Damon
"Dev", Maddie touched my hand.
"Huh?", I turned to look at her.
"You spaced out, what's wrong?".
"Nothing, just thought I saw something".
"It's the effect of the town, get out while you still can", Gulliver said.
"Calm down", Maddie rolled her eyes.
"We'll be fine, thanks", I gave a reassuring smile, "how much do we owe you?".
"Since we're such good friends and I practically drove you to your deaths just give me 100".
"Aren't you polite", Maddie said sarcastically, she took out her wallet and gave Gulliver his money.
"Take care", I opened the door on my side and got out of the car.
"I should be telling you that, be careful".
"Aside from the cold and lack of bars I think this place is fine", Maddie got out of the car too.
We both picked up our bags and waved at Gulliver, I watched as his car disappeared into the snow.
"We should probably enter the house before we get frostbite".
"Yeah".

The house didn't look like much on the outside but it was surprisingly better on the inside. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, a spacious living room with 3 beautiful beige sofas and a reasonably sized T.V hang up on the wall. The kitchen and pantry were spacious too and when you go to the back there's a beautiful garden.
"Damon went all out", Maddie said
"He did, apparently his grandparents used to live here".
"Explains the garden, speaking of Damon, have you called him?".
"Not yet, I was waiting till we reached safely, now I have to wait to get a decent signal", I rolled my eyes.
"This place keeps getting and better huh? Well, that gives up enough time to rest".
"And unpack, I'll get to it right away".
"Yeah, and when you're done you can do mine too, thanks darling".
"Not even in your best dreams would I ever do that", I walked down the hall and entered my room.
"You'll regret this, I would have paid you", Maddie called out.
"Save your money for something important, we'll need it", I rolled my eyes.
I put my bags on my bed and opened them, the room I was in was very comfy, the bed was in the center, I had two bedside tables with lamps on each of them, there was a big white dresser just opposite the bed and a mirror on its side, there was also a table and chair by the window.
In terms of style, it wasn't bad either, cream-white walls, a light brown carpet that covered the entire floor and beige curtains, Damon's grandmother really loved the color beige.
I started unpacking my clothes from my bag and putting them in the dresser, all my shirts went on the top right, all my jeans and sweatpants on the top left, my P.J's took up most of the lower shelves and all my hoodies and dresses were hung on clothes hangers, my underwear occupied the smaller drawers.
When I was sure I was done putting away my clothes I started unpacking my other stuff. I carried a few novels to read, my room conveniently had a bookshelf so I put them there, aside from my books I put my laptop and art supplies on the table.
"I think I'm done", I sighed.
I checked my phone and signal finally returned, I did a little happy dance. I immediately called Damon.
....
"Hello", he hummed sweetly.
"Hey, sorry for not calling earlier, I had weak signal".
"Yeah sorry about that, this place kinda sucks in the signal sector...wait you're here?".
"Duh, it only takes 2 hours from New York to Minnesota".
"Seriously? I thought it would take longer, if I knew sooner I would have been visiting"
"Is that your excuse?".
"Let me off the hook this time", he laughed.
"Fine, but I'll corner you next time".
"No, you won't because now I'm prepared".
"But you'll never see it coming"
"But I'll expect it"
"Whatever", I laughed, "what are you doing?".
"Just finished running some errands, now I'm on my way to see you".
My heart skipped a beat.
"How long till you get here?"
"Not too long, about 20 minutes"
"Okay, Maddie and I will be waiting"
"Can't wait to finally see you, later"
"Later"
....
"Maddie!", I ran out of my room.
"In the kitchen...and there is no food in this house".
"Damon is gonna be here", I rushed to the kitchen.
"Well, well, well, so the lover girl is gonna meet her lover boy", she smirked.
"I'm so excited I don't know what to do", I started pacing the floor.
"Chill out, you'll be okay, how long till he gets here?".
"20 minutes", I checked the time, "18 minutes now".
"Damn, anyway, just relax".
"How can I relax? I finally made up my mind".
"Made up your mind about what?".
I looked at Maddie and she looked back at me in anticipation.
"I'm finally going to tell Damon how I feel".
"OMG", Maddie wrapped her arms around me and started jumping.
"I know, I know, but I'm scared".
"Scared?", she stopped jumping and looked at me, "everything will work out, I promise".
"How are you so sure?".
"I just have a feeling", she winked.
I took in a deep breath and let it out, "Okay, I'll take your word for it"
*****
I heard a knock at the door, my heart was beating out of control, 20 minutes were up, it was Damon. I brushed my hair back and looked at myself in the mirror, I changed into something different, a baby blue shirt and grey sweatpants.
"Dev, are you gonna answer the door or what?".
"I'm going, just relax", he knocked again.
"Get your ass moving", Maddie pushed me towards the door.
I breathed in and out, my hand shook as I twisted the doorknob and opened the door.
I stared wide-eyed at the beautiful man standing in front of me, he looked into my eyes and smiled, my heart grew wings, he looked so gorgeous. All those years did him justice, he aged like wine, as far as I'm concerned he's always been gorgeous, but now...it's like he had a glow up from a glow up.
Damon's beautiful forest green eyes stared deeply into my eyes, I was rendered speechless. I admired all his features one by one, his perfectly shaped jawline, his thick eyebrows, and feminine eyelashes, his pink lips, all his features worked side by side to make him the perfect American boy crush.
He towered over me which is a good thing, since I'm 5'7 I'm practically the same height as most boys or maybe even taller.
"Hey", his delicate yet husky voice made me shiver.
"Hey", I smiled brightly.
We stayed like that for a while, just looking into each other's eyes.
"I exist too", Maddie cut in.
"Hey Madds", that was the nickname he gave her.
I moved to the side and he walked into the house. Damon hugged Maddie and we all sat on the sofas, Damon and I sat together.
"You guys are all grown up", Damon smiled.
"Oh get over yourself, you're like how old now? 25?", Maddie rolled her eyes.
"26", he corrected with a smirk.
"Wow, so it really has been that long, last time we were together you were 24", I looked at him.
"It has, that was when we graduated from college right?".
"Best day of my life", Maddie said.
"Best day of everyone's life", we all laughed.
"How've you been since then? Do you have a job or a wife?", I looked at Maddie as she asked that question, she was doing way too much.
"A job yes, I've been helping a small company get on its feet, as for a wife", he chuckled, "Not yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed, I feel like settling down".
I couldn't hide how happy I was to hear that.
"And you guys?".
"I'm as single as the wind and as for a job, pfffft, Max works for me so I don't have to", Maddie gloated.
"i***t, you're an i***t", Damon rolled his eyes, "what about you Dev?".
"Oh, same old, I got a job for a few months but you know how I feel about working outside".
"Still anti-social I see, and relationship-wise?".
I'm tryna be your wife.
"Single, when you're anti-social and awkward there's only so many people you can attract", I giggled.
"You still see yourself that way? I thought you would have grown out of it".
"Old habits die hard", I shrugged.
"I'm glad you're here, I was just complaining about the lack of food in this house, I'm off to buy some, I saw a convenience store not too far from here", Maddie got off her sofa.
"Let's go together, it'll be easier that way", Damon suggested.
"No no, I'll be fine, let me explore", Maddie winked at me, she put on her shoes and coat and left the house.
"She's probably going to buy booze", I said nervously.
"She's still drinking?".
"More than ever, but that's Maddie for you, one day she'll get over it".
"What about you?", Damon moved closer to me and put my legs on his lap, I could faint from all the pressure.
"What about me?".
"You've changed a lot appearance-wise, you used to keep your hair short but now it's running all the way down your back, I like it".
"I realized long hair suits me best".
"And how are you doing emotionally? Do you still cry during arguments?", he laughed.
"That's so mean, it's not my fault I'm sensitive", I pouted.
"Big ass baby", he continued laughing, I grabbed a small pillow and hit him with it.
"If you're gonna keep teasing me I'll just go back home", I crossed my arms over my chest.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry", he held my hand, "don't go".
Damon looked into my eyes again, till this day I've only been fascinated by one pair of eyes, those eyes belong to the man I love, the man looking into my eyes.
"I've missed you", I squeezed his hand.
"I've missed you more", he squeezed mine back, "there are so many things I've been meaning to show you and so many things I want to say".
My heart was beating like a drum in a parade.
"What kind of things?".
"You'll have to wait and see".
"Will I be shocked, happy or sad to hear and see those things? Tell me what to expect".
"You're one of the most important people in my life, trust me on this, you'll love the surprise I have for you", he smiled.
I could tell you right now how I feel about you, but I won't, I'll wait for the right time.
I'll wait for you to say it first...
