Here I am wearing a white princess inspired wedding dress and in a church when my soon to be husband hates my guts. We were about to say I do and the man standing in front of me would rather die than even look at me that's how much he hates me... He makes it sound like I wanted this, why the hell would I want to marry a man that would never love me back, one who still hasn't left his girlfriend or his soon to be wife, so I know I'll never be loved by him... I'll never forgive daddy for forcing me to marry a man who hates me... This was the guy I was once in love with, he used to be my childhood crush. We were really close when we were younger but it all stopped when our parents stopped their collaboration and our families have been enemies ever since. But all of a sudden they wanted to put the feud behind them at our expense. =================== «TWO MONTHS EARLIER» I was called into a meeting with daddy he didn't say why just that in was urgent... I had just finished my studies and I'm supposed to start working at daddy's company after I graduate so that should be why his calling a meeting... I head into daddy's office... I immediately knew something was wrong because mom was here with the Conners couple and him, him being Jason Conners the guy I've had a crush since I was at least 7 years old but he never even looked my way, he had a thing for brunettes and I was obviously blonde, he always treated me as a dumb blonde that knew absolutely nothing and he always accused me of buying my grades... I never made it any better correctly him or anything because I always end up seeing him at the worst possible moments which made me look like an idiot... "Da-Daddy? Wh-What's going on?" I stutterly asked but it came out more like a whisper than anything... "Kay dear sit down" I sit next to mom on the sofa in dads office... Which surprised my mother was never allowed at my father's company. My mother was a house wife and had never worked a day in her life. "So Doug (Doug Conners) and I called this meeting today because it's time for us to retire and we want you two take over however we will be merging the two companies soon and we thought you should know" Daddy said "Bullshit!" Jason exclaimed jumping up... Giving me a fright. I flinched "That's my birth right, I worked so damn hard to get to the top and you want to take it away from me? Father I don't agree to this, They are the Summers family we don't do business with them" Jason said dismissively "Son calm down... We want to put the feud behind us and doing that we going have you marry Kay in two months" Doug says to his son "No way!!" "f**k no!" Both I and Jason said at the same time "Look the two companies have been competitors for way too many years, we have decided on the merge, if you don't agree then you can forget about your birth right" Catherine Conners said dismissively. Jason slouch back into his seat shutting his trap... Shocking me... This was crazy... I know Jason had a long time girlfriend... They had been together since high school. "What about Angela?" He whispered out. Voicing my thoughts. "Dump the girl. You can do better anyway." His father said emotionlessly I'm guessing they never liked her... I don't know why though, She was an international model and was making money like crazy... I'm not really interested in their drama... As long as Jason is happy I didn't care. "Daddy what about me?" I ask. "Honey this is for your own good... Once the merge is complete Jason would be CEO and Kay would be CFO... That way Jason can help you and you wouldn't be stressed out." my father says We just nodded... It's not like we have a choice in this matter. Like they aren't messing with our lives to get a kick out of it... I knew I couldn't speak up to my father. I got up and rushed out of the church refusing to look at my family... I got into my car... (Nothing fancy its just a jeep) I bought the car with my own money, I had a part time job as a designer in my father's company. I was headed to my apartment... I hope daddy wouldn't make me stay with him... I would never speak to my father again if he forced me to do that... I got to my apartment building... I was still wearing my wedding dress, I made my way into the building and up the stairs, my apartment was on the fourth floor and the elevator was being repaired... I got to my floor and standing in front of my door was Daniel Jones, Jason's assistant... I honestly don't have time for this... I know Jason sent him and he has nothing to do with this, but I'm still upset with the fact that his here... "Mrs Conners" He says respectfully... "Daniel what are you doing here?" I ask him narrowing my eyes at him "I've been ordered to take you back to Mr Conners residence, you'll be living there from now on" he answers respectfully "No..." I say as I unlock my apartments door and slamming it in his face. I took a shower with my dress on... I designed the dress when I was 12 years old for my wedding day, I made it a month ago, I was humiliated in front of my family members, by Jason if he thinks I'll let him walk all over me his wrong... I got out of the dress eventually and threw it in the trashcan... I put on a pair of high waisted light blue broken mom jeans and a white cropped tank top and a pair of white sharp toe white pair of heels... I took a denim jacket and a bag... I was going to my friend Colton's restaurant... He owned a chain of restaurants across America... Colton Stone was 6 years older than me and treated me like a younger sister... He is my neighbour... I opened my door and low and behold Daniel was still out there... "Mrs Conners" he said bowing his head "Don't call me that... Daniel go back to work I'm not moving in with your boss... Now if you would excuse me I have a meeting to get to" I say waving my hand dismissively He nods and leaves... I close my door and locked it... Walking down stairs in the most uncomfortable heels I own wasn't the best idea... I own a lot of clothing and shoes... I was a designer with my family's company since I was in high school, I've designed all of my own clothing, when I got enough money I bought this apartment building and rebuilt the two apartments into one , I turned two apartments into one so it was enough for my clothing and I needed a space for my designs... I never worked on them at work or handed any of my designs to anyone, I made them myself so I needed space for that, I loved the freedom of having my own space... I finally reached my car... I headed to Georgio's Colton's restaurant... George was Colton's grandfather's name, in respect of his grandmother he named the place after him. I parked my car... And headed in... I walked straight to Colton's office... I was the only one he ever allowed into his office without knocking... I opened the door he was sitting there Looking at his Laptop... I didn't invite him to the wedding because I knew he wouldn't understand... I couldn't give up my birth right... He looked up... "Kay..." He said with a smile Did I forget to mention the man had an English accent... I loved his accent "Colton" I said and the tears started falling again... Remembering how Jason humiliated me... "Kay" He rushed to me and hugged me... "What happened?" he asks "He humiliated me Col... He left me at the alter" I said in between sobs "What are you talking about Kay?" he asks I shake my head... Wipe my tears away... I give him a smile... "Come on let's eat" I say He nods... And leads me into the restaurant... let's just say it was the biggest mistake of my life... Right there was Jason and Angela making out in on of the booths... Colton makes us sit right next to them... "Kay will you tell me what's going on, you can't just show up in my office and start crying and expect me to stay calm..." He says And I could see Jason from the corner of my eye, turning his head towards us and frown... I made sure not to pay attention to him... Our wedding was a private one so I'm assuming his not going to tell Angela about his marriage and her being a mistress or am I the mistress? We got married less than three hours ago and instead of paying attention to us he is with his mistress... Awesome... "I'm fine Cole... Let's eat..." He frowned... "Please" I beg He nodded... He snapped his fingers and a waitress came... "We'll be having the steak, and fries on the side... one medium rare and the other well done... and two glasses of the house Rose wine" He says The waitress jotted down all he said... Col has always been this way never said please or thank you for anything... The waitress left... "So you taking over your dad's company after you graduate right?" he asks making conversation "Something like that" I shrugged... "Would you consider working here?" He asks "What?" I ask shocked "Being my right hand man or woman..." he says shrugging "Why?" I ask confused "Kay you don't really want to work for your father believe me, I've tried working for my dad, it didn't workout, my dad never wanted to retire and it was hard because he wouldn't let me make changes without his okay" I just nodded and Shrugged... it's funny how Jason's eyes were on me the entire conversation... Our food came and I could hear them flirting "Baby I have a fashion show next week will you come and support me?" Angela said practically hugging him and seductively "Angela, you know I can't I have to work I'll send Daniel, I'll accompany you" he says dismissively "But..." she began to say "Angela I have to work, you know how important this merge is too me we have to rebrand every clothing item since the merge... We have to rename the company as well... So no I can't" He sounded annoyed Does he really speak to her that way? My phone dinged... [I see you enjoying your date... Remember you better be home before 7 p.m or else Jason] I look to my left to where he was... He was smiling like he caught me cheating... Cole was married to my assistant... So no he didn't love me and this wasn't a date... I honestly could take this anymore... His making me out to be the cheater when he was smooching Angela two seconds ago... He'll have a surprise waiting for him at home because there is no way in hell I'll be going to his house when I have an apartment... "Will you be eating Thanksgiving with me again?" he asks Every year I would spend Thanksgiving with Tarryn and Colton I never spent it with my parents because they would go on Vacation then... Tarryn and I went to school together she was really smart and skipped a lot of grades, Cole and Tarryn met through me and they have been happily married for two years. I offered her a job as my assistant as soon as we graduated. "Sure... You make the best Turkey I've ever had..." "You only say that because every year I give you the recipe and you love the sound of my voice..." I laugh... "What? You went to England for 6 years came back with an accent that would make every woman's panty drop..." I say He just laughed and continued to eat... Col knew I loved his accent and I loved listening to him speak mostly because of his accent most of the time I don't even listen to what he says just listen to the sound of his voice...
