Delilah I was feeling blue today. I saw that there was a message on my burner phone from Brandon. He had been trying to reach Lilly Spark. " Lilly how are you girl?" Lilly resonded. "Juicy!" He got into it, "Nice, how can you tell if your spouse is cheating on you, I mean what are the signs, go!" I pretended that I didn't understand him to be serious. " Um, you go on a secret dating site, you message your new lover all hours of the day, you touch yourself in the bathroom while you are on the phone lol." He was thinking about that last one, Delilah does spend a lot of time in the bathroom. "Thanks!" That's all he said. Nothing more. I looked to see if he had any other messages from different women on the site. He didn't. I needed to get out of my head. I went to see my old high school friend Seraphina Haven- Blaze. Sera, as she was known. Sera was a bit different, she talked to the dead. I hadn't believed in that stuff, yet. "Hey, Sera thanks for meeting me for lunch." Sera was very pregnant, she and her husband Jason had two little twin girls already. Her husband was hoping for a boy. Sera didn't tell him it was another baby girl, not just yet anyway. Sera sat down sideways dropping down slowly as she went. She took a deep breath. She told me all about false labor. She was happy that she was finally free from the twins today. Her mom and dad had taken them off of her hands. Her phone rang, it was her husband. "Hello, yes, no I'm not coming right back. I'm pregnant not an invalid. Blazey, no. You are not coming here to get me. I'm fine ask Delilah." She held the phone to me. "I'll watch her, one false move and I will wisk her home." He made us both promise. Sera took my hands and looked into my brown eyes. I joked," Is this the part where you tell me all about a dead relative reaching out to me!" Sera shook her head, she touched her temple." Nope, just a little labor pain, don't tell Blazey." I smiled softly. "Soon then?" She nodded yes and smiled at me, a pained look on her face. "Nine months pregnant and you are still the most gorgeous girl in the room." Sera rubbed her temples again. "You are depressed. Your marriage is in deep trouble."She said softly. "Wow, that is spot on." I said uncomfortably. Sera closed her eyes now. "Spirit wants you to know that no matter what you do, it is not you. It is something in his past, he needs you to protect him from himself, don't give up. Things will turn around, he really does love you, he's just...lost." Sera held her stomach and breathed hard. She put her head down and counted. A tall man quickly approach, he had dark hair and thick muscles. He was very handsome. He stood in front of Sera with his arms crossed over his chest. I hadn't seen him since their big wedding. I stood up, "Jason!" He smiled and side hugged me saying," Damn, you look good Lilah girl!" Sera said," 5 minutes apart," not looking up at her husband-Jason Blaze. He picked her up with an "Oomph, my back!" Sera hit him. He told me," I'm sorry that Sera has to go now." Sera hid her pain from him. I said," Go, go!" and shooed them away. I sat there for a while, waiting for my lunch. I want that...a loving husband. A baby of my own. A man at the bar raised his glass to me and sent a drink over. "Ma'am the man at the bar sends his regards." The waitress dropped off a vodka tonic. I lifted my glass to him and called, "cheers, thanks!" I wasn't a player, so I didn't understand about men buying drinks for pretty girls. I was sure Brandon would know about that. I swallowed the drink in two big gulps. The man, who looked a lot like a younger Dean Martin sat down. He smiled." I see your friend had to go have her baby, congratulations, let's celebrate!" He was drunk already. I laughed. "Waitress, uno mas porfavor!" He called out. He put out his hand. "Madam, my name is Antonio Valentino!" I nodded and shook his hand, he turned it over to kiss the back of my hand. "Wow, are we really doing this then? I'm Delilah Jonas." "Ooh, gypsy woman?" He responded with a song. This man was absolutely delightful. Leaning forward, I took his palm, flirting back. "Sir, allow me to read your palm!" He smiled and sat up now. I moved my index finger over the lines of his soft hand. "Ah, you are not a man of manual labor!" He nodded. "OK, What else?" I turned his warm hand to the other side. "You sir are not currently married!" No ring. He shuddered, "The thought of me with only one woman." I had heard a ping on the burner phone. "Exuse me please." I had a message from Brandon for Lilly Spark. "Is your sickness any better lover, I'm being very patient." I frowned. "Yes lover, a few more days." I typed quickly. Antonio frowned. "What's wrong my little delicate flower?" I shrugged. " It's my husband, he wants to meet up soon." He smiled, "Then he's not around now?" He looked around the room. I laughed. "Well, it's not me he's looking for. He thinks that I am Lilly Spark." " Who is that, a striper?" He asked, eye brows raised. I held my hurting head in my hands and sighed. "It's complicated. He went on a lousy dating site for married men, I tricked him to believe that I was a woman named Lilly Spark, so he's cheating on me, with me." He yelled out, "Waitress, more drinks please!" I drank another, then another. Antonio drank with me. He held my hand. "You need to slow down now, switch to the stuff you bathe in, you know the stuff?" I yelled out," Waitress, water please!" Antonio offered to take me home. " Yours or mine?" I wondered, he was very smooth. He kissed my hand. "I don't take advantage of girls that cheat on their husband, with their husband. It gets too complicated." He called us an Uber. I fell asleep on Antonio's shoulder. He walked me to the door. I kicked it open and yelled, "Anyone home, nope I didn't think so!" He kissed my hand and left me there. He rode off in his Uber chariot, a perfect Itallian prince charming. I went to take a hot bath, dreaming about being a princess. He left his card in my pocket. He was crafty. Antonio Valentino. Professional gigolo. I laughed as he had written that last part in pen. The next day... I was happy today, thinking about my new friend Antonio. Then I heard a message bleep on my cell phone. It was mother. Grandma Pat died this morning. " Oh no!" I began to weep, sorrowfully. I bought an airline ticket for Oregon as fat tears fell from my red eyes. I left that evening before my husband came home. The house was dark. ********* Brandon I finally came home. I noticed Delilah's coat hanging over the couch. I moved to pick it up and a business card fell out. Antonio Valentino professional gigolo. I frowned. She is cheating on me. That's probably where she is right now. I angrily texted Lilly Spark. "Well my love the house is empty, looks like my b*tch wife is getting laid elsewhere. Let's meet up soon." Delilah was on the plane she had tried to tell Brandon about her grandma, but she had to put her phones into airplane mode before she had the chance to. I was going crazy. I was drunk. I texted Lilly several times. I felt angry that even she didn't respond. " What? Is everyone getting together for a private party and I didn't know about it!" I drunk texted Delilah. No response. I felt anger building. Then I called and left a voice message. "I know about Antonio, don't bother to come home you cheating slut!" Then another one, "No wonder you are so frigid in our marraige bed." Yet one more," If you didn't let yourself go, we wouldn't need to screw other people. Ugly b***h!" I laughed at that last one. She was far from ugly. I drank another whisky and then felt a little dizzy, passing out on the floor. ************ Delilah I landed in Oregon, then saw a message from Brandon. I didn't listen to it, I just called him right back. No answer. "Hey... Did you get my message about my grandma?" I was crying now. "Well, I made it to Oregon. I'll guess I will call you once we make the funeral arrangements for grandma, OK love you." I didn't look at any other messages, I had to hurry to catch a cab. When I got to the farm, I layed my head down on grandma's bed and cried. I was going to miss her. After dinner, we all went to bed. I didn't have any strength or desire to talk to anyone, I shut my phones down. ******** Brandon I had picked myself up and shuffled off to bed. I saw a couple messages and a voice mail from Delilah. I pressed play. When I heard her sweat voice crying , I thought she must be really sorry for running off with that gigolo. I couldn't understand her, then I heard something about grandma's funeral. So, she isn't cheating on me? "s**t!" I didn't remember everything I had said to her, but I knew it was pretty horrible stuff. I tried to call her, it went straight to voice mail. Of course it did. My marraige was really over.
