Unleashing Her Demon

Beryl's Pov I took out his picture and stared at it for the hundredth time today. I wonder why I was so drawn to this picture, a picture we took when he was 10 and I was 6, the only picture I had of my dead brother. Maybe I was so drawn to it today because tomorrow was going to be another night of the full moon..another night I would spend staring at the moon without any real family standing close by. The only family I had now was my foster parents who were both aged and my best friend, Heedah. "Come on, Berly. We need to go and get some tapestries and door linens." Athena's voice bellowed out as she approached me from the door. On getting to me, her once fierce face that had been hardened when she walked in; softened when she beheld the image in my hands. "I'm sure wherever he is, he's fine. He can't be dead!." She affirmed, shaking her head in negativity as the hot liquid flowed down her face. Okay .... she's reacting like this because she had and still has a standing crush on my brother. Most times, I sit and wonder how possible that can be, I mean... They were just kids! And worst of all, Athena even has a mate now. What kids do though!!! You never can tell. "It's fine, you were saying something about getting tapestries? Let's go get it." I was reminded to lighten the heavy mist and burden that clouded and filled our hearts. "Sure!." And with that, we set out to get the tapestries. Walking along the way, with hands held I noticed a few awkward eyes set on me. "Is it just me or is every darned youth in this pack staring at me with disdain in their eyes?." I asked as I clung to Athena. Just then, some group of girls who I suspected to be in the First Army approached us. (The first army was made up of Gamma's of great strength.) " I wonder what you think you're still doing in this pack, Berly. You've brought only shame and disgrace for your foster parents, little pup." She hissed. "And as a gamma, what else have you added than sleeping around with almost all the gammas? " Athena intercepted as they gave each other a hard glower. "Stick around Athena, you'll regret being friends with this weakling soon. " The one I presumed to be their leader concluded and they throttled away. ~~ It was the day of the full moon and almost night time and the streets were bustling with liveliness and excitement as usual, I separated myself from the ever-flowing crowd to my corner. Athena had gone to take a stroll with her mate and I was just left alone..... I guess it was time to wallow in the misery alone. I strolled off and walked towards the woods, walking to get to the Clifftop so I could get a clearer view of the moon when it finally appeared......that was my favorite spot by the way. And soon, the Alpha's dark and horrid voice bellowed through each Street of Lightwood Pack. I wasn't going to listen to anything he was going to say anyway, it added no value or meaning to my life. I was just going to sit back and await the full moon. Slowly the crescent moon turned to a half moon and then the full moon was in sight. Every wolf in the city howled as we all transformed into our wolf form... Our uniqueness. As for everyone else, it was a time to let out their wolf and be uncontrollably happy but for me... It took a different course. I went down memory lane, reminiscing on that dreadful full moon 15 years ago. It was a full moon like this that stole away my happiness, my family, and everything life had offered me. A full moon like this. I thought the moon goddess was supposed to be a mother to us all and what a mother would want for her children was for them to be happy but.....I don't think she even wanted a daughter like me. "What are you doing here?." I heard a strange yet familiar feminine voice ask from behind me. I swerved immediately only to meet the sassy eyes of the pack's Luna... After all, she wasn't my Luna. I can't even accept her as one. *No reply* "I believe I asked a question, Berly." She repeated, coldly. Oh how I hate this woman...she wasn't even a woman, she's just a girl. Why would she not just let me be? "Watching the full moon, like everyone else is. Even if you're deaf, you can't be blind." I spat out in disgust. "What did you just say?." She asked reclining her ears. "What did I say about deafness? It's quite obvious." I reiterated rolling my eyes. "Don't forget you're talking to your Luna!. " She warned. "Of course, unlike some people, I haven't lost my sense of reasoning yet. " I retorted. "You know the wretched thing about you?." She asked giving me that pitiful look. "If you have an opinion about me, raise your hands and put it over your mouth. Just because you're Luna doesn't change the fact that you're a sassy b***h, I mean it's obvious." I replied nonchalantly while rolling my eyes at the same time. "Did you just use the " B"—... She was yet to complete her sentence when we heard some ruffling in the brambles nearby and the sound caught our attention. Thank goodness that was enough to interrupt her blabbing mouth. But then something felt odd, my wolf stood on high alert which I couldn't fathom why. I felt my hearing instincts and eyes sharpen and I thought there was danger. Soon, a tall handsome dude which I knew that same instant was a wolf, sprang out... I was already drooling. He's cute what do you expect? My heart skipped a bit when I finally realized who it was, he's the ruthless wolf assassin of my time. But then my skipped in pounds when my wolf started rejoicing and uttering the word... " Mate" at the back of my head. " HE IS MY MATE!!!!!!!!!!!!"
