Chapter 4 - Confusion

1192 Words
I Lexus felt like a spell had radiated into his whole body. He just could not take his eyes away from the woman who was walking, approaching the place where he was standing. Her straight, little blonde hair sways as the warm wind softly hammed, caressing every strand thereof. Her flushed face is akin to that blooming red rose whose beauty could captivate every butterfly that may pass by. He inhaled some fresh air and furrowed, confused with such a feeling that is clouding his whole being now. Then his wolf galloped happily. “Lexus, we have finally found our mate,” Aryas, his wolf exclaimed. Lexus' heart throbbed so heavily upon hearing Aryas’ words. His eyes became fixed on the woman’s eyes; she was just around four arms'lengths away from him. All of a sudden, her eyes glistened as they were hit by the last light of the sun before it finally set in. He furrowed more. As if someone was pushing him; he abruptly made wide strides to reach the woman’s spot; she is still looking at him with growing confusion in her eyes. Lexus, without thinking wisely, gently took the hands of the woman and kissed them. “I don’t know why I was so drawn to you at the onset that I laid eyes on you. And your sweet lilac scent haunted me the moment it filled my nostrils,” he murmured as he gazed at her with such adoration. Daffodil’s eyes squinted as she grabbed her hand away from the man. It was as if she was awakened from a deep sleep when she felt his lips touch her hands. “I don’t know you, so don’t you dare touch me again.” Daffodil flinched away from Lexus’ hands. Lexus was somewhat hurt but he understood. “I am sorry. I just can’t help it. Did you not feel it, mate?” he asked, with a sort of confusion in his tone. Daffodil suddenly became speechless. She heard the word again. She decided to ask him. “I heard someone whisper that word to me just a while ago, although I don’t know who she was. Why are you calling me, mate? Are we classmates before?” still confused, she asked, making Lexus almost laugh. “You did not know the word mate?” Lexus asked, smiling. “In our place, when we say mate, it means we have been schoolmates. Why? Is there another meaning of that here in the Cook Islands?” She asked with such innocence that made Lexus' smile widened. “For us, mate means our destiny, our fate, our partner in life,” Lexus explained, his smile not fading. “Oh, that’s ridiculous!” she exclaimed with eyes narrowed. “It is not ridiculous; it is the most wonderful thing; a wonderful feeling that a werewolf could have,” Lexus said with eyes fixated tenderly on the woman in front of him. Daffodil was not able to hold back her laughter. “Werewolf; mate? Are you a fan of that Twilight movie Mister?” Lexus furrowed and suddenly got hold of Daffodil’s right arm. “That’s true. We are werewolves.” Daffodil’s eyes grew with fright. “Oh my God, help!” she shouted, but the man in front of her put his hand over her mouth, preventing her from shouting. “Shhh, I will not harm you. I am Lexus, what is your name mate?” he said smilingly, his hand still covering her mouth. Daffodil grabbed the man’s hand on her mouth. “You better go, find that mate you are looking for. Definitely, I am human. I don’t have any mate!” she hissed at him. But Lexus was too quick to act. He swiftly grabbed Daffodil’s waist and before she could react, his lips already crashed into her lips. II A volt of electricity hit both of them. Daffodil was stunned while Lexus smiled as he continued to kiss her passionately. Daffodil could not understand but something inside her was wobbling as if trying to come out. She closed her eyes and felt her heart race. His kisses made her shiver and she seemed to feel much better. “I am Daff; they call me Daff; short for Daffodil,” she said when their kiss ended. Lexus’ expression suddenly changed. His smile faded as he whispered her name, “Daffodil? You are Daffodil Marby?” he asked, stunned. Creases in Daffodil’s forehead increased when he mentioned her full name. “How do you know my full name?”She asked with narrowed eyes. “I have ways to find it out,” he replied mysteriously as he looked deep into her golden eyes. “You really have such golden eyes?” he murmured thereafter. “So what if I had golden eyes, Mr. Lexus? I know, only a few have that. “ “Yes, only a few have golden eyes and, most probably, you are the remaining one with such. Tell me Daff, have you not felt yet that you are a she-wolf?” he asked suddenly, to her total shock. “What? What the hell are you talking about?” she almost screamed in utter disbelief. He was never bothered by her screams. “What if you are actually one of us? A she-wolf; I am certainly right at this moment that you can feel that pull mate between us.” Daffodil has been frozen. She could still remember that voice that always tried to speak with her, to reach for her mind. It started when she turned seventeen. “No, I am not. So, please excuse me.” Daffodil removed Lexus’ hand on her shoulders and was about to turn her back, but the man stopped her. “You need to know the truth Daff, about yourself.” He insisted as he held her right hand. “I know who I am, Mr. Lexus; I am the sole heir of Mr. and Mrs. Marby, whose business empire has never been trampled down by time. Now, if you are trying to lure me because you have researched this thing about me; I am sorry. You are barking at the wrong tree, Mister. Let loose and do not disturb me.” Daffodil’s annoyance was now evident. Lexus has been offended but it will not be a reason for him to stop knowing the truth. “I am certain, Daffodil Marby, you are my mate and we are destined for each other. No Alpha can take you away from me,” he softly muttered, but Daffodil heard everything that he said. “You are crazy Mr. Lexus. You only met me today and you are already so certain that we are meant to be for each other. I never thought that a man like you could be so romantically attached and passionate about having that “they live happily ever after” ending.” she mocked him but he was never affected. “Because werewolves do, Ms. Daffodil Marby. We are mates; destined to be together by fate.” He said calmly yet with conviction while releasing her hand.
