you.
It only takes ten minutes to walk to the fire station from my house since they're only three streets
away.
I knock on the see through glass garage door of the firehouse with a soft smile to hide my
nervousness.
And older man comes up to raise the door with the push of a button and I'm greeted with an, "I
remember you little lady."
He ushers me in and says he'll be right back while I'm left with two other men who look at me
with big smiles.
The blonde one flirts alot, which I try to avoid without being rude and the brunette one seems to
be scanning my face for anything.
Then I see him. Him.
My saviour smiles at me before I launch myself at him, surprising even myself. I thank him for
saving me, to which he graciously accepts and we all end up eating together before I realize I'm
behind on my plans for the day. Some personal planner I am.
Then to my surprise, my hero who I learned is Trent, offers to drive me where I need to go.
I'm hesitant to accept, but he ends up convincing me. The ride was comfortable as we talked, just
getting to know each other and for some reason, I feel extremely safe with him.
Trent and I meet up with the salesman who is lanky, but has a very peppy attitude.
"Hey there! Looking to buy or rent?"
"Buy," I say as kindly as possible. I'm glad Trent is here because as odd as it my seem, I need
emotional support sometimes.
"Do you have a specific car in mind?"
Wracking my brain, I figure a luxury car wouldn't hurt. Maybe it would force me to pay more
attention and be a better driver.
"Maybe a sports car?"
Trent chokes from beside me and looks at me with surprise, but I just shrug and follow the man
to the other end of the lot.
"A sports car?" Trent questions lowly.
"I thought you were a bad driver."
"Oh I am. I just want something nice I guess. Not another Nissan."
Trent frowns before grabbing my elbow and calling back the man.
"Can you show her the Audi a-9?"
Mr. Lanky nods and takes off again as we follow and I look at the firefighter with wonder.
"It's the safest car in it's class," he explains. "Trust me."
And for some reason, I do. So much in fact, that I end up getting the Audi he suggested in a nice
darkish grey color.
"It suits you," he compliments smiling after signing the paperwork, attach a small teddy bear to
the keys, and get ready to drive the car out of the lot.
"Well thank you for the suggestion," I say.
Trent nods and walks close, looking down at me with hesitation.
"Well... You can stop by at the station anytime. Or not. Don't feel obliged to... I mean- here. Let
me give you my number," Trent stutters pulling a pen out and writing on the back of my receipt.
"Here."
I smile gratefully and give him yet another hug. He returns it tightly and holds on for just a
moment too long. Just the way I like it.
"Drive safe," he orders with a serious face.
"I will," I promise before waving.
He goes his separate way and I go mine, but I can't help but want that feeling of being apart to
dissipate.
I want to spend more time with him.
