Chapter 4

(No one POV)   Maya bit down her tongue and quickly wiped her tears as she walked behind her mate. She knows that his heart still holds his first mate. But would it hurt if he doesn't talk so much about her in front of Maya? She was so happy when her mate offered to give her a tour. She took it as a perfect opportunity to get to know him more. But now... She knows that his heart still holds his first mate. Oblivion to his mate's current situation, Vince kept showing her the pack house. As he passed by each room he involuntary tells her memories of the things his Lo and he did during their times.  Throughout each memory, his smile becomes more wide, ignorant that his other mate was on the verge of a breakdown. 'Stay strong, Maya' her wolf said as she nodded. 'I will' she replied as they walked through the back door.  She needs to be strong. She knows she can’t conquer his heart immediately. But hearing her mate talk lovingly about another woman made her heart sting. "And this is the pack ground. Actually, this is the only place she hasn't visited" he chuckled as the latter let out a sigh. 'Looks like this is going to be my favorite place' she thought as she walked with him to the training ground.  Men and women filled the training ground. Some in human form and some as wolves. "All pack members from 15 upward has mandatory training," he said as she nodded and looked around.  The ground was huge but still seemed filled. There were a few warriors training a group of teens in human forms and there were also many who were doing duels. Another group was running in their wolf form. "Hey, Vince. Who is this very beautiful girl beside you" a blonde asked walking towards them. Maya blushed bright red on hearing the guys compliment. Vince frowned at his friend's comment before looking at his blushing mate. "This is.. Um.," he said as he looked at his confused mate. She looked at him confused as to why he was stuttering. "I forgot to ask you your name" he whispered. She felt as if a bucket of cold water was poured on her. She bit back a whimper looking at the ground.  Taking a deep breath, she gave him a small smile. "Oh...r-right. I forgot to introduce" she said giving out a very awkward laugh. Her heart right now was weighing so heavy with emotions. She just wanted to run away. Away from all this pain. 'I bet rejection causes less pain than this' she thought letting out a dark chuckle "Typical new Vince" the blonde murmured as he slapped his own head at the Beta's blunder. "Ignore him beautiful. He keeps loosing his memory" the blonde said as she smiled at him. "It's OK. I'm the one who forgot to introduce it. My name is Maya" she said as her mate looked down at her. "Maya" Vince repeated softly. 'The name suits her.' He thought as he let out a sigh. 'You are the definition of asshole' his wolf grunted clearly pissed with his human's behavior. He looked down at his mate as she stared at him. She held a small smile but it didn't reach her eyes. He could clearly see the hurt in it. "My name is Edward, you can call me Ed. You’re new in the pack right?" the blonde said grabbing their attention. "Nice to meet you," she said smiling at him. "So. You have a mate?" Ed asked as her eyes widened. "Um... Well," she said looking up at her mate.  Is it alright if she says that she is his mate? Why am I thinking of this? Of course, it is alright. They are mates. But as soon as she opened her mouth to say yes, Vince jumped in the conversation. "No she doesn't," he said as she froze. "But she is off-limits" he added.  She turned and looked at her mate. His face was emotionless as he looked at his friend. Tears built up her eyes. She had enough of today. Not only did he talked proudly and lovingly about another woman in front of his mate, but he also didn't bother to ask her what her name was. And now he tells another unmated male that she is not his mate? He is now a proven asshole in her eyes. She didn't say anything as she turned and walked back to the house. The shouting of her mate and Edward asking her where she was going echoed but she kept walking. She walked up the stairs and to her room but before she could get in she bumped into another person. "Ow!" they both said falling down.  Rubbing her forehead she opened her eyes to see Roe. "I'm sorry I didn't see you there," she said as she picked up the books from the floor. Maya started helping her pick the books but dared not to speak because she knew her voice would falter. "Are you alright?" Roe asked making the other nod her head while avoiding to look at her eyes. "Maya, look at me," she said lifting up her head. She gasped as she saw the flushed face of her new friend. "Maya! Are you alright?! You look like you have been crying" she said, her voice filled with worry. "I'm fine," Maya said as she stood up with the books in her hand. "You were carrying too many books. I’ll help you" she said as Roe nodded. "Ok follow me," she said and both of them started making their way to the library. *********Time skip******** "He what?!" Roe screamed angrily. She knew Vince was heart broken and all but this is just too much.  Not only didn't he bother to ask her name but denied being her mate?! How could he do that! She looked down sadly at the broken girl who was now sitting on the library sofa crying.  "Maya... I'm so sorry this happened to you" she said as she tried her best to comfort the broken girl. She knew nothing would calm her down. Denying being a mate is also like a rejection. It hurts like a b***h it is. "Don't be. Its OK" the other said as she stood up. "I'm going to my room. I'm tired" she said walking her way to her room. "I'm gonna f*****g kill him" Roe grumbled as she angrily made her way out of the library.
